Among the people, two perfectly defined currents exist: one is made up of the corrupt and the wicked, and the other of the pure and the good. We know beforehand that the corrupt will scoff and mock these teachings; the pure and good, on the other hand, will receive them as a blessing from heaven. Nevertheless, we teach these things to all human beings, good and bad alike, in our endeavor to serve the good and to extend one last helping hand to the perverse and wicked.
Samael Aun Weor
PREFACE
From the human state will come forth angels or devils, and we are already at this decisive instant.
We have adapted this Wisdom to the capacity of the people so that the people may understand it and practice it.
Every human being desires to become powerful — that is, to have power and authority. But, mistakenly, he seeks that power through money, not knowing that money is precisely what divides human beings and confounds them.
Through this Divine Wisdom, powers are obtained and evil is mastered. We teach the good how to recover the power and Wisdom they so long for, and to the corrupt we shall prove that against the powers of God the Devil is powerless.
GARGHA KUICHINES
“The most elementary logic teaches that in order to discuss a thing, it is necessary to know it; consequently, the opinion of a critic is worthless when there is ignorance of the subject.”
Dear reader:
Humanity finds itself in grave danger. Unfortunately, we are unable to become conscious of this irrefutable fact, because the senses of the Spirit of which the Scriptures speak are completely atrophied within us.
Nevertheless, if we take stock of events, we can clearly see how the predictions and prophecies are being fulfilled. Vices, hatreds, vengeance, and resentment take hold of the minds of men, and the struggles and the wars are the trophy of this imbalance. On the other hand, every day new diseases, misery, and plagues appear, growing ever larger and drowning poor suffering humanity in the lake of pain.
The degeneration of this race has reached its outermost extreme, and Nature is rising up against its wickedness. Fortunately, the Master Samael Aun Weor, fifth Angel of the Apocalypse, stands at the head of the Universal Christian Gnostic Movement to deliver the key to salvation.
He teaches us to know ourselves so as to awaken the marvelous seed of love — the shield and essence of the Christ — a precious energy capable of transforming everything.
Of course, such an attitude implies following the example of the Savior of the World: sacrificing ourselves so that we may live together with all human beings, who are the supreme creation of God and our brothers in Christ. “By this shall I know that you love Me: that you love one another,” said Our Lord Jesus Christ. The time has come, then, to reflect and meditate deeply in order to find the path of life, if we do not wish to be cast into the second death. To study and to investigate is better than to criticize and to judge. Dear reader, we invite you to enter into dialogue. We have study centers in every city; the addresses are at the end of this small book. In those places, everyone has freedom to give his opinion without being contradicted. There gather all people of goodwill — members of every religion, creed, school, sect, and so on — because the principal head of them all is our Lord, the Christ, and Christian is only the one who fulfills the law.
Fraternally,
The Editor.
Chapter One: GNOSTIC CATECHISM
Formulary of Magical Power
By SAMAEL AUN WEOR
Question: What is Gnosis? A. Gnosis is knowledge.
Question: What is the Gnostic Church? A. The Gnostic Church is the Indivisible Church of Jesus Christ. It is the old Church of the early Christians of Galilee. It is the old Church of the Christians of the Catacombs of Rome.
Question: How do we manage to see that Church? A. To see that Church, one must learn to travel in the Astral body.
Question: What is the Astral body? A. The Astral body is a luminous body that the soul possesses.
Question: Then can the soul travel great distances? A. Yes, sir. The soul, wrapped in its Astral body, can visit the absent friend, the husband or wife from whom one has had no news, and so on.
Question: Please give me that marvelous secret. A. If you wish to know this secret, have yourself consecrated as a disciple of the Gnostic Church, and the Masters will teach you this secret.
Question: May I visit the Invisible Gnostic Church? A. Yes, sir. You may visit the Invisible Church when you know the secret.
Question: Can one speak with Jesus Christ? A. Yes, sir. You may speak personally with Jesus Christ in the invisible world. The important thing is to learn to go out in the Astral body, because in the invisible world souls can speak with Jesus Christ, see Him, touch Him, and feel Him. We possess this secret, and we give it to you gladly, that you may speak with the Patriarch of our Holy Church.
Question: What is the Holy Spirit of which the religions speak? A. The Holy Spirit is the Lord Jehovah. The Saints of Jerusalem received the Holy Spirit. Saint Peter had the power to give the Holy Spirit to his disciples. Saint Paul also had that power. Paul of Tarsus counsels all Christians to learn to prophesy. But because the people became wicked, the old Christian religion was forgotten.
Question: Does the Gnostic Church have the power to give people the Holy Spirit? A. Yes, sir. Many brethren of our Church have already received the Holy Spirit. Those who receive the Holy Spirit can converse with the souls of the dead. They can converse with the angels. They can see God face to face without dying. They can know the secrets of men and women. They can prophesy, and they can perform very many marvels and prodigies.
Question: Could you prove that to me? A. Of course! After you have been consecrated, you will be able to see many Brothers who have already received the Holy Spirit.
Question: What is death? A. Death is a festival of the soul.
Question: Why do you say that death is a festival of the soul? A. I say that death is a festival of the soul because the soul that goes out of the body ceases to suffer hardships.
Question: Where does the soul go after death? A. After death the soul does not go anywhere; it remains right here, living among the people. It walks down the street without anyone seeing it; it stays with its people, and sees everything just as before. It sees the same Sun, the same clouds, the same birds practicing their flight, as the poet says.
Question: And Hell, Heaven, and Purgatory — where, then, are they? A. Hell is our low animal passions. Purgatory is only the remorse of the souls in pain. Heaven is Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the angels, the archangels, the seraphim, and all the good souls. And the devils are the wicked people themselves.
Question: So everything is, as it were, in the air? A. Yes, sir. Everything is in the atmosphere.
Question: If God is just, why does He send one to endure hardships? A. He who sows lightning bolts has no choice but to harvest tempests. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth — that is the Law of Talion.
Question: And I, who have been a meek lamb, why must I pay for what I do not owe? Why must I suffer so much? A. You are paying for what you owe, even though you do not believe it.
Question: I do not remember having done harm to anyone. A. You are a resurrected dead man.
Question: So on top of everything I turn out to be deceased? A. You are the soul of a deceased person, but you are in a new body.
Question: So then, after one dies, one is born again? A. Of course, my friend! I am glad that at last you have understood me.
Question: Then do the souls of the dead return to the womb of a new woman, and are born again with the body of a small child? A. Although you may not believe it, my friend, the truth is that one returns again to the womb of a woman and is born again to pay what one owes. Now I shall explain to you why some are born on a featherbed and others in misery.
Question: And how am I to remember all the evils I committed in my past lives? A. Do not be concerned about that, my friend. In the Gnostic Church we will teach you all these things, so that you may convince yourself.
Question: Wonderful! The matter is so good that I have no choice but to have myself consecrated. A. I am very glad, my friend, that at last you have understood me. It is by talking that people come to understand each other.
If you wish to know this secret, have yourself consecrated as a disciple of the Gnostic Church, and the Masters will teach you this secret.
Chapter Two: SUMMARY
We are practical: we do not want theories, we go straight to the point, we go to the facts. We speak of things we have seen, heard, touched, and experienced for ourselves. There is no concrete fact in this universe that is not the result of another concrete fact; therefore, when we speak of Gnosis, we speak of something concrete, of something tremendously real, of something that has the smell of the Earth and the taste of the heavens.
Our sacred book is the BIBLE, but we want everyone to be able to see, hear, touch, and feel the great mysteries of the Christic religion. We want everyone to convince himself by his own direct experience of all those marvels and prodigies that are recounted in the Bible.
We go forward with the Christianity that Saint Paul preached.
The hour has come in which people are to see the things of the invisible world. We like to prove everything with concrete facts.

Chapter Three: CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS
(Supreme Key of Power)
By SAMAEL AUN WEOR
Chapter Four: LOVE
Love is the summum of wisdom. Wisdom must be transmuted into love; love is transmuted into happiness. The fundamental basis of wisdom is love. The most elevated wisdom is love itself.
The seeds of wisdom are transmuted into the flowers of love. The Intellect cannot give happiness. There are very many bookworms who know everything by memory and have nothing of love. There are very many know-it-alls who are absolutely unhappy.
Authors contradict themselves in their own works. The poor reader has to drink from the bitter cup of doubt. Authors who at first affirm later deny. Authors who at first deny later affirm. The poor reader becomes confused and falls into doubt.
Doubt engenders confusion and madness.
Faust, after having grown white-haired among the dust of his library, exclaims: “I studied everything with ardent zeal — Philosophy, Medicine, Jurisprudence, and Theology — and here I am at the end, poor fool, no wiser than before!”
Intellectualism brings neurasthenia and afflictions of the Cerebro-Spinal Nervous System.
The man who has spent his entire life among the dust of libraries falls into the confusion of doubts. The Reasoning of doubts produces madness in the long run.
Doubt destroys the occult powers.
The students of Spiritualism suffer the torment of Tantalus.
It is very sad to live eating theories. The best thing is to transmute wisdom into love. The best thing is to love.
The consciousness must be awakened with the blessed flame of love. One must love in order to attain happiness.
Happiness is nothing but transmuted love.
The Intellect does nothing but freeze thought within the brain.
He who wishes to become an ENLIGHTENED ONE must reconquer his lost childhood. The battle of reasoning destroys childlike innocence. Whoever wishes to become wise must imitate the dove and become as a little child — happy and contented as the children, simple as the doves.
Whoever wishes to possess occult powers must put an end to the battle of reasonings. Whoever wishes to possess occult powers must trade wisdom for love.
It is better to trade wisdom for love. Love is the only thing that can convert us into Gods.
Chapter Five: CONSCIOUSNESS
For us Gnostics, the only thing that matters is the awakening of consciousness. We proclaim the awakening of consciousness. We must awaken the consciousness in order to know the secrets of life and of death.
There is only one Great SOUL. That SOUL is the Anima Mundi of Plato, the Great Alaya of the World, the Intra-cosmic Soul.
Our human consciousness is nothing but a spark detached from the Great SOUL of the World.
We must achieve the awakening of consciousness in order to know all the secrets of life and of death.
We must kindle the flame of the Spirit with the force of LOVE. Our consciousness must awaken in the plenitude of its powers.
We must cultivate the culture of consciousness. The knowledge that does not become consciousness only serves to fill the brain with useless trash.
In the East, the consciousness is called BUDDHI.
BUDDHI is our superlative consciousness. The Buddhic body is our Spiritual Soul.
He who attains the awakening of Cosmic consciousness becomes an Ineffable God.
Cosmic consciousness awakens through CHASTITY, through pain, through music, and through Meditation.
Cosmic consciousness awakens through CHASTITY, through pain, through music, and through Meditation.
Chapter Six: MEDITATION
When the magician sinks into Meditation, what he seeks is information.
Meditation is a Scientific system for receiving internal Information. Meditation has four phases:
ASANA (Posture of the physical body): The body must remain in an absolutely comfortable position.
DHARANA (Concentration): We must separate the mind from every kind of earthly thought. Worldly thoughts must end during meditation.
DHYANA (Meditation): The disciple must meditate in those instants on the INNERMOST. The INNERMOST is the SPIRIT that we have within. The disciple must fall asleep meditating on the INNERMOST.
SAMADHI (Ecstasy): If the disciple has succeeded in falling asleep while meditating on his INNERMOST, then he enters into ecstasy. He leaves his physical body without knowing how or in what way, and is taken in his Astral body to the Temples of the White Lodge. There, the Masters give him the answer to whatever question he has put forth in meditation.
DHARANA (Concentration): We must separate the mind from every kind of earthly thought.
Chapter Seven: WOMAN
Woman is the most beautiful thought of the Creator, made flesh.
Woman is the gate of EDEN. One must learn to enjoy Love with the utmost wisdom.
Before GOD drew Eve from the rib of Adam, the latter was alone in Eden. Man and woman, joined sexually, are at the gates of EDEN.
GOD shines gloriously upon the perfect couple.
It is better to enjoy LOVE than to grow old among the dust of libraries. He who wishes to become an Adept must learn to love.
One must transmute water into wine. Water is transmuted into the wine of LIGHT when we restrain the sexual impulse during sexual intercourse with the beloved woman.
Man must withdraw from the woman without ejaculating the Semen.
Restrained desire makes our seminal liquor rise to the Chalice of the brain. This is how all the occult powers awaken. This is how the BUDDHATA — which is the Soul — awakens to live consciously in the Superior Worlds.
The Hindus speak of awakening the KUNDALINI, and we say that the Kundalini awakens by practicing sexual magic with the beloved woman, refraining from ejaculating the Semen.
Man went out of Eden through the gates of SEX, and only by that gate can he enter EDEN again. Woman is the gate of paradise.
This is how the BUDDHATA — which is the Soul — awakens to live consciously in the Superior Worlds.
Chapter Eight: MUSIC
Music comes from the Superior Worlds. Music has the power to awaken consciousness in the human heart.
It is better to cultivate the art of music than to lose time in the battle of reasonings.
Music is the word of God.
True music is classical music. Afro-Cuban music (guarachas, porros, mambos, cumbias, etc.) only awakens the lower passions and only serves to enslave the Soul to the inferior Worlds. We do not deny that the Negroes of Africa have their occult sciences, but they are inferior. Negro magic and the magic of the witch doctors enslave the soul to the lower regions of Nature.
Afro-Cuban music (guarachas, porros, mambos, cumbias, etc.) only awakens the lower passions and only serves to enslave the Soul to the inferior Worlds.
Chapter Nine: FLOWERS
Gnostics should always keep a garden at their house. We must always tend our garden.
Flowers remind us of the ineffable bliss of the Halls of NIRVANA.
Chapter Ten: THE TRINITY
When the Father unites with the Mother, the Son is born.
The much-beloved Father; the much-adored Son; the most wise Holy Spirit — these shine within our own selves. When a man practices sexual magic with his wife, this Holy Trinity manifests within him gloriously.
When a man and a woman unite, they can become Gods. This is how the TRINITY becomes ONE within the depths of our consciousness.
Chapter Eleven: SIMPLICITY
We must be simple in order to be wise. We must end all kinds of reasonings. We must end all kinds of useless reasonings of the mind. The mind is a marvelous instrument of the Spirit, but when reasoning is twisted, the mind becomes the den of the Devil.
We must love the woman intensely, and feed ourselves daily with the bread of meditation.
Only thus do we achieve the awakening of the Christic consciousness. Only thus do we become Gods.
The mind is a marvelous instrument of the Spirit, but when reasoning is twisted, the mind becomes the den of the Devil.
Chapter Twelve: MAGICAL LOVE
I have known men who performed miracles and marvels; those men, for the most part, were illiterate, and only knew how to read the Bible or some prayer book of the saints. They knew nothing of Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Yoga, Spiritism, etc.
Nevertheless, those men performed miracles and marvels that men with forty or fifty years of esoteric studies are not capable of performing.
All the power of those simple, illiterate men lay in faith.
I knew a man who could transform his face and make himself invisible. Bullets did not enter that man, and he passed through walls just as if they were made of paper. That man performed miracles and marvels.
The man would bless the four cardinal points and then recite a prayer to the angel Gabriel, which goes as follows:
“Thirteen thousand rays the Sun has, thirteen thousand rays the Moon has, thirteen thousand times shamed may my enemies be; mountains, rivers, trees, all that has been created by the Lord, defend me from my enemies.”
The man would beseech the angel Gabriel, and the angel would make him invisible, or transform his face, or protect him from his enemies.
The Intellectual lives flitting from school to school, from sect to sect, from book to book, and amid so many theories he ends up confused, full of doubts, atrophied of his vital powers, useless and unhappy.
Such people, after forty or fifty years of spiritualist studies, are more unhappy than any beggar in the streets.
CHRIST said: Have faith as a grain of mustard seed and you shall move mountains.
I, AUN WEOR, BUDDHA AVATAR of the New Era of AQUARIUS, declare that FAITH is the most tremendous magical power that exists in the universe.
Chapter Thirteen: HOLINESS
Without Holiness, nothing is attained. Among the Incense of prayer, crime is also hidden. All the worst evils of life hide themselves beneath the cloak of holiness.
Pride clothes itself with the tunic of humility, and beneath the garment of holiness adultery dresses itself in the cassock of the priest.
The worst evils that I have known in life I have seen in the spiritualist schools.
It seems incredible, but among the oil of myrrh and the incense of peace, crime is also hidden.
The devout hide their crimes under the seal of their temples. The profane have the merit of not hiding their evils — they cast them out in the public square. The devout, on the other hand, hide their crimes among the incense of the holy temples.
The devout smile, full of fraternity, and drive the dagger of treachery into the back of their Brother. There is no worse enemy than a false friend, and the worst false friends are the devout.
Samael Aun Weor
San Salvador, September 1967
Chapter Fourteen: THE POWER IS IN THE CROSS
The Cross, for the Gnostics, is in no way a conventional symbol, but rather the representation of a great cosmic truth — namely, that the world cannot exist in any of its manifestations without the encounter of two opposing or contrary forces that, by joining together, are integrated in a third dynamic and creative force, which is what brings into being all that exists in Nature.
Anyone familiar with the fundamentals of chemistry knows that the reaction of the elements only takes place when contrary or opposite elements come into contact, and from this combination, in a positive or negative form, all the substances and the products that we use every day in our existence are produced.
The harmony in the workings of a system of worlds depends upon the crucial magnetic point at which the two opposing forces of attraction and repulsion are crossed, balancing the inertial forces of bodies that rotate in space according to immutable cosmic laws.
A masculine cell called a spermatozoon is crossed with a feminine cell called an ovum, and from this crossing the new germ of life springs forth, which, by means of natural processes, will be transformed into a new being. The two opposing forces — masculine and feminine — make possible, by means of the cross, the birth of the new creature, which always continues its evolutive process within Nature.
Nothing can come into existence without the power of the Cross.
A sincere and ideal handshake crosses and harmonizes the mutual affection of two persons. Thus, the Cross is found even in the most ordinary acts and gestures of human existence.
A handsome young man walks down the street and encounters a beautiful young lady; their glances cross, and at that very moment the spark of love that captivates two souls and unites them in the indissoluble bonds of the most sublime and noble of feelings is born.
A seed is introduced into the earth, and upon crossing its power with the chemical elements that constitute the soil, the wonderful germination of a new plant takes place, which will give us food, perfume, beauty, and harmony.
Without the cross, nothing new exists, nor could anything old be transformed. So it is that the Gnostics worship the Cross as the most powerful symbolic expression of the laws of universal creation.
The Cross is the reason for being of all the facts of Nature, and in this law there are no exceptions.
When someone presents an idea about some philosophical, social, or scientific aspect, that idea is crossed with the thought of the listener or speaker, and from this crossing some agreement or disagreement is produced — both of which are useful for the verification or rectification of the exposed concepts and judgments.
The glance crosses with some being or object, and from this crossing experience is obtained regarding the beings and the things of the universe in which we exist.
The proteic substances of the foods we ingest, upon being crossed with our physiological life, are transformed into vital energy that helps us to live and to move within our physical and spiritual existence.
The cross encloses the mystery of all imaginable powers, whether physical, intellectual, moral, or spiritual. Thus, the Gnostics, in their wise devotion to the holy Cross, find the secret of all the powers of Nature and of the Cosmos.
There is no person who, philosophically, scientifically, and rationally, can find any fact that does not depend on the law of the Cross. Therefore, the worship of the cross is the most ancient and the most logical worship of humanity.
The cross of the Gnostics is the power of the Universe building atoms, molecules, cells, organs, beings, and worlds, by means of the wise reaction of the masculine and feminine forces of all that exists.
“One must learn to think like the philosopher and to feel like the artist,” for by uniting in precious harmony these two functions of the human personality, the supreme excellence of the human being is achieved.
This cross of thinking and feeling, in perfect concordance and harmony, is what allows the development of all the marvels of the spirit, all the prodigies of poetry, and all the heights of the philosophy of the spirit. Then, the man of action is born to redeem the slaves and to make humanity happy in the gardens of the Spirit.
Blessed and divine Cross! In your precious structure are hidden all the mysteries of Nature, all the wisdom of the Cosmos, and all the bliss of the worlds of the Spirit. We worship you, O sacred Cross — Cross of redemption, of holiness, and of the power of love. Cross of all powers, of all joys, of all that is sublime and beautiful in the Cosmos and in life!
Then, the man of action is born to redeem the slaves and to make humanity happy in the gardens of the Spirit.
Chapter Fifteen: THE AWAKENING OF CLAIRVOYANCE, INTRODUCTION
Introduction
The human body is the most complete work of the Creator; it is the laboratory of the Third Logos; in it are developed the divine functions of the great alchemists of Nature. Within it is constructed the building of the human being, with its 7 vehicles of existence and its 7 senses of perception — both external and internal.
The external sensory organs serve for seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching.
The internal sensory organs are for perceiving the vibrations and sensations of the Superior Worlds.
The physical body, or human machine, deserves the most profound respect and consideration, because it is the depository of the divine virtues of the Spirit; it is the dynamo of the Soul; the temple of the spiritual mysteries; in it, the marvelous functions of the Innermost are developed, the secrets of nature are kept, and the gifts of the celestial Hierarchies are made manifest.
The great enlightened ones have always rightly affirmed that the physical body is the Temple of God, in which the sacred Wisdom of the Eternal One is kept and the marvels of the universe are realized through the genius of the Creator.
The human being seeks God outside himself and even wishes to touch Him with dirty hands. He forgets that the Temple where one must speak with the Eternal One is one’s own body, and that it must be kept holy and pure by means of the most strict observance of the laws of life and of the customs that conform to the great moral law of the universe.
Saint Paul, the most dynamic apostle of Christianity, tells us as follows: “DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, AND THAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU? IF ANY MAN DEFILE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, GOD SHALL DESTROY HIM, FOR THE TEMPLE OF GOD IS HOLY, AND THAT TEMPLE ARE YOU.”
Given the opportunity that heaven is once again offering to human beings, the necessity of governing oneself by exact and just norms imposes itself, in order to take advantage in the most rational way of this short period of physical existence. To this end, the Universal Christian Gnostic Movement, which is at this hour the only torchbearer of the Wisdom that brings happiness to human beings, gives its norms and counsels in its books, magazines, and revolutionary essays.
Humanity, with rare exceptions, on account of the state of unconsciousness in which it lives, constantly violates the great cosmic laws and is given over to the vices and passions that destroy the human being and that aggravate human ignorance and bestiality more and more.
Enrique Valenzuela C., a Gnostic disciple and director of the Pleroma Lumisial in Santiago de Chile, author of the present commentary, has fortunately taken upon himself the task of providing us with this beautiful exposition of “The Awakening of Clairvoyance,” inspired by the first lesson of the “Zodiacal Esoteric Course” of our Reverend Master SAMAEL AUN WEOR.
Throughout the said commentary, he proves himself to be conversant with the various philosophical, religious, and esoteric systems that have been bequeathed to us as inheritance by all the civilizations of the world.
The present commentary being interesting from the Esoteric, philosophical-scientific, and religious point of view, we, who follow the doctrine that the Reverend Master SAMAEL AUN WEOR has taught us, have considered it our duty to publish this beautiful work for the benefit of those who study with seriousness and a will to learn the divine teachings of the GNOSIS.
It is necessary to clarify, in order to avoid confusions, that the endocrine glands are organs of the physical body and that the chakras are centers of energy, of subtle matter, that correspond to the astral body.
FRATERNALLY,
LUIS ALBERTO RENDEROS

Chapter Sixteen: THE AWAKENING OF CLAIRVOYANCE
Universal Christian Gnostic Movement
The Venerable Master SAMAEL AUN WEOR has said that all the Religions are precious pearls strung on the golden thread of Divinity.
This golden thread of Divinity is the GNOSIS, which is, in reality, the common ground of all religious doctrines.
If we make a comparative study, taking as our base the first lesson of the “Zodiacal Esoteric Course” of the Reverend Master SAMAEL AUN WEOR, we shall find a fundamental identity in the doctrines, ceremonies, and rites of all the religions of the world.
The GNOSIS demonstrates that the 7 lotuses of the Yogis; the 7 lights of the Candlestick of the Israelites; the 7 Christic chakras; the 7 churches of Asia; the 7 endocrine glands of physiological science; the 7 metals of alchemy; the 7 days of Genesis; the 7 cardinal sins; the 7 mortal sins; the 7 capital virtues; and so on, are different aspects of one and the same truth.
In the past obscurantist epoch of the Piscean Era, the proselytizing sacerdotal interests, in the midst of their wars, conflicts, and rivalries, were responsible for the spiritual destruction of the human beings who, in good faith, drew near them seeking the light of truth.
Pretending, in their exegetical myopia, to have monopolized the Truth, in an exclusive, total, and absolute form, they shut their followers within the four walls of an iron-bound dogmatism, declaring all those who did not follow them to be heretics, and pursuing those who at any moment tried to separate themselves from their prohibitionist system.
And within this prohibitionist system, they confined their ceremonies, rituals, laws, theological and traditional codes, in such a way that anyone who dared to question them or to investigate by his own means the truth would be punished with the most cruel sanctions.
And pretending to be the Universal Religion, they preached love, charity, peace, tolerance, the unity of human beings, and so many other virtues that they did not put into practice in their own daily life, even less so in their relations with those who did not think as they did, or who held different ideologies — which they took to be heresies.
Fortunately, all that obscurantist period belongs to the past. The separatist and partisan walls of the religions have been overcome by the libertarian impulse of the great Aquarian Age.
It is thus that the great conquest of free religious expression was attained on November 19, 1965, at the Second Vatican Council, presided over by His Holiness Paul VI, with the consent of two thousand three hundred ecumenical bishops who were assembled there. Truly, it was the greatest event in the history of Christianity. We could say, almost without exaggeration, that no event of equal magnitude has taken place during the entire Piscean Era.
One of the clauses of the “Declaration on Religious Liberty” establishes that every man has the right to seek God in conformity with the dictates of his own conscience and the impulses of his spirit.
The greatest promoter of this great ideological and conceptual revolution is the Great Avatar of Aquarius, SAMAEL AUN WEOR, who has provided humanity with the basis of universal morality that has been needed for so long.
That universal morality is Gnosis. It constitutes, as we have already said, the common ground of all the religions, of all the schools and sects.
The first lesson of the said course can be summarized in the following conclusions:
That the Zodiacal sign of Aries governs the head.
That during the influence of this sign, the Gnostic disciple must charge his head with Cosmic Energy, thereby greatly strengthening the Pineal and Pituitary glands.
That in these two glands resides the power of Clairvoyance.
That the Pineal is ruled by Mars and the Pituitary by Venus.
That the Constellation of Aries has two genii, which are SATAARAN and ZARAHIEL.
Indeed, these two genii are in charge of regulating and distributing the cosmic rays of Aries that influence the development of our cerebral functions.
The Pineal gland receives the two positive, masculine influences — that of the Sun and that of Mars — and its function is positive and constructive, although there are moments in which its functions vary according to the moral and spiritual state of the individual.
Thus, at times it acts under the influence of Michael, the Archangel of Light, who fights against the adversary Satan; at other times it acts under the influence of Samael, the Genius of the Constellation of Aries, the Reformer of the New Aquarian Age, who has been incarnated, as we know, by the Great Master and Patriarch of the Universal Christian Gnostic Movement, V.M. SAMAEL AUN WEOR.
The Pineal gland, or Epiphysis, is the cerebro-spinal antenna that captures the solar and Martian cosmic vibrations that nourish and revitalize all our brain functions.
The Edenic man, the ADAM KADMON, possessed 7 senses of perception, but 2 of them — Clairvoyance and Polyvoyance — were lost on account of the abuse of sex, which produced the atrophy of these wonderful faculties.
The Gnostic teaching affirms that:
“The man or woman who clumsily wastes his sexual energies fails in his business, because the supreme energy of his sexual hormones is exhausted, and the cerebral force-storehouse — namely, the Pineal gland — receives nothing for the renewal of its psychic powers.”
The Pineal gland is found to be very well developed in the great luminaries of Science, Art, Philosophy, and Spirituality.
The Intellect, or ENTELECHY, or ENTELEJEIA, or INTELLIGENCE, is the first EON or emanation of the Psychic World; it is the first emanation of the Wisdom of the World; it is the first SEPHIRA or splendor that arises from the bosom of the Pleroma.
The intellect or intelligence is the SEPHIRA BINAH, the first Splendor or Emanation of the intellectual world; it is the divine masculine and feminine attribute that gives life to and animates beings.
Intelligence corresponds to Arcanum IX in the Egyptian TAROT and is represented by a Hermit who walks supported by his staff and lights up his path with a lamp.
The great gnostic master Jesus, on a certain occasion, made known an enigmatic phrase, saying: “The lamp of the body is the eye; if the eye is good, the whole body will be full of light.”
The great gnostic John of Patmos, in his treatise on Gnostic Initiatic Philosophy, entitled “Apocalypse,” speaking to the Angel of the Church of Laodicea, said: “I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich, and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed… and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see.”
The Church of Laodicea corresponds, as we know, to the Pineal gland. The “eyes” are the inner faculties of clairvoyance.
To awaken clairvoyance is to open the Third Eye — that is, the lamp of the body, which allows the initiate to see in the Internal Worlds.
According to Hindu philosophy, the third eye is not developed as a corporeal organ of internal vision, but as an internal organ of psychic vibrations, which receives the messages of the Akasha or Universal Spirit.
The SAHASRARA CHAKRA corresponds to the Pineal gland and is called the Crown Lotus, which has 960 petals — that is, 96 sets of 10 each, which represent the 10 categories of intelligent splendor and creative power.
The number 9 is the number of Mars, the planetary regent of the constellation of ARIES, to which is also attributed the sword, the staff, and the lance — the symbols of the conquest of the Spirit over Matter.
The sword is the symbolic figure of the masculine attribute. On Lamaist altars, the masculine principle is represented by the sword and by the lightning bolt.
In the runic alphabet, the number 9 corresponds to the RUNE IS, whose meaning is the superior man, the magician of the heavens, the great Initiate.
Examining now the part corresponding to the Pituitary or Hypophysis gland, we find that this gland is regulated by Venus and is the gland of Internal Vision in the Superior Worlds. Its function is to secrete hormones that elevate the libido or sexual instinct.
These hormonal substances descend through the organism until they localize themselves in the sexual glands, regulating the secretions of the gonads and ovaries.
In some cases of excess of hormonal secretion of the Pituitary, the libido is so much increased that it becomes a torment that brings forth in the individual the most varied and impulsive sexual reactions.
This libido is the natural law of the procreative instinct, against which the apostle Paul of Tarsus fought, telling us: “I do the very thing I would not, and that which I would, that I do not.”
The great gnostic John of Patmos, writing the message to the Angel of the Church of Philadelphia, says: “Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept My word, and hast not denied My name.”
The Church of Philadelphia corresponds to the Pituitary gland, which receives the influence of the powerful goddess Venus, the marvelous regent of the constellation of Taurus.
The sixth Church of Asia, the Church of Philadelphia, corresponds in the science of yoga to the Frontal Lotus or AJNA CHAKRA, which has 96 petals.
Venus is the goddess of the awakening of Nature; she is the Phoenician ASTARTE. She is the Babylonian ISTAR. She is the Hindu PARVATI or KALI. She is the Roman VENUS, the Greek APHRODITE, the Persian ANAITIS, the Egyptian HATHOR, ISIS, MAUT, NEPHTHYS, the Scandinavian FRIDA, the goddess of love.
In the ancient civilizations, Venus is ASTAROTH, BARBATHOS, or BARBELOS, the Bisexual demon, also called SOPHIA ACHAMOTH or the Gnostic-Pythian goddess of the Pleroma.
In the Runic alphabet, the number 6 corresponds to the RUNE KAUM, temptation, subject to Venus. The RUNE KAUM signifies seduction, lust, and the temptations of the lower nature.
In the Egyptian tarot, the number 6 corresponds to Arcanum VI, which expresses on the spiritual plane the science of good and evil; on the moral plane, the freedom to choose; on the physical plane, choice.
Now then, we know that the 96 petals of the Frontal lotus or AJNA CHAKRA are gathered into two groups of 48 petals each, regulated by the anterior lobe and the posterior lobe of the Pituitary gland.
The anterior lobe of the Pituitary secretes 6 hormones, among which are found the gonadotropic and the thyrotropic. The first goes to stimulate the sexual glands, and the second the thyroid.
The posterior lobe of the Pituitary has much relation with the brain and a direct connection with the optic nerve.
The anterior lobe of the Pituitary is ruled by the Archangel Anael and by the fornicating goddesses of the Cult of LILITH, who conduct human beings toward homosexuality, masturbation, sexual perversion, infanticide, and abortion.
On the other hand, the posterior lobe of the Pituitary is ruled by the archangel Gabriel, who leads human beings toward Christian morality, faithfulness in marriage, normal sexuality, fecundation, and the development of the family.
The anterior lobe and the posterior lobe of the Pituitary gland are feminine but rival forces — like the two women of Arcanum VI of the Tarot — and they constitute the secret aspects of the conflict between Virtue and Vice in human conduct.
These two rival forces are like the two women of Arcanum VI. Virtue and Vice. The Virgin and the Whore. Heva and Lilith.
They are antagonistic forces of Virgo and Scorpio: the first struggling for sleeping sexuality, the second for fornication, fertilization, and reproduction.
In the apocalyptic drama of the woman clothed with the Sun, who has already overcome the lunar influence and who is on the point of giving birth to the marvelous child of light, the symbolic representation of the conquest by the Spirit of the perverse fascinations of the Lunar Hierarchy is given.
Hence, one can understand the bipolarity of the influence which the Pituitary gland exercises in the system of glandular operations of the human body.
This is due to the fact that Venus, like the Moon, is also dual. She is the morning star, or Lucifer, the Theurgic Star of Spiritual Initiation; and at the same time, she is the cosmic Whore who conducts the human being to the abysses of perdition through the doors of sexual perversion.
Venus, or Astaroth, has the same duality as SHIVA or SHAKTI, who, according to Hindu conception, is the dynamic force of Nature.
SHIVA is a Hindu divinity of a dual character. On the one hand, He is a divinity of peace and love, and on the other, of war and destruction.
The Pituitary gland on the one hand produces the ENS SEMINIS, which is the essence of SHIVA and of the Moon — the seminal liquor that is the marvelous source of the Wine of Light that vivifies the universe.
In Bombay, in front of the caves of Elephanta, there is a sculpture carved in the living rock 5.80 m. high, which represents the trinity of the principal Hindu divinities: BRAHMA, the creator; VISHNU, the sustainer; and SHIVA, the destroyer. They are accompanied by the two feminine forces, the active and the passive, of the Cosmic Mother.
These two energetic potencies are represented as the wives of SHIVA. The passive forces have the names of UMA, PARVATI, GAURI, JAGAN-MATA, BHAVANI, and ANNAPURNA; the active forces have the names of DURGA, KALI, CHANDI, BHAIRAVI, and SHYAMA.
They are the two antagonistic and rival feminine potencies — Venus and Astaroth, Heva and Lilith, SOPHIA ACHAMOTH and BARBELOS — that exist in the bipolar function of the Pituitary gland.
The Pituitary gland was represented by the ancient Egyptians by the figure of an erect serpent, with its tail formed by twelve curls. It is the URAEUS, the Sacred Serpent, the protector of the kings and the Pharaohs.
In the esoteric philosophy of the Ophite Gnostics, worshipers of the serpent, the Pituitary gland is the serpent of desire that becomes erect under the impulse of the venereal force, awakening all the latent libidinal potencies in the depths of the soul.
We know that this serpent of desire is the libido — the instinctive sexual force that induces one to satisfy the procreative function.
In the sixth dwelling place, Saint Teresa of Jesus speaks of the ineffable joy, a mixture of pain and pleasure — pain of separation from God and the pleasure of nearing union with the Divine Beloved.
The great gnostic Valentinus of Alexandria considered the Pituitary gland allegorically as one of the two breasts of the Eternal Mother. From her two breasts flowed the spiritual milk that nourishes the souls in their evolution.
Thought is, as it were, an unfortunate abortion, the product formed of unsatisfied desire — a product which its mother, Wisdom, must withdraw from the perceptive sphere of the soul, in order to lead it to a higher region.
This wandering and deformed thought is transformed into an image of its mother, Wisdom, who, beholding her child, is filled with love and converts him into a being capable of mature understanding.
This allegory is the gnostic teaching of the Alchemical Transmutation of the ENS SEMINIS. The wisdom of the bottom up: from the lower to the higher, by means of the sexual transmutation that brings about the awakening of the inferior centers of the soul.
The ENS SEMINIS is the gonadal substance which, in biblical language, is the metallic serpent that must be lifted up upon the staff, like the staff of Moses in the desert, the staff of Aaron, the staff of the Patriarchs.
This is the igneous serpent, KUNDALINI, which sleeps coiled in three-and-a-half turns in the region of the sacred bone, at the base of the spinal column, and which awakens in the chaste and pure human being who practices the sublime and divine science of Sexual Magic.
In the table of SEPHIROTS or splendors, we also find that the tremendous flow of cosmic energies that come from the Superior Worlds, on entering the human being, are organized into 7 splendors that constitute the 7 Powers of the World of the Spirit.
The most sublime and venerable Master of the Major Mysteries, SAMAEL AUN WEOR, in the first lesson of the “Zodiacal Esoteric Course,” teaches us the practice of the cerebral charging of the Cosmic Energies of Mars and Venus, in order to revitalize the Pineal and Pituitary glands.
By means of continued practice of the exercises of Aztec Christic Magic and of White Tantric Yoga, the conscious igneous fire of the Sacred Serpent KUNDALINI is awakened, and the marvelous awakening of the powers of clairvoyance is achieved.
When the shock occurs in the place where these two contrary forces meet face to face, the marvelous light of internal vision is produced.
In the caduceus of Mercury, the two energies are graphically represented, and the light that springs from the magnetic encounter of the two serpents is the ineffable wisdom of the spirit.
This psychic light is the inner light of intuition. It is the light of Clairvoyance. It is the third Eye that opens upon the forehead of the Sage, like the seal of the Living God, like the sign of inner glory.
In the parable of the ten virgins who awaited the bridegroom, we see that those who had no oil in their lamps could not enter the bridal chamber. The oil is the ENS SEMINIS, the divine sexual energy that is transmuted into the wine of LIGHT.
This union with God is what Saint Teresa of Jesus desired ardently and counseled to her religious sister.
This “joy with very great silence” is the state of SAMADHI, or state of super-consciousness or Christic consciousness, in which the soul becomes one with the Divine.
It is then that the Gnostic student has succeeded in making real within himself the dream of the ancient sages: the wisdom of the union with Divinity through the sacred power of the Christ within.
It is then that the Gnostic student has reached the Venustic Initiation upon filling the cup of Venus with the Wine of Light of the transmuted seminal liquor.
It is then that the Gnostic student enters into the order of the Templar Knights who have rediscovered the secret of the Holy Grail in the depths of their own beings.
It is then that the Gnostic student receives the initiatic degree of Supreme Magus and attains the power to perform marvels and wonders, like the great Masters of all the ages.
It is then that the Gnostic student receives the incorruptible crown of Glory, upon achieving the regeneration of his being and the awakening of the divine powers that sleep within the depths of his soul.
It is then that the Gnostic student is no longer a student, but an initiated gnostic, and may already, in turn, become a teacher and guide of other souls who seek the path of the light.
This is the light that emanated from the face of Moses on Sinai. This is the light that emanated from the face of Jesus on Tabor.
It is the imponderable light that is born of the hidden Sun, the AIN SOPH, the Absolute, and which has its manifestation in the visible Sun of our solar system.
It is the indescribable light of the third Logos, the Holy Spirit, which appears as tongues of fire upon the heads of the apostles on the day of Pentecost.
It is the light, like a Flame of Fire, that is symbolized in the torch which springs forth from the head of BAPHOMET, the divinity of the Templars and of the great Christic Gnostics.
The gnostic BAPHOMET shows us that the central point or axis of the human personality is SEX — and that, through the transmutation of the sexual energies, the awakening of the divine powers within the human being is achieved.
To conclude, we shall say that in this brief commentary not everything related to this aspect of esoteric science has been said. There remain many things to investigate, to study, and to experience by the disciples who follow the path of Gnosis.
Inverential Peace.

Chapter Seventeen: GNOSTIC CONGRESS
ECUMENICAL LATIN-AMERICAN GNOSTIC CHRISTIAN CONGRESS TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SAN SALVADOR, REPUBLIC OF EL SALVADOR
ON DECEMBER 27 OF THE YEAR 1972.
In these instants of world crisis and bankruptcy of all spiritual values, it becomes necessary to take measures of the deepest character to provide humanity with the rational and Christic guidance that it needs to confront with success the challenges of these times of confusion and disorientation.
The hour of great decisions has arrived, and there is no time to be lost. We are at the dilemma of being or not being. We are at the crossroads of life or death — of being saved or being lost.
It is necessary to resolve problems; it is urgent to create a platform of principles; it is indispensable to organize the Gnostic Christian Movement in such a way that it may respond with efficiency to the needs of the hour, providing humanity with the guidance and the example that it requires.
