PREFACE

By the venerable master GARGHA KUICHINES.

Official medicine finds itself at the dawn of endocrinology, the science that studies the glands, ganglia, and so on, of the human body.

The physical body is the vehicle in which the soul moves; the physical body is a marvelous laboratory for the occultist. As you study this work you should take advantage of your marvelous laboratory to put into practice what you study. When you do not understand something, close the book and study it again another day, and each time you will receive better information. The ordinary person is not only a slave to his vehicle, but takes pleasure in being a slave to it.

Man has at his disposal seven real bodies: physical, vital, astral, mental, will, soul, and spirit. There are others much higher that are studied once we have mastered those listed. The vital body is similar to the physical one; many ailments arise from this body, and little is achieved by medicating only the physical. Physicians fail in curing the illness that the molecular body reflects; usually it is the vital body that is taken to the inner temple of Alden so that the masters of medicine may work upon it, and surprising results are obtained.

The astral body is vague and vaporous in the ordinary person, but luminous in the person who takes advantage of the creative energy, who practices the scientific chastity taught in all the works of Gnostic Wisdom. It is called astral because it is luminous with the color of the stars; this vehicle moves at fantastic speeds. To go out in it, the devotee must invoke his inner Father, his Innermost, in this way: “My Father, I beg of Thee, take me to the temple of Alden” — for example — and the Father does the same as the physical father when his child asks to be taken where he wishes; if there is no danger, the physical father takes him.

The mental body has been more studied by medical science; there are physician-psychologists who treat madness as a mental illness, but they treat it by means of the physical body, and little is achieved. Better work is done using the elementals of plants, by means of Elemento-therapy combined with the juice of plants. There are those who say that the use of brews cooked in kitchen vessels is unsanitary — foolish people. If that did harm, whole peoples would already have been exterminated, because it is in those same pots that they prepare all their food.

The body of the Will, when we know and manage it, teaches us to do the will of the Father on earth as in heaven; before this, man fashions a God to suit his whim, to ask of him and command him as he pleases. The body of the Soul: this body is found bottled up within the psychological I in most people; with Gnostic studies, man liberates the true person and works wonders. And the body of the Divine Spirit, that is to say, the divine Monad that governs the whole ensemble called man.

THE MENTAL BODY. Let us tell you, dear reader, one of the thousands of experiences in which we have had to use practical magic to heal the mental body: in a town of the neighboring Department of the Atlántico, we were called by the family of a girl of about fourteen. A Gnostic Sanctuary was operating in the home. The girl had been attacked by tenebrous entities, and this had driven her mad; the child was undernourished, and she had to be attended to on both planes — physical and mental.

We found the house full of neighbors, because the girl talked and talked about everything the Gnostics did in the home, since a Sanctuary was there, and all those tales interested the neighbors to the detriment of the household. To make the sick girl be silent, we ritualized a vine or grape plant and asked the elemental to seal her mouth and silence her. We took a leaf from the vine, wrapped it with banana fiber, ordering the patient that she should remain like the leaf — sealed and silent.

This had excellent results, and the neighbors left the home in peace because there was no more news to be had. Fifteen days later, the parents, alarmed because the girl was making herself understood by signs, called us back. We asked for the vine leaf we had wrapped for the girl, released it, and asked the elemental to allow the patient to speak again — but she no longer had any madness. The vine elemental had done the inner work and healed the illness, and externally she had been fed proteins and foods rich in vitamins.

We could write many books with stories like the foregoing, but the most important thing is to know that you, dear reader, can study and work wonders after making yourself “chaste, pure, and holy in thought, word, and deed.” We have already taken that course and served many; now it is up to you to prepare yourselves to serve suffering humanity. In this way you help us, and you serve the Third Factor of the Revolution of Consciousness.

When present-day medicine comes to know the value, the reason, and the purpose of so many ganglia and glands, and of all those studied in this treatise on endocrinology, a great step will have been taken. Already there are many young people studying medicine in the universities who are at the same time students of Gnosis; they must be very prudent so as not to clash with the old structures. Read carefully Chapter 10, THE SPLEEN, and see the importance of this organ in relation to astral projection and the waste that accumulates during the day in our physical body.

To attend to the interest of the students of Gnostic Wisdom in occult knowledge — and to that foolish irritation with what is called historical materialism — let us see what happens within us when we take advantage not only of the four elements of nature, but also of that fifth element which fills and floods all things: the Ether. Above all because, now that our planet Earth has entered the constellation of Aquarius, man will master the Ether and travel at fantastic speeds presently undreamed of.

Within us there are regions where each of the five elements of nature governs: Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.

Ether governs in the head, from the crown to the space between the eyebrows. Sudashiva is the God of Ether; the pungtas are the substance of which the ether is composed. We can invoke the pungtas, asking permission of Sudashiva to allow us to order and command the pungtas, which are called with the mantram HA, pronounced “haaa,” prolonging the vowel, as the studentship knows well. With those elements we can cleanse our cerebral center, give life and force to our brain, cleanse memory, intellect, mind, senses, and even consciousness with full knowledge of the cause. How are they improved? By ordering the pungtas to work upon our brain, cerebellum, and cerebrospinal column; this God has dominion over the entire wireless network through which the chakras function.

The God of the elementals of air within us is named Ishuara; we can invoke him to order and command the sylphs and sylphides. The mantram for calling them is YA. These govern from the space between the eyebrows to the upper part of the heart, so that with these elementals we can improve all our senses, including the arms, which are located in that region. The elements of nature obey only the chaste one, the one who does not lose his seminal matter and who knows the wisdom of transmutation.

From the space between the eyebrows down to the heart are situated all the physical senses: sight, smell, taste, and touch, which means that we can repair them. The sylphs are very beautiful and can increase the beauty of a man or a woman. The sylphs can make a woman’s breasts firm, and many other things besides. But one must study, one must take maximum advantage of the creative energy.

Rudra is the God of the elements of Fire within us. The mantram for calling the salamanders of fire is RA, pronounced prolonging the R and the A. Fire governs from the heart down to the level of the anus, so that all the organs in that region may be given life by the salamanders of fire. Example: a person whose intestines are filled with fatty deposits can have the salamanders cleanse the body of that element; fat is not dissolved by anything but fire, and fire causes it to leave the body. We can repair our body by relying on Rudra, God of Fire.

Narayana, God of Water within us, governs from the anus to the knees; with the mantram VA, pronounced prolonging the V and the A, one calls the undines and nereids. The undines and nereids are most beautiful beings; they can give us beauty if we know how to command them, and they can wash and heal our whole body. When the devotee takes a bath at home, he may ask Narayana to grant him the grace of ordering and commanding the undines and nereids; he pronounces the mantram VA three times and orders the elementals of water to enter his body and give it life, pronouncing at the same time the mantram CLIM, aloud or mentally, and so works with these elements.

Brahma, God of the elementals of Earth: with the mantram LA we can invoke the gnomes of the earth and command them. Brahma governs from the knees down to the soles of the feet. Just as the gnomes produce most beautiful precious stones, metals of great value for man, and produce all food, so too can they serve the magician when he learns to govern them.

Many Gnostics go to the seashore, where they bury themselves in bathing suits, leaving the face and head exposed, to work with the gnomes of the earth and charge themselves with energy.

They go into the sea and work with the undines and nereids.

They lie upon the water and work with the salamanders released from the nimbus of the sun.

They take advantage of the sea breeze and work with the sylphs and sylphides, performing wonders with those elementals.

Face up upon the water, they invoke the pungtas of absolute space and work with the cosmic ether, filling their brains with that primary energy.

All of this is better than getting together to argue and quarrel, holding meetings under the pretext of discussing the works of Samael, not realizing that the intellect of the readers is defective because the owner of that intellect is filled with defects. If we are liars, our senses deceive us. Defects give physical form to our personality; we are the result of them. God is simple; everything else is compound. We must make ourselves simple in order to seek Him, and not forget that he who lies sins against the Father who is truth, and He cannot then pour out upon us the grace of the wisdom by which to govern and command over all that has life.

Foods also give us their power when we know the science, which allows us, with little food, to extract the maximum power for ourselves.

The foods which the earth produces — among which grains and cereals stand out — may be petitioned of Mudra, who is the God of the elements that allow us to take advantage of the creative energy enclosed in many grains, pronouncing at the same time, mentally or aloud, the mantram KRIM. With this mantram we extract the CHATTY potential of food, pronouncing the mantram KRIM while we are assimilating those foods. The CHATTY is the Christic energy enclosed in those foods. The negative part of the CHATTY is called TAMA; many gluttons eat and eat and never get beyond the TAMA.

Chapter One: THE PINEAL GLAND

The pineal gland is situated at the back of the brain. This little gland is only five millimeters in diameter. It is surrounded by a fine and very important sand-like material. The pineal gland is a small reddish-gray tissue. This little gland is intimately related to the sexual organs. The pineal gland secretes certain hormones that regulate all the progress, evolution, and development of the sexual organs. Official science maintains that after these hormones have achieved their objective — namely the complete development of the sexual organs — it then degenerates into a fibrous tissue no longer capable of secreting hormones.

Descartes maintained that this gland was the seat of the soul. The Easterners maintain that this gland is an atrophied third eye. When the medical science of the Western world discovered that this gland is only a small reddish-gray tissue at the back of the brain, it rejected the affirmations of Descartes and of the Easterners. It would have been better not to lay down scientific dogmas, but to study all concepts in an eclectic and didactic manner.

The yogis of India maintain that the pineal gland is the window of Brahma, the eye of diamond, the eye of polyvidence, which through a certain special training gives us the perception of the ultra.

Western science ought to study these concepts of Eastern yoga. Western science is not all of science. It is urgent also to study Eastern science. We need an integral, total culture.

The microscope allowed us to perceive objectively the infinitely small. The telescope allowed us to see the infinitely large. If the pineal gland allows us to see the ultra of all things, we should study Eastern yoga and develop that marvelous gland. The yogis of India have practices by which one can attain a special super-functioning of the pineal gland. We then perceive the ultra. To deny these affirmations of Eastern yoga is not scientific. It is necessary to study and analyze.

The wise of the East say that the potency of the pineal gland depends on sexual potency. Now we can explain to ourselves the scientific bases of chastity.

There is no doubt that all the great biblical seers were great pinealists. Scientific chastity, combined with certain practices, allowed them to see the ultra of nature.

The Gnostics say that in the pineal gland is the atom of the Holy Spirit. Biology is determined to investigate all these things. The Easterners affirm that the lotus of the thousand petals is found in the pineal gland. There is no doubt that this is the crown of the saints.

Men of genius have the pineal gland very highly developed. In cretins it has been discovered that the pineal gland is atrophied.

The great phenomena of mass fascination so common in India are only possible when the authentic fakir has a pineal gland full of great vigor.

The secretions of the endocrine glands are absorbed directly by the blood. The blood carries all the secretions of the endocrine glands to other organs or glands, which are then driven to greater effort, to more intense work. The word “hormone” comes from a Greek word meaning “to excite.” Truly, hormones have the power to excite the entire organism, to oblige it to work.

The secretions of the endocrine glands also influence the mind. Now we understand why the Hindus devote themselves to controlling the mind. By means of the mind we can regulate our hormonal functions.

Some Hindu sages have remained buried for many months without dying.

Biology cannot remain indifferent to this. Biologists need to investigate all these marvels of Asia.

Immanuel Kant admits a “nisus formativus” for our physical body. The wise of the East believe that this nisus formativus is a fluidic body in contact with the grand sympathetic nervous system and with the liquid nervous system. There is no doubt that this fluidic body is the astral body of the medieval physicians. Within the astral body are the human mind and all those principles that are purely psychic.

The senses of that astral body seem to emanate like lotus flowers from the very depths of the endocrine glands. That lotus of the thousand petals mentioned by the yogis of India is a psychic sense of the astral body.

The special development of the pineal gland allows us to perceive the astral body and its psychic senses, which emanate like lotus flowers from the endocrine glands themselves.

Medical science plays with the mechanics of phenomena, but does not know the vital ground. The special development of the pineal gland allows us to see that vital ground itself.

Chapter Two: THE PITUITARY GLAND

The pituitary gland is very small. Biology affirms that this gland is only the size of a pea and hangs marvelously from the very base of the brain, resting harmoniously upon the sphenoid bone. In this gland we find a marvelous trinity. The law of the triangle governs everything created.

Certainly the pituitary gland consists of three parts: two lobes and a middle part. Here is the triangle — the marvelous law of all creation. Without the frontal or anterior lobe of the pituitary gland, biologists believe that life is absolutely impossible.

The frontal lobe of this gland is in charge of overseeing the size of the structure of the cellular community. Now, we must know that in this overseeing there is also regulation and control. Only thus can we explain why life becomes impossible without the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.

The hyper-functioning of the anterior lobe of the pituitary gives rise to giant human beings. When the functioning of the frontal lobe is insufficient, we have dwarves. Thus it is logical to suppose that without the frontal lobe of the pituitary gland life would be impossible, since it regulates the size of the structure of the cellular community.

Certain forms of idiocy and blindness are also due to some abnormalities of the frontal lobe of the pituitary.

The function of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland is also to marvelously tone the involuntary muscles of the organism. The secretion of the pituitary also affects the excretion of water by the kidneys.

Physicians use the pituitary to assist in difficult childbirths. The Master H. P. B. says that the pituitary gland is the page and torchbearer of the pineal gland. Doctor Krumm Heller, professor of medicine at the University of Berlin, said that between the pineal and pituitary glands there exists a very subtle canal or capillary, which has already disappeared in cadavers. Thus, these two glands are connected by that fine canal. There is no doubt about electro-biology and about the bio-electromagnetic forces. Why not, then, accept a bio-electromagnetic exchange between the pituitary and pineal glands? The hour has come to analyze all the possibilities of the sensorial mystical and the psycho-somatic, without fanaticism, without prejudice, and without dogmatism.

The yogis of Hindustan say that from the pituitary gland is born the lotus flower of two petals. Western scientists, instead of laughing at these affirmations, should study them profoundly. To laugh at what we do not know is not scientific. That lotus flower is situated in the astral body, exactly between the two eyebrows. The sages of Hindustan call these lotus flowers chakras. The yogis maintain that the pituitary chakra makes us clairvoyant. In the sacred land of the Vedas there are many secret practices for developing clairvoyance. The Hindus say that the frontal chakra has eight major powers and thirty-six minor ones.

The clairvoyant can perceive the ultra of nature. The clairvoyant can see the astral body, within which are all the psychic and spiritual principles of man. The clairvoyant perceives the fourth dimension.

Glandular energetism cannot be despised by the biologist. The bio-electromagnetic exchange between the pituitary and pineal glands makes us clairvoyant.

There seems to exist a certain relation between the atom of copper and the pituitary gland. Some sages used copper to develop clairvoyance. Nostradamus would remain entire hours gazing fixedly at the water held in a vessel of pure copper. That wise physician made prophecies that have been fulfilled with complete exactness through time. The astrologers affirm that the pituitary gland is influenced by Venus, and that copper is also influenced by Venus. Only thus can we understand the intimate relation that exists between copper and the pituitary gland.

When the Catholic priests who came from Spain during the conquest reached a group of Aztec priests, something interesting happened. Tradition says that the Catholic priests, while catechizing the Indians, spoke to them of angels, archangels, and so on. After all this, the Indian priests invited the Catholic priests to eat. It is said that, among the dishes served, the Catholic priests ate a very tasty cactus. That cactus momentarily awakened the clairvoyance of the Spanish priests. They then saw angels, archangels, and so on. Their astonishment was terrible, and the Catholic priests did not know what to do. Meanwhile, the Indians said with a smile: “These angels and archangels of whom you speak — we have known them for a long time!”

Tradition says that the Catholic priests had the Aztec priests killed, considering them sorcerers or wizards. There is no doubt about this cactus, which has the power to awaken clairvoyance instantly in whoever eats it. That cactus is peyote. In the state of Mexico, the peyote suitable for clairvoyance cannot be obtained. Whoever wishes to obtain it must look for it in Chihuahua or in San Luis Potosí. It must be chewed; only ripe peyote works — when dry it does not.

Biology cannot underestimate peyote, nor maintain in a dogmatic and intransigent manner that clairvoyant perceptions are hallucinations. If the first wise men who were able to see microbes through the microscope had asserted that those microbes did not exist and that what they saw through the lens were hallucinations, then to this day we would still be ignorant of the existence of microbes. We need to be less dogmatic, we need to be more studious, more eclectic, more didactic. The pituitary gland secretes seven kinds of hormones. The value of the pituitary gland in obstetrics is also incalculable.

The eminent writer Doctor Jorge Adoum, distinguished Gnostic writer and great master of the Greater Mysteries of the White Lodge, said that the atom of the Cosmic Christ is found in the pituitary gland, while the atom of the Father is found in the magnetic field at the root of the nose.

Biology analyzes and studies the scientific concepts of all sages. Biology has now emerged from the horrible materialism of the eighteenth century, and is currently beginning to study all the physical, psychic, and spiritual potentialities of the glands of internal secretion.

The clairvoyant can see the astral body, within which are all the psychic and spiritual principles of man.

Chapter Three: THE THYROID GLAND

The thyroid gland is of a beautiful dark red color. The thyroid gland has two lobes that endocrinologists know very well. The biologist delights in contemplating those two beautiful lobes, wisely united by a marvelous isthmus. (Here is the perfect triangle.)

The two lobes of the thyroid gland are situated exactly on either side of Adam’s apple.

The thyroid gland is exposed to two fundamental diseases: hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The former is characterized by too much secretion, the latter by too little. Hyperthyroidism can be remedied by surgery. Hypothyroidism can in no way be remedied by surgery. Hypothyroidism can only be cured by administering thyroxine to the patient. (Principle of the thyroid secretion.) Truly, thyroxine is an iodic compound, very important in medicine.

Thyroxine is intimately related with the whole metabolism of man’s physical body. When the patient suffers from hyperthyroidism, the excess of thyroxine intensely increases the combustion of foods. The result is then an acceleration of the normal rhythm of breathing and of the heart.

In hypothyroidism, metabolism becomes slower. If a child becomes ill with hypothyroidism, all the development of his body and brain is horribly retarded. When hypothyroidism appears in an adult, he becomes mentally dulled; his nails and hair grow slowly and abnormally; any physical effort fatigues him terribly; his skin becomes dry, scaly, and somewhat thickened.

The biological iodine disinfects the whole organism. Without the biological iodine of the thyroid, our human organism could not live. The Rosicrucian physicians affirm that the thyroid gland is influenced by Venus, and that the parathyroid glands are influenced by Mars. The famous physician Arnold Krumm Heller, professor of medicine at the University of Berlin, asserted that between Venus and Mars there is a terrible struggle that repeats itself between the thyroid and parathyroid glands.

On one occasion an old peasant who could neither read nor write assured us that he had cured himself of goiter by applying to it a sheet of lead. The peasant told us he had made two small holes in a square sheet of lead so as to tie a thread or cord through them. With that cord he tied the sheet of lead to his throat, leaving the sheet placed over the root of the goiter. He assured us that for three months he wore that sheet on his neck, and that he was radically cured. He told us that some of his relatives had also been cured with that sheet of lead.

Metallotherapy is practically still in an embryonic state. There is no doubt about the great possibilities of metallotherapy. We have known some South American peasants who use salt and morning saliva as a sole remedy against goiter. They mixed these two elements when the moon was waning. Then they applied their remedy, and they say that they were cured of that ugly disease. Biology is willing to study deeply all these therapeutic systems of the peasants, because we are convinced that many of those grandmothers’ formulas saved on many occasions the lives of illustrious men.

The yogis of India say that the root of the laryngeal chakra emerges from the thyroid gland. The great physician Sivananda of Hindustan asserts that this chakra has sixteen lotus petals. Western scientists laugh at what they do not know. It would be better to study what we do not know. The wise of the East admit a super-hearing capable of registering the waves of the ultra. They call this super-hearing clairaudience.

The laryngeal chakra is the center of clairaudience. Hypothyroidism dulls the minds of adults. This demonstrates to us the intimate relation of the thyroid gland with the mind. If the thyroid and the mind are so interrelated, why not admit the Eastern thesis on the chakra of the thyroid and conceptual synthesism? The sages of India say that by developing the laryngeal chakra they attain conceptual synthesism. Physics accepts the ether. The Hindus say that the ether is only the condensation of the Akasha Tattva.

The great Asian yogis say that matter is a condensation of the ether, and that the ether in turn is a condensation of the Akasha Tattva, in which they find, in the last analysis, the primordial root of matter. The Hindus consider that Akasha is primordial sound, and that its instrument in man is the creative larynx.

Physician Sivananda asserts that with the development of the thyroid chakra we control Akasha and manage to live even during the profound nights of the Great Pralaya.

Physician Sivananda — eminent endocrinologist and Hindu yogi — asserts that by awakening the chakra of the thyroid gland we acquire clairaudience. If a yogi immerses himself in daily meditation with the purpose of hearing some distant friend, then, while drowsing, he will be able to hear his words. With inner meditation, clairaudience is awakened.

The secretion of the endocrine glands is intimately related to the entire order and control of the autonomic nervous system, of the so-called involuntary muscles.

Glandular secretions govern with supreme cosmic-physiological wisdom the entire marvelous metabolism of the physical organism. The endocrine secretions control the growth and development of the entire great cellular community.

The secretion of the endocrine glands totally controls the characteristics of sexuality.

The thyroid gland has a truly marvelous auric radiation.

Chapter Four: THE PARATHYROID GLANDS

The parathyroid glands must never be removed, because it is duly demonstrated that terrible convulsions and inevitable death follow.

The two pairs of parathyroid glands normally regulate, in a way full of admirable wisdom, all the calcium values that abound in the cells and in the blood.

The secretions of the four marvelous parathyroid glands have to perform all this work of control over the calcium of the cells and of the blood.

This difficult work is only possible thanks to the secretions of the four parathyroid glands.

Truly, these glands are very small, and are located on each wing of the thyroid.

By observing carefully, biologists can see a pair of small bodies the size of a broad bean.

Astrology maintains that these glands are regulated by Mars.

Official science only sees the glands from a purely materialistic point of view.

The science of the Gnostic sages goes further.

In every atom there is a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness.

Every cell is a triad composed of matter, energy, and consciousness.

Every gland of internal secretion is a true microcosmic laboratory. The interrelation of the endocrine glands, the wise exchange of biochemical products, the infinite perfection with which the glands work, demonstrates to us to the fullest the existence of certain intelligent coordinators whose root must be sought in cosmic consciousness.

Wherever there is life, there is consciousness. Consciousness is inherent in life as moisture is inherent in water. In Soviet Russia there are currently fifteen million Muslims. This is evidence that the materialism of Marx has totally failed.

Every machine is organized according to laws. Every machine has a steering wheel, its lever from which it is governed, and a pilot who controls and directs it. Why should our human organism be an exception? The human body is a perfect machine built in the workshops of nature by cosmic consciousness. That machine has its steering wheel or lever from which it is governed and directed. That steering wheel is the grand sympathetic nervous system. The pilot who controls that machine is the Innermost (the spirit). Thus, the Innermost, clothed in his astral body, controls by means of the lever of the grand sympathetic nervous system the entire organism and all the hormonal secretions.

Chapter Five: THE THYMUS GLAND

When the human being passes beyond sexual maturity, the thymus gland enters decrepitude. This is already demonstrated.

The thymus gland is situated at the very base of the neck.

The thymus gland has a structure of a wholly irregular form.

This gland is intimately related to the mammary glands. Now we understand why a mother’s milk is totally irreplaceable.

The thymus gland regulates the vitalism of the child.

The astrologers say that this gland is influenced by the Moon. The Gnostic sages wish to preserve the thymus gland, and not let it enter decrepitude.

When this gland is active, the organism does not age. The wise physicians of antiquity said that the vowel “A,” when pronounced wisely, has the power to make the thymus gland vibrate. The old physicians of antiquity used that wise mantram so popularized among the people, called ABRACADABRA, supposedly to keep the thymus gland active throughout life. In the pagan temples they pronounced that word forty-nine times in the following way:

Chapter Six: ABR

It is said that they prolonged the sound of the vowel “A.”

Some physicians are beginning to heal with musical sounds; it is good to know that the voice of the physician, and each of his words, is a source of life or of death for the patients.

Endocrinological science must study the intimate relations that exist between music and the endocrine glands. It is better to investigate, analyze, and understand than to laugh at what we do not know.

When the child is hungry, the mother must give him the breast. Maternity manuals that make the child suffer hunger for hours on end are a crime against public health.

The desire of the human being to correct nature is manifestly absurd. When the child is hungry he cries, and it is a crime against nature to deny him food.

Chapter Seven: THE HEART

The heart is really a double pump. One side of the heart pumps the blood in one direction while the other pumps the blood in another, in two opposite directions, but they complement and harmonize with each other in a marvelous way. The most interesting thing is that the two opposed streams of blood pumped by the heart do not collide, but mutually help each other to advance.

The heart is truly the sun of our organism. The heart is the greatest marvel of creation. Yet there are eminently cultured and educated people who do not know the physiology of the heart.

It is admirable to contemplate the passage of blood through that mighty river of the aorta. That artery is truly a mighty and beautiful river. We are filled with admiration and mystical beatitude in contemplating how that great river full of life branches off into lesser rivers, small arteries, and then into streamlets that carry life everywhere to nourish and give life to millions of microscopic creatures (cells, germs, and so on). All those creatures are a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness.

All those beings of the infinitely small adore us as their God. The smallest streamlets of blood are the capillary vessels. Within the network of these capillary webs lie the cells of the various tissues and organs.

Thus, the cells live from the streams of blood pumped by the heart. The cells are composed of molecules, and these of atoms. Every atom is a true universe in miniature. Every atom is a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness. The atomic intelligences are governed by the atom NOUS, which dwells in the left ventricle of the heart.

The aspirant atoms of the heart obey the orders of the atom NOUS and transmit them to the engineer atoms that direct the activity of each organ. The atomic workers of each organ obey the orders of the engineer atoms and work according to those orders.

There are also a multitude of indolent atoms — these are the ones that cause illnesses. The atom NOUS of the heart works under the direction of the architect atom, and the latter under the orders of the Innermost.

The heart is a hollow muscle the size of a fist. It looks rather like a pear. The heart shrinks and expands, contracts and relaxes ceaselessly. This is the ebb and flow of the great ocean of life. All life has its systole and its diastole. Everything pulses and repulses; in everything there is a rhythm, a pulse, in the infinitely small as well as the infinitely great. “As below, so above.” “As above, so below.” That is the law of the great life.

In the heart there are two marvelous polarities: positive-negative. They are like two hearts incessantly pumping the blood in two opposite directions. The two compartments of the heart each have two chambers, one upper and one lower. The upper chambers are the atria; the lower chambers are the ventricles. The Secret Doctrine recognizes seven secret chambers in the heart, and seven secret cavities in the brain.

There is the right ventricle and the right atrium. There is the left ventricle and the left atrium. The upper chambers on the right and left are the atria. The lower chambers on the right and left are the ventricles.

Meditating on the Lotus of the Heart, we control the Vayu Tattva, and we are given power over the winds and hurricanes. The Hindus say that the lotus flower of the heart has fifteen marvelous petals. The whole intimate secret of the functioning of the heart, all its vital ground, must be sought in the lotus flower of the fifteen petals, whose subtle stalk emanates from the temple-heart.

The vena cava deposits in the heart blood full of organic waste. The right atrium receives that whole impure stream and wisely passes it to the right ventricle below it. A few instants later the right ventricle pumps its blood, laden with lymph and waste, through its valve to make it pass into the lung by way of the pulmonary artery.

Cosmic intelligence has left nothing uncared-for. It is interesting for the sage to contemplate this whole functioning. It is marvelous to see the great pulmonary artery divide into two smaller arteries, one for each lung.

Within the lungs the pulmonary arteries branch out as well, until they become diminutive capillary vessels. Every drop of blood must inevitably pass through the capillary vessels of the lungs, where it gives up its excess of carbon dioxide and in exchange absorbs the excess of oxygen.

The rich oxygenated blood intelligently enters the small veins, and then the larger veins. The two great pulmonary veins deposit their rich, oxygen-laden blood into the left atrium of the heart. The blood has exchanged its excess of carbon dioxide for oxygen. Now life has been renewed. From the left atrium the blood passes to the left ventricle, and then, passing through the aorta under the rhythmic impulse of the heart, it pours out finally into all the arteries and blood vessels.

In all this work we can see the intimate relation that exists between Vayu, the principle of air, and the heart. The yogis of Hindustan are therefore not mistaken when they associate Vayu with the heart. This demonstrates to us the profound cosmic-physiological knowledge that the Easterners possess concerning the organ of the heart. Why do the Westerners not wish to study Eastern yoga? Why do the Westerners wish to laugh at what they do not know? It would be better to study Sivananda the Great Yogi. That would be wiser. (The work titled Kundalini Yoga by the Hindu sage Sivananda is a marvel of Eastern wisdom.)

Those who wish to learn to place their physical body in the state of Jinas (that is, those who wish to learn to place their physical body within the fourth dimension), must develop the lotus of the heart. A yogi with his physical body in the state of Jinas can fly through the air, walk upon the waters as Jesus Christ did on the Sea of Galilee, or pass through fire without being burned, as many yogis in India currently do. A yogi with his physical body in the state of Jinas can pass through rocks from side to side, as the disciples of Buddha did.

The lotus of the heart is developed through meditation and prayer. The Western physicians say that the heart produces two sounds, one low and dull, the other resonant and sharp: “Lub-Dup.” The physiologists assert that the first sound is produced immediately after the contraction of the ventricles, and that the second is due to the closing of the valves that separate the ventricles from the aorta and the pulmonary artery. The Hindu physicians go further, because they have finer senses. The yogis of India say that in the heart ten mystic sounds exist.

The first sound is like the voice of the Son of Man. The second sound is the Chinbini. The third is the sound of the great cosmic bell. The fourth is the inner thunder of the earth. The fifth is the delicious sound of the lute. The sixth is the cymbal of the gods. The seventh is the enchanted flute. The eighth is the drum. The ninth is the double drum. And the tenth sound is that of the seven thunders that in the Apocalypse repeat the voices of the Eternal One. If the two sounds heard by the Western physicians are true, why cannot the ten of the Easterners be true?

If the two sounds of the Western physicians are demonstrated, why could the ten Eastern sounds not be demonstrated? It is all a matter of procedures for demonstration. The Westerners have their scientific procedures for demonstration. The Easterners also have their scientific procedures for demonstration. The Easterner keeps himself mentally and meditates on the ten mystic sounds. The Eastern mind is absorbed in the ten mystic sounds, and then that nisus formativus, that astral body of the medieval physicians, within which are all the psychic and spiritual principles of man, comes out of the physical body, enraptured among the ten mystic sounds of the heart. That is the Samadhi of the Hindu yogis. Thus the yogi transports himself to the most distant worlds of the infinite.

The Western physician, instead of laughing at and criticizing things he has not studied or experienced, ought to study yoga.

The Hindus say that within the chakra of the heart there is a hexagonal space of the ineffable color of jet-black. There the ten mystic sounds resound. The Westerner laughs at all this. If Western physicians developed clairvoyance, they would no longer laugh, because they would see. Physicians know how to photograph the beating of the heart. The heartbeat is photographed with the apparatus called the electrocardiograph. It is astonishing to see how all four chambers totally synchronize their beats, as though they were only two.

This is only possible thanks to the bundle of His. This bundle of cellular nerves, also called the atrioventricular bundle, synchronizes in a marvelous and automatic manner the two atria in a single beat of weak contraction, and the two ventricles in a single beat of strong contraction.

If the electrocardiograph is able to photograph the heartbeats, how much more will he see who develops clairvoyance? A new world opens before the clairvoyant. An infinite world, a world full of incalculable variety.

In the heart is the inner Christ of every man who comes into the world. Our Real Being.

Meditating on the Lotus of the Heart, we control the Vayu Tattva, and we are given power over the winds and hurricanes.

Chapter Eight: THE PANCREATIC GLAND

The pancreas turns out to be partially a gland without a duct. All the digestive juices of the human organism empty into the duodenum through the famous duct of Wirsung.

The great German physician-sage, Doctor Arnold Krumm Heller, professor of medicine at the University of Berlin, said in his Zodiacal Course that the constellation of Virgo influences the belly, and especially the islets of Langerhans.

Insulin is most important because it governs the whole metabolism of carbohydrates. Insulin is secreted by those islets of the pancreas.

When the islets of the pancreas do not work correctly, diabetes comes. The principal labor of the pancreas is the transformation of sugars. When the islets do not secrete insulin correctly and the sugars pass directly into the blood, that is diabetes.

With insulin treatments medical science manages to control diabetes. However, that treatment does not cure diabetes. We have known many diabetic patients who managed to cure themselves of diabetes with the famous anti-diabetic tea. The formula of that tea is the following:

Boil the whole mixture in one liter of water.

Chapter Nine: TAKE FOR SIX CONSECUTIVE MONTHS.

The insulin treatment is not in conflict with this harmless tea.

The secretion of the islets of Langerhans passes directly into the blood. The Hindus say that above the navel is found the lotus of the ten petals. This chakra, situated in the region of the navel, controls the liver, the stomach, the pancreas, and so on. The yogis say that the color of this chakra is like that of clouds laden with bolts, sparks, and living fire.

The yogis of Hindustan who have managed to develop this chakra of the navel can remain among fire without being burned. The Hindu sages say that in this chakra of the navel the Tejas Tattva (igneous ether) sparkles.

The Western biologists say that this is impossible. The Western sages should travel to Hindustan to investigate this. Many Western skeptics who traveled to India came back astonished to see those yogis remain among fire without being burned.

The yogis of Hindustan develop this chakra of the navel with concentration and meditation. They concentrate for whole hours on the navel. When Western hypnotists travel through all those lands of Hindustan, Pakistan, Great Tartary, Mongolia, China, and Tibet, and see all those Eastern ascetics mentally concentrated on the navel, they suppose it is in order to hypnotize themselves. The reality is different. The reality is that all these mystics concentrate and meditate for hours on the chakra of the region of the navel in order to develop it.

Chapter Ten: THE LIVER

The liver is the largest gland of the organism. The liver is situated on the right side, exactly below the diaphragm. The liver is of a reddish-brown color. The liver weighs about four pounds; it is roughly nine inches long, seven inches wide, and four inches across at its thickest part.

The liver is called by physicians the organ of fives. The Kabbalists know that five is the number of Geburah, the Rigor of the Law. Some mystics say that we have Christ crucified in the liver. There is no doubt that the liver is the seat of appetites and desires. From this point of view we can certainly say that we have Christ crucified in the liver.

The liver has five admirable lobes — five groups of wise harmonic ducts, five marvelous blood vessels, and five basic functions.

This number five of the liver reminds us of the law, the Nemesis that weighs upon all those actions that are the offspring of desire and of every evil.

In the bronze liver found in the ruins of Piacenza the twelve zodiacal signs were found engraved. This invites us to think of the fives of the liver. It is said that the ancient astrologers made their predictions by consulting the liver. They looked into the liver and predicted.

The whole zodiac of the microcosm-man has its own laws and its signs inscribed upon the liver.

The lobule of the liver provides the unity of the whole structure of the liver. The lobule of the liver gives the unity of the hepatic functions. When the biologist studies that hepatic gland, he can confirm that the marvelous lobule of the liver is something like a liver in miniature. This is admirable! Whoever knows the entire lobule of the liver thoroughly knows practically the entire liver. The lobule of the liver is a mass of cells admirably bound together by a marvelous connective tissue.

Each lobule has five or six beautiful and perfect sides; each lobule has its own set of tiny and beautiful vessels, its own secreting cells, and its own ducts. A group of small hepatic lobules forms a whole lobe of the liver, and five lobes of the liver constitute the liver itself. That is the law of the fives.

The cells of the liver secrete the bile so indispensable to the digestion of fats. The liver produces glucose, so necessary for the tissues. This work of transforming sugar into glucose is an admirable work of alchemy.

There is a certain internal secretion of the liver that oversees the alchemical transmutation of glucose into glycogen, and of glycogen into sugar.

The liver controls the calories of the organism. The liver produces in its alchemical laboratory the substance called antithrombin. Antithrombin is a substance indispensable for preventing the formation of blood clots.

All these five functions of the liver are fundamental to the life of the organism. The liver is in charge of cremating in its alchemical laboratory all the old and worn-out cells, forming residues that are easily eliminated.

The hepatic artery supplies the liver with all the blood it needs. The connective tissue that envelops the liver also penetrates within the organ itself and separates it into its five perfect divisions. Each lobule of the liver is like an island surrounded by a multitude of blood vessels.

The portal vein carries venous blood to the liver. This vein, within the liver, branches into a multitude of vessels. Each lobule of the liver has its own vein. Each cell of the lobules of the liver lies within a network of tiny blood vessels.

There are also interlobular venules. Each cell of the lobule of the liver receives venous blood coming from the stomach, spleen, pancreas, and intestines through the famous portal vein, which like a river of purest life carries food to the liver. The isolated islets of liver cells receive their blood supply from the interlobular venules. Nothing is left lifeless in the liver. Everything receives life. Each cell of the liver receives food and life. Each cell of the liver is a true alchemical laboratory in charge of wisely transmuting food into substances of the highest value for all the cells of the organism. All the transformed blood leaves through the interlobular venules and passes into a vessel called the central vein.

The central veins all empty into that great, mighty river known as the vena cava. The hepatic cells that live in the liver as small, conscious, and intelligent workers must transform many substances into bile to aid digestion. The bile remains in the gallbladder until needed. Then it is emptied into the duodenal section of the small intestine.

Those sages of Hindustan see clairvoyantly a marvelous lotus flower emerging from the hepatic gland — the hepatic chakra.

Chapter Eleven: THE ADRENAL GLANDS

Adrenaline is most important in the human organism; it serves to maintain the tone of the walls of the blood vessels. The adrenal cortex is intimately related to the development of the sexual glands. There is no doubt about the marked influence of the adrenal cortex in relation to sex. The adrenal cortex influences the development of the glands and all the characteristics of sexuality. The famous physician Paracelsus, speaking of the kidneys, said the following:

“The nature and the exaltation of Venus are found in the kidneys, in the degree and predestination corresponding to the planet or to the entrails. Now, since the operation that Venus performs is directed toward the fruits of the earth that must be engendered, it turns out that the potency of the kidneys is concentrated in the human fruit (referring undoubtedly to the sexual organs), with which Venus will never come to consume the body.”

“It is natural that the kidneys perform this function, and truly no other organ could perform it better. Thus, when Venus, for example, receives from the great entity the potency of conception, the kidneys draw their force from the sentiment (sensus) and from the will of man.”

What Paracelsus affirms can be verified by psychoanalyst physicians. Freud’s psychoanalysis has produced a true innovation in the field of medicine. The Galens who have not wished to accept psychoanalysis are retrograde and antiquated.

The yogis see two chakras in the kidneys, one over each kidney. The sages of Hindustan say that on these two chakras a man’s chastity or fornication is inscribed. We recall that phrase of the Apocalypse of Saint John which says: “I am he who searches the reins and the hearts, and I will give to each one according to his works.”

The great clairvoyants see two lotus flowers, one over each kidney. They say that when the human being is fornicating, those flowers are red, the color of blood, and that when he is chaste, those flowers are white. The adrenal glands are situated on top of the kidneys. These glands look like small, broad, yellow pyramids. Each adrenal gland really has its cortex and its medulla, which differ from each other in structure and in function.

The hormone of the adrenal cortex controls the sodium and potassium of the blood and of the cells.

Psychoanalysis has demonstrated that, in moments of fear, pain, anger, and so on, the adrenal medulla secretes a greater quantity of adrenaline, which prepares all the cells of the human organism to face every kind of emergency.

The dog is an animal with a very fine sense of smell. When someone is afraid of it, it perceives the smell of the adrenaline of the adrenal glands of the frightened person, and then attempts to bite that person. The dog knows by smell who is afraid of it.

An excess of adrenaline interferes harmfully with digestion. A strong emotion can cause indigestion.

Chapter Twelve: THE SPLEEN

The spleen is a most important organ in the human organism. When the hour of sleep comes, the soul clothed in its astral body leaves the physical body and wanders through the world of the fourth dimension; meanwhile something remains within the physical body. That something is the etheric double. This double is the Lingam Sarira of the sages of Hindustan. The physician Paracelsus called this etheric double the MUMIA.

It is a double organism of etheric matter. That is the Mumia. That is the vital seat, the vital ground, absolutely unknown to Western medicine but totally known to Eastern physicians.

The Mumia of Paracelsus is a thermo-electro-magnetic condensation. This vital body has its fundamental chakra in the spleen. The lotus flower of the spleen specializes in the vital currents of the sun, attracts and absorbs them. We then see in the spleen the white blood cells transmuted into red blood cells.

The vital energy gathered by the splenic chakra passes to the solar plexus and then diffuses through all the nervous channels of the grand sympathetic system, filling the entire organism of the human being with life.

The thyroid gland collaborates in this work with its biological iodine, disinfecting all the channels of the grand sympathetic nervous system.

When the soul, clothed in its astral body, returns to the body, the body has already been repaired. If the conscious being did not leave the body, his emotions and thoughts would hinder the work of reconstruction of the human organism.

During the day, much organic waste accumulates in the channels of the grand sympathetic nervous system; that waste impedes the circulation of the vital fluid. Then sleep comes, and through the process of sleep the human organism is reconstructed.

A medium in trance can project the Mumia through the spleen. That Mumia is then used by certain disincarnate entities that place themselves within it. They then condense or materialize physically. Thus some people who live in the beyond have managed to become visible and tangible. This is not a fantasy, because photographs have been taken of those persons from beyond the grave. Photographic plates cannot lie. Facts are facts.

The eminent physician Doctor Luis Zea Uribe, professor of medicine at the National Faculty of Bogotá, was an atheist, a materialist, and an unbeliever, one hundred percent. When that sage saw, touched, and felt those phantoms materialized in a laboratory in Naples, he was radically transformed, and became a spiritualist one hundred percent.

There in Naples the materializations produced by the famous medium Eusapia Palladino were studied and examined in a scientific laboratory. Then the incredulous scientists saw, heard, photographed, experimented, and believed.

If the conscious being did not leave the body, his emotions and thoughts would hinder the work of reconstruction of the human organism.

Chapter Thirteen: THE VITAL GROUND

Scientists who doubt the existence of the ether have no scientific bases for their theories. They are truly playing with words, with terms. To say that the ether is radioactivity, or a magnetic field, and so on, neither adds to nor takes away from the reality of the ether. In any case, their doubts, analyses, and changes of terms will only serve to study what is called the ether. Most of the time we men quarrel only over a question of terms or words, etc., but in the end, facts are facts.

The Russian sages have discovered with their powerful telescopes worlds in a protoplasmic state. Those protoplasmic worlds emerged from the ether. We can accept by simple logical induction the existence of etheric worlds. Perhaps this term will not please some scientists. The term matters little. What matters are the realities.

Every world, before being protoplasmic, exists in an etheric state. The great Hindu scientist Rama Prasad says: “All comes from the ether, all returns to the ether.”

If protoplasm emerges from the ether, we must accept that the ether is at the vital ground of everything that exists.

The Eastern mystics consider that the etheric body of man has four kinds of ethers. This does not please the scientists of the West. But when the Western scientists study the ether (whatever name they may give it), they will then have to accept, by mere analysis and their own experience, the four Eastern ethers.

Thus, the etheric body of man has four ethers: the chemical ether, the ether of life, the luminous ether, the reflective ether. Each of these four ethers has its functions in intimate relation with the whole organic economy.

The chemical ether is related to all the processes of organic assimilation and elimination. The ether of life is related to the processes of the reproduction of the race. The luminous ether is related to all the processes of sensory perception. The reflective ether is intimately related to the faculties of memory, imagination, will, and so on.

The vital body controls the whole vasomotor nervous system; it is the seat of life. Each etheric atom penetrates within each physical atom and makes it vibrate. If we definitively extract the vital body from a person, that person inevitably dies. It is the height of absurdity to suppose even for a moment that a chemical-physical organism could live without the vital body. Even the materialist Russian atheists, after having deeply studied matter, are beginning to be very cautious about issuing concepts on the vital ground of living matter. The man of science, exploring the human organism, is approaching the etheric body. He will inevitably arrive there, and soon will be able to condense it with some ectoplasm to study it in the laboratory.

All the functions of our organism, all the activities of the calories, of reproduction, of combustion, of metabolism, and so on, have their basis in the vital ground.

When the vital body weakens, the illness of the physical body comes.

Chapter Fourteen: TATTVAS AND HORMONES

Study of the Inner Tattvas of Man

There is the ether in an igneous state (Tejas). There is the ether in a gaseous or fluidic state, as the principle of air (Vayu). There is the ether in an aqueous state, as the principle of water (Apas). There is the ether in a stony state, as the mineral principle (Prithvi).

These are the Tattvas of the Hindus. When these Tattvas crystallize or condense, we then have the physical elements: fire, air, water, and earth.

Our etheric body is formed of Tattvas. The Tattvas, the chakras, are intimately related. The Tattvas enter the chakras and then pass into the interior of the glands of internal secretion. Within the glands, the Tattvas intensify the work of those minute endocrine laboratories, transforming themselves into hormones.

The Tattvas enter the organism, but they do not come out again.

The Tattvas are also transformed into genes and chromosomes that later are transformed into spermatozoa.

All comes from the ether, all returns to the ether.

The ether is the condensation of a substance called Akasha. This substance is the first radiation of the root Mulaprakriti, or primordial, insipid, undifferentiated matter — known among the alchemists as the Ens Seminis (the entity of the semen).

Akasha is the igneous radiation of primordial matter. Akasha is contained in the semen. The alchemists say that water is the habitation of fire. Akasha is the Kundalini of the Hindus.

Primordial matter is represented by the waters of every religious Genesis. The protoplasm of every nebula has first been etheric. If we go further, we must accept that behind every effect there is a cause. The ether itself must have a cause. We have learned from the yogis of Hindustan that behind the ether is Akasha. The Eastern sages say that Akasha is a sea of fire. That super-astral fire is contained in the Ens Seminis (the Mulaprakriti of the sages of India).

The Ens Seminis are the seed-atoms of all known matter. Akasha is primordial sound. Akasha is super-astral fire. Sound condenses by means of Akasha. The Serpent of the Kundalini is fire, and is sound. No one could incarnate the Word without raising the sacred serpent. Without Akasha it is impossible to concretize and crystallize sound.

The Vayus Pranas are sound waves of the Akasha. Those sound waves condense in the Tattvas of the ether. The Tattvas crystallize in the four elements of nature: fire, air, water, and earth. In conclusion, the physical-chemical world turns out to be a materialization of sound. The physical-chemical world is condensed sound. We do not accept an anthropomorphic and dogmatic god, but scientifically we accept sound as the causa causarum of the Universe.

There must also be a cause for the pre-cosmic sounds. The great Eastern sages speak to us of the Solar Logos. Doctor Krumm Heller said that the Logos sounds. Certainly the Logos is a perfect multiple unity. The Logos is the army of the Word. The Logos is the Word. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” “The same was in the beginning with God.” “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.” “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:1-5).

THE LOGOS IS NOT AN INDIVIDUAL. THE LOGOS IS AN ARMY OF INEFFABLE BEINGS.

Study of the Inner Tattvas of Man There is the ether in an igneous state (Tejas).

Chapter Fifteen: THE PROSTATE

This most important gland is very small. The prostate is found in man and in all the males of mammalian species.

On careful examination we can see that this marvelous gland is located exactly at the neck of the bladder.

Official science still does not know completely all the functions of the prostate.

The prostate secretes a whitish, viscous liquid.

The sages of medicine know that, in the woman, the urethra measures only about 35 millimeters and is very dilatable.

In the man, it has been verified that it is from 20 to 27 centimeters long.

The physician-magi of Greece, Egypt, Samothrace, Troy, India, and so on, always gave great importance to the prostate. Swami Sivananda, the great yogi-physician of India, says that the lotus of the prostate has six petals.

In the ultra of nature, in the fourth dimension, many beings live in the astral body. The Asian sages say that the prostatic chakra gives us awareness of all those beings. The great sages of Hindustan concentrate daily on the prostatic chakra. They imagine that this chakra turns from left to right like a magnetic wheel. Vocalize the letter “M” with the lips closed, in such a way that it is as if we were imitating the bellowing of the bull, but without that coarseness of the voice… This is an undulating and prolonged sound. This practice awakens the prostatic chakra if it is practiced daily and for many years.

The prostatic chakra, when it enters into activity, confers on us the power of leaving the physical body in the astral body. Then we can move in that astral body independently of physical matter. In the astral body the human being can transport himself to other planets. In the astral body man can investigate for himself the great mysteries of life and death. The prostatic chakra confers on us the power of doubling the personality. Peyote is a Mexican cactus that manages to produce a doubling of the human personality. With peyote, every human being can go out consciously in the astral body.

This cactus has no thorns; it has flowers of pink or pinkish-white color, and pale rose-colored fruits. The ancient Aztec Mexicans adored peyote as a sacred plant. The epidermis of that cactus is very smooth, and has from five to twelve sides separated from each other by beautiful lines of two soft hairs full of beauty.

The technical name of peyote is Anhalonium williamsii. The peyote that serves for the doubling of the human personality is not found in the Mexican capital, nor in the whole state of Mexico. Whoever wishes to find the legitimate peyote must seek it in Chihuahua among the Tarahumara Indians, or in San Luis Potosí — that is, in northern Mexico. The plant must be chewed. The plant must be ripe and very fresh; if it is dry it no longer serves. While chewing that cactus, the disciple must be concentrated on his own Innermost — that is, on his own inner being.

A mystical attitude must be assumed in those instants. Let us remember that our inner Being is God himself. In those instants while chewing peyote we should grow drowsy, concentrated on the inner God. The exact result will be projection. We will then go out in the astral body. Thus we can see, hear, and touch the things of the ultra of nature. The things of peyote are not hallucinations as the ignorant believe. The intellectual never accepts such concepts without scientific bases.

The intellectual knows that there exists a fourth dimension. Every cultured man knows this. Science has demonstrated that the perception of our five senses is very limited. Below red lies the whole range of the infrared; above violet lies the whole range of the ultraviolet. Science is not ignorant of this. The loss of elasticity of the crystalline lens prevents the image from forming on the retina. This is what is called bad focus. Truly no one perceives the object in itself, but only the image of the object.

Presbyopia prevents us from seeing the image of a close object; myopia prevents us from seeing the image of a distant object. Color blindness also exists. Inflammation of the retina causes color blindness, the confusion of colors.

In short, the human eye perceives only sensible images. That is all. There are also suprasensible images in the ultra, and senses fitted to receive those images. With peyote those senses enter into activity, and we perceive the images of the ultra. If those images of the ultra were hallucinations as the ignorant men say, then the sensible images that form on the retina would also be hallucinations. We need to leave behind the materialism of the eighteenth century. We need to be more analytical, less dogmatic, more didactic.

Matter is condensed energy. Energy condenses in different states. There exist masses whose degree of energetic vibration is so rapid that it escapes in fact the perception of our five senses.

There exist masses whose degree of vibration is so slow that they are below the limits of our sensory perception.

Above and below the limits of external sensory perception, there exist physical masses that the human being does not normally manage to perceive. Only with the powers of our astral body can we perceive other dimensions of the universe and of life.

Peyote has the power to bring into activity, even if momentarily, those marvelous faculties that allow us to investigate the fourth dimension of nature.

Many say they do not believe. Here it is not a matter of believing or not believing; in these matters of science what is needed is logical analysis, scientific investigation free of fanaticism and prejudice, experimentation.

One must deeply explore all the recesses of the human being. We should not lock ourselves within intransigent scientific dogmatisms. We need to be more liberal in analysis. Materialism has already failed in Soviet Russia itself, as is demonstrated by the fact that there are fifteen million Muslims in the very heart of Russia.

Perceptions of the ultra are as natural as the perceptions of the five ordinary senses. These are not hallucinatory deliriums as the ignorant believe. It is not a matter of convulsive and pathological suggestions, nor of ignorant fanatics carried away by suggestion. We need more study and less pride. The perceptions of the ultra exist and ought to be studied.

The savage Indians who in the Republic of Haiti practice voodoo can be criticized for their black-magic practices and for their lack of intellectual culture, but truly we have no scientific bases of any kind on which to judge with full logical precision their hypersensitive perceptions. We do not deny that in many psychics there exist psychic paroxysms accompanied by convulsions — pithiatism in all its manifestations, and so on. The pythoness crises, the so-called crise de loa of the Haitians, the ecstatic-convulsive crisis during which suprasensible perceptions occur, are at bottom absolutely unknown to clinical science and to psychiatry itself.

If we set aside our intellectual pride, we arrive at the conclusion that we can analyze sensible phenomena, objective physical states of the human organism — but official science still does not have scientific authority to judge totally the perceptions of the ultra.

Certainly fanaticism is the worst enemy of reason and logic. The man of the university also falls into fanaticism.

When we laugh at the seers and at the ecstatic-convulsive crises, when we believe that all the visions seen during those crises are hallucinations, madness, and so on, we men of the university fall, out of sheer pride, into the state of ignorant fanatics, carried away by the theories that we read and by the intellectual principles upon which we modeled our intellect.

If we believe other ignorant people to be ignorant, those others may also call us ignorant — we who believe ourselves cultured.

We are not the masters of knowledge. Convulsive and pathological suggestion can turn the intellectual into an intolerable fanatic.

The Blacks of Haiti, during the voodoo, perceive with clairvoyance tremendous realities of the ultra of nature. To discuss a thing one must know it. The opinion of a critic has no value if there is no complete knowledge of the cause. The university man has not practiced voodoo, does not know it. Therefore he has no complete knowledge of the cause.

The university man sees the subjects in their pythoness crises, but knows nothing of what those subjects see in their trances, because the university man has not passed through those famous pythoness crises. The only thing he can do in this case is to launch baseless opinions, because he has no complete knowledge of the cause.

The prostatic chakra confers on every human being the power of going out in the astral body consciously and positively. The important thing is to develop that chakra.

We repeat: it is not here a question of believing or not believing; the important thing is to study, to analyze, to experiment.

When the intellectual man says he does not believe in that, he is demonstrating that he is superstitious. The cultured, studious, and analytical man says: I am going to study, I am going to experiment, I am going to analyze.

Chapter Sixteen: THE TESTICLES AND THE OVARIES

The internal secretions of the testicles and of the ovaries are decisive for the life of the human being on earth. The fundamental differences between men and women are due to the secretion of the testicles and of the ovaries.

For the reproduction of the human species, only one spermatozoon and one ovum are required. That is all. We do not see scientifically why the human being takes pleasure in spilling seven million spermatozoa when only one is really needed. The egg is large and round, possesses its own nucleus with a thick protoplasm that has the appearance of a yolk.

The spermatozoon is different; the spermatozoon turns out to be long and slender, has a pointed and oval body in which the fundamental nucleus is found. The spermatozoon has a long tail like a fish.

The movement of the female egg among the waters of life is slow; it waits patiently for the spermatozoon of the male to seek it out. The spermatozoon of the male, propelling itself with its fish-like tail among the waters of sexual chaos, swims far in search of the egg that awaits it.

The biologists do not know with full scientific exactness what is the causa causarum that unites the spermatozoon to the egg. This is an enigma for science. Hypotheses are launched, as in everything — more or less scientific opinions; it is believed that the protoplasm of the egg possesses a great chemical attraction for that of the sperm, and so on. All these are hypotheses, but nothing more than that: hypotheses! Even on the supposition that this hypothesis were true, it would not solve the enigma.

We could not logically admit that a chemical operation takes place by itself, without a guiding conscious principle. From the protoplasm of the egg we would pass to the energetism of the egg. Logic invites us to accept energy as a magnetic field of attraction for the egg. Logic invites us to accept electricity as the dynamic force impelling the spermatozoon to the egg. In the last analysis, the atom is an expression of energies. The electromagnetic forces of all protoplasm are a tremendous reality. Everything radiates. We accept the mechanics of phenomena, but we need a noumenal explanation of the laws that regulate that mechanics.

Truly, the cosmic consciousness turns out to be the primary intelligence that establishes the union of the spermatozoon with the ovum. We could not accept an intelligent phenomenon without an equally intelligent cause. Facts are facts, and we must yield before the facts.

The Gnostics speak of the Third Logos. Science ought to know that the Third Logos is precisely the primary intelligence. The Third Logos is not an individual. The Third Logos of the Gnostics is the primary intelligence of nature.

The creative energy of the Third Logos is the primary intelligence of nature that unites the spermatozoon to the ovum. The creative energy of the Third Logos is bipolarized into positive and negative.

The spermatozoon is the exponent of the positive forces of the Third Logos. The ovum is the exponent of the negative forces of the Third Logos. Both poles of the energy unite in order to create. Law is law.

When the spermatozoon enters the egg, it passes through the beheading of John the Baptist.

The similarity of animals in the embryonic stage, including man, is shown by the materialist Darwinists to prove that the superior and more complex beings have arisen by evolution and transformation of species from the inferior and simpler beings.

We Gnostics consider that the similarities among animals, including man, in the embryonic stage demonstrate to the fullest two things: the unity of life and an original seed. In the chaos, the seed of all that exists sleeps as the original seed within the seminal atoms of the great universal life.

The creative energy of the Third Logos makes fruitful the waters of life (the universal semen), and the germs of all existence spring forth.

Every species has a universal prototype in the original chaos. In the famous blastoderm there are three layers of absolutely different cells. The first is the inner, the second the middle, the third the outer.

The spermatozoon united with the ovum multiplies by cellular division and creates that cellular community called the blastoderm. The gelatinous state of the spermatozoon and the ovum demonstrate that at the beginning of the universe life was subtle, fluidic, gelatinous, and later coarse, hard. We are reminded of the great turtle adored by the Mayan Indians. First it is subtle, gelatinous, and then its hard shell appears, full of constellations and worlds. As above, so below. Fortunately, the Russian men of science have already discovered worlds in a protoplasmic state.

The spermatozoon and the ovum must pass through a process of evolution and development before being converted into a new vehicle of the human soul. The inner causes of the maturation of egg-sperm are very unknown to Biology.

The intimate causes of the maturation of a universe in the protoplasmic state are an enigma to astronomy and to astrophysics. It would be very interesting for the men of science to solve the enigma of the chromosomes. Why does the egg have only 48 chromosomes? Why does the spermatozoon also have 48 chromosomes? Enigmas! Enigmas! Enigmas!

For what intimate motive do the spermatozoon and the ovum lose, during maturation, exactly the same mathematical quantity of 24 chromosomes each? Who is the one who takes the trouble to make a mathematical calculation so perfect?

By what cause, when the spermatozoon and the ovum unite after maturation, do they together return to having the same original quantity of 48 chromosomes?

In this there are two mathematical operations: subtraction and addition. The basic capital is 48. Could there exist mathematical operations without a mathematical intelligence? This demonstrates by simple logical induction the reality of the primary intelligence of nature, which we Gnostics call the Third Logos.

After the ovum has been fecundated by the spermatozoon, the gestation in the womb takes place during nine months. The cell of the egg-sperm has two nuclei: that of the sperm and that of the ovum. These two nuclei wisely unite. The protoplasm of the two nuclei mixes. Within the egg-sperm cell, there is a sphere of attraction. The great sphere of attraction is also bipolarized, obeying the primary intelligence. Each of the two polarities of that sphere of attraction pulls at the nucleus and stretches it, converting it from a ball into a spindle. In the center of the nuclear spindle the chromosomes and genes are intermingled. The genes are within the chromosomes themselves. The genes give us the inheritance of the father and of the mother.

Yet not everything that the human being receives is hereditary. Terrible murderers have been born of virtuous families. Great geniuses have been born of mediocre families.

If a clairvoyant examines the spermatozoon that, now mature, is heading toward the ovum, he can see at the upper apex of the spermatozoon a most important atom — the seed-atom. That atom is a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness. From that atom comes forth a very fine thread that is bound to a certain sum of energetic values of nature. Those values are the being, the soul.

We are points in space that accept to serve as vehicles for certain sums of values of nature. Death is a subtraction of fractions. Once the subtraction is done, the “values” remain.

The values of nature are electro-magnetic. The values replace the physical body, now dead, by means of new biological processes whose steps biology carefully follows. This is the law of reincarnation. Law is law. The law is fulfilled.

Within the physical atoms of the egg-sperm there is energy. That energy is organized. That energetic organization is the Mumia. Within each atom of the Mumia are the atoms of the astral body. Within the astral body are the values of consciousness of nature. (We know the sevenfold constitution of Theosophy, but we are summarizing.)

We are not laying down dogmas. We are analyzing, and science has already been able to materialize the astral body in some laboratories. FACTS ARE FACTS, AND WE MUST YIELD BEFORE THE FACTS.

The virtues and defects of every man depend on the quality of the values that reincarnate in him. In the epoch of the Moorish dominion in Spain, there lived a Moorish holy man who studied the Quran. That holy man was in Spain during the Moorish occupation. He read the Quran and studied the Bible. The result was that this knowledge gave him indigestion, and he filled himself with skepticism.

That man died full of doubts. The values of that man reincarnated in a man named Voltaire. Any man can develop clairvoyance and see the values of consciousness evolving through time and space.

The great American physiologist Brown-Séquard, cited by Doctor Krumm Heller, invented a system of healing that was labeled by many as immoral. That system, mentioned by Krumm Heller, consists of exciting the sexual apparatus without reaching the spilling of semen. In this case the semen is cerebralized, and the brain is seminized; thus the semen is assimilated within the organism, and the nervous system is totally nourished and fortified. This system would not be an obstacle to the reproduction of the species. One spermatozoon easily escapes from the organism without the need of spilling the seven million spermatozoa that are lost in a seminal ejaculation.

The system of Brown-Séquard is known in Italy by the name of Carezza. This is the Arcanum A.Z.F.

Doctor Krumm Heller says that with this system impotence is cured.

On page 174 of the Rosicrucian Novel, Doctor Krumm Heller says the following: “The Rosicrucian studies teach us that semen is the liquid astral of man; it is life, it contains power — but a power so immense that, knowing how to manage it, one can achieve everything. That is why it is so important to know the Rosicrucian secrets, for one possesses a powerful weapon against the adversities of destiny.”

On page 172 of the Rosicrucian Novel, Doctor Heller says the following: “The Rosicrucian magus feels the same nervous excitement when operating as does another being full of desire. If men knew what they could do in this moment of nervousness, they would surely do everything except follow the woman.”

The wise Aztecs of ancient Mexico knew very well what one can do in that moment of nervousness. In the paved patios of the Aztec temples, men and women remained naked, loving each other and uniting sexually for entire months.

Those couples knew how to withdraw before the spasm to avoid the ejaculation of semen. These couples did not permit the marvelous semen to escape from their organism. This is the famous Italian Carezza, the system of the great American physiologist Brown-Séquard. With this system the awakening of the Kundalini is achieved. Certainly physicians will not be able to find the Kundalini with the scalpel, but if they practice the Gnostic Rosicrucian exercises, they will become clairvoyant. Every clairvoyant physician can see the Kundalini.

The Kundalini is the serpent Quetzalcoatl of the Aztecs, the fire of the Holy Spirit, the igneous serpent of our magical powers.

The clairvoyant yogis see a lotus flower with four marvelous petals situated exactly between the sexual organs and the anus.

That is the Church of Ephesus, the Muladhara chakra. Within that chakra is found the Kundalini. It has the form of the sacred serpent, it is a solar, spiritual fire, that can only be seen with clairvoyance; it cannot be found with the scalpel, because it is not material.

The Kundalini is concentrated Akasha. Akasha is the cause of the ether and the agent of sound. Only those who manage to raise the Akashic serpent through the canalis centralis of the spinal medulla can incarnate the Word.

The Kundalini develops, evolves, and progresses within the aura of the Solar Logos.

The chakra of the sexual organs is the seat of the Prithvi Tattva (the stony ether). Whoever manages the Prithvi Tattva can control earthquakes.

In the spinal medulla there are seven magnetic centers. Those seven centers of the spinal medulla are connected with the seven important plexuses of the grand sympathetic nervous system. In these seven centers are all the Tattvic powers. The flaming Akasha opens those seven Tattvic centers of the spinal medulla. We then become masters in the Tattvas.

The first magnetic center of the spinal medulla is the seat of the Prithvi Tattva, the power of sex. The second center corresponds to the prostatic chakra, the church of the Apas Tattva (water), the liquid ether. The third center is at the level of the navel, in relation with the solar plexus. It is the church of the Tejas Tattva (igneous ether), universal fire. The fourth center of the spinal medulla corresponds to the chakra of the heart.

That is the sacred seat of the Vayu Tattva (gaseous ether). These are the four lower Tattvic centers of the human temple. The tower of the temple is the neck and the head. In the tower there are three higher Tattvic centers. The fifth center is that of the larynx. That is the church of the Word. Without Akasha sound would not exist. The Kundalini becomes creative with the Word. The sixth magnetic center is related to the frontal chakra. That is the center of clairvoyance.

The Kundalini opens that center, and the human being becomes clairvoyant; then he can see the ultra. The seventh Tattvic center is the chakra of the thousand petals located in the pineal gland. When the Kundalini opens this chakra, we receive polyvidence, omniscience, and so on. With the system of Brown-Séquard we receive all these powers, on the condition of never ejaculating the semen in life. The system of Brown-Séquard is the Arcanum A.Z.F.

The wise North American Kabbalist Manly P. Hall, cited by Doctor Francisco A. Propato, says in his book on Occult Anatomy the following: “Those who are incapable of raising the fire of the spinal medulla through the Sushumna canal will be cast into a lateral kingdom, similar to that of present-day apes” (chimpanzees, monkeys, and so on). (The Sushumna canal runs lengthwise within the medullar canal.)

The Arcanum A.Z.F. should be practiced only between husband and wife in legitimately constituted homes. Those who practice the Arcanum A.Z.F. with other women commit the grave offense of adultery.

No adulterer will ever attain the awakening of the Kundalini and the Tattvic powers. (This applies also to women: no adulterous woman will ever attain the awakening of the Kundalini and the Tattvic powers.) The Gnostic initiate, man or woman, who commits adultery loses his or her powers.

God is the Innermost. God is the inner Being of every man who comes into the world. God is the Divine Hermaphrodite, Male-Female, and does not need a spouse to ignite his fires; but man is not God. Man cannot ignite his fires without the woman. Man does need a wife to ignite his fires, because man is not God.

Man must leave aside the pride of believing himself to be God, because man is no more than a miserable worm crawling in the mud of the earth.

The great yogini H. P. Blavatsky, after being widowed by Count Blavatsky, had to marry Colonel Olcott in order to awaken the Kundalini and attain the Tattvic powers.

In the sacred order of Tibet the disciple is taught the Arcanum A.Z.F.

In the mysteries of Egypt the Arcanum A.Z.F. was taught to all initiates, and those who divulged the great Arcanum were condemned to the death penalty: they were taken to a courtyard, and there, against a wall, their head was cut off, their heart was torn out, and their ashes were scattered to the four winds.

In the patios of the Aztecs, men and women remained naked, practicing the Arcanum A.Z.F. for entire months. Whoever had the misfortune to ejaculate the entity of the semen was condemned to the death penalty for having profaned the temple — they were then beheaded.

The initiates of the schools of mysteries of all times attained initiation with the great Arcanum. Never, in any school of mysteries, has anyone been known to have attained initiation without the Arcanum A.Z.F. (This is the great Arcanum.)

On one occasion, after delivering a lecture, a disciple who was unmarried asked us whether it was possible to practice with a woman from the astral world. We had to answer him that only with a woman of flesh and blood can the awakening of the Kundalini be attained. Another unmarried brother wanted to practice with imaginary women. That is most serious! When the mind creates a mental effigy, that effigy receives consciousness and turns into a tempting demon of the mental plane that discharges us sexually during sleep with nocturnal pollutions.

It is very difficult for a student to disintegrate those mental effigies. Usually the student becomes a victim of his own invention. The best thing is to obtain the wife who truly cooperates in the great work.

Those who have no wife must sublimate their creative energies with outdoor sports or with long walks — going on excursions, practicing swimming, listening to good music, admiring the great works of art: sculpture, painting, classical music, and so on.

Thus the unmarried will sublimate their sexual energies, lifting them up to the heart. There, in that center of life, those creative forces are mixed with the luminous waves of the inner Christ, and lead them to the ineffable regions of the great Light.

Through the aesthetic sense and through charity and love we manage to sublimate the sexual energies. Yet, in the name of truth, we must affirm that, if you want initiation and yearn for the awakening of the Kundalini and the Tattvic powers, you need to obtain a wife, because the initiate without the wife is like a garden without water.

Many mystical students believe that they are chaste because they have no woman. Yet, to crown their misfortune, they have nocturnal pollutions. In this way they miserably lose the Christic semen, in which is found the genesis of the Great Life.

In every seed — vegetable, animal, or human — the sacred fire of the Solar Logos (the Christ) is latent. That is why it has the power to reproduce itself. Man must guard the semen, the seed, like potable gold. With the Arcanum A.Z.F. we heroically extract from the seed the sacred fire of the Kundalini.

Nocturnal pollutions are radically cured with the Arcanum A.Z.F.

Only with the Arcanum A.Z.F. do nocturnal pollutions disappear forever.

We are the sons of a man and of a woman. We are no theory. The Word, the son of man, is the son of man and woman; son of immaculate conceptions. We need to raise the son of man within ourselves; we need the woman.

CRIMINOLOGY

Second Part

We Gnostics consider that the similarities among animals, including man, in the embryonic stage demonstrate to the fullest two things: the unity of life and an original seed.

Chapter Seventeen: VARIOUS KINDS OF CLAIRVOYANT PERCEPTIONS

There are five fundamental kinds of clairvoyant perceptions.

  • First: conscious clairvoyance.

  • Second: unconscious clairvoyance.

  • Third: infra-conscious clairvoyance.

  • Fourth: subconscious clairvoyance.

  • Fifth: supra-conscious clairvoyance.

These five kinds of clairvoyant perceptions produce diverse forms of mental reaction.

In forensic psychiatry there exist various biotypological forms.

Each personality reacts to clairvoyant perceptions according to its special individual personological and psychopathological diagnosis.

There is the normal paranoid type, the sick paranoid, the schizophrenic with violent, instantaneous, and terrible reactions. There are also the neurasthenoid of double sickly personality, the oligophrenic — a common murderer — the epileptoid, the schizoid of the hypersensitive or hyperesthesic variety with an epileptoid genotypic base, and so on.

In the course of a situational reaction, each clairvoyant speaks and acts conditioned by the kind of personology and psychopathology that characterizes him as a human being.

For the development of clairvoyance it is necessary to possess intellectual culture. For the development of the occult powers — chakras, discs, magnetic wheels of the astral body — intellectual discipline is required.

A clairvoyant without culture and without intellectual discipline of any sort degenerates into a vulgar delinquent. A clairvoyant without intellectual culture can fall into the following crimes: calumny and private or public injuries, defamation of honor, insults and threats, uxoricide, homicide, suicide, parricide, matricide, fratricide, incest, theft, abduction, robbery, sexual seduction, force and violence, infanticide, and many other cases of delinquency studied by psychiatry and psychology.

The pathogenic role of superstitious fear induced by infra-conscious, unconscious, or subconscious clairvoyant perceptions gives rise to murder, to public calumny and injury, and in general to every kind of common crime. The clairvoyant perceptions of the infra-conscious, or of the unconscious or subconscious, produce different situational reactions according to the biotypological class of the clairvoyant.

The neurasthenoid, schizophrenic, oligophrenic, epileptoid, and schizoid clairvoyants of the hypersensitive variety fall into states of psychopathic consternation, compulsive and pathological suggestion, delirium of superstitious persecution, and so on, which lead them to the abyss of delinquency.

Before devoting ourselves to the development of the occult powers, we need to study ourselves, and to make a personological and psychopathological diagnosis of our own personality.

After having discovered our own psycho-biotypological I, we need to reform ourselves through intellectual culture. We need a pedagogical psychotherapy to reform ourselves.

The four Gospels of Christ Jesus are really the best pedagogical psychotherapy. It is necessary to study and to practice in full all the teachings contained in the four Gospels of Christ Jesus. Only after having morally reformed ourselves may we devote ourselves to the development of the chakras, discs, or magnetic wheels of the astral body.

It is also urgent to study all the best authors of Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Psychology, Yoga, and so on.

Chapter Eighteen: POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CLAIRVOYANCE

The Rosicrucian initiate Max Heindel, in The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception, says that when the chakras of the astral body turn from left to right, clairvoyance is positive. Max Heindel asserts that when the chakras turn from right to left, clairvoyance is negative.

Trained clairvoyants are positive. The seer mediums of Spiritism (called Spiritualism in Mexico) are negative. The positive clairvoyant knows how to manage his faculty at will. The negative clairvoyant sees without wishing to see, and is always deceived by the tenebrous ones.

The crime of “Mama Coleta,” which took place on February 6, 1944, on the San Francisco farm in the Rodrigo neighborhood, near Cifuentes, in the province of Las Villas, on the island of Cuba, is a concrete example of what negative clairvoyance and Spiritist or Spiritualist mediumship are.

The hut of “Mama Coleta” was truly the stage of mediumship, of Spiritism, of negative clairvoyance, of incest, and of crime.

The medium Francisca, with her psychopathic and nervous personality, was truly a victim of the tenebrous entities that swarm in the astral plane. Then she, frightened, infected her sister Candida with her fear. The two sisters take refuge in the bed of their brother Cándido, and both fall into the crime of incest. There was a double incest.

Cándido had lived with a concubine, and on seeing the state of nervousness of his clairvoyant sister, he became suspicious of the woman with whom he had lived, supposing that the former concubine had cast some evil spell upon the house. The alarm reached its maximum when his younger brother brought him a doll which he claimed the former concubine had given him.

Then comes the second part of the drama, which culminated in the crime of “Mama Coleta.” Cándido consults a santera who performs a few ceremonies and cleansings on the clairvoyant medium, despite the opposition of Mama Coleta, and finally declares the soul of a sorcerer named Barrueta to be the cause of his misfortune.

After all this, the santera confers upon the clairvoyant medium the power to ward off evil spells. That medium, with her negative clairvoyance, truly saw the tenebrous entities. She saw against her will. She saw demons everywhere. She could not control her sixth sense.

When Mama Coleta discovered the incest, the negative seer defended herself by saying that she did not have carnal relations with her brother, but with the soul of the sorcerer Barrueta, who entered his body. In short, according to her, she was not committing the crime of incest.

The night of the events was terrible: the medium seemed mad. She threw away the food they prepared for her, thinking it was poisoned; she broke the household furniture, threw her family’s clothes outside, raved, screamed, danced, and saw the sorcerer Barrueta. The whole family knelt facing the wall with arms open in the form of a cross. Soon mass suggestion came, and all her siblings beat their father because, supposedly, the sorcerer Barrueta had entered him. Then they killed Mama Coleta, beating her horribly because the seer saw demons within the body of the poor old woman.

The last victim of the medium’s negative clairvoyance was one of her brothers. The seer saw her brother transformed into the sorcerer Barrueta, and then she struck his head with a thick stone, fracturing the bones of his skull and causing pieces of his brain matter to fall out. The last thing the seer did was to mount a horse and ride out naked, armed with a stick, shouting through the street to cast out the demons. Moments later the police detained her, and it all ended in jail.

This is a concrete case of what negative clairvoyance is. The seer had a “mental deficit, accompanied by transitory amnesia and absolutely negative clairvoyant visions of a mediumistic character.”

This class of seers is usually composed of oligophrenics who exhibit the credulity of a weak and unreflective being.

These negative seers fall into compulsive suggestion. These negative seers, under compulsive or pathological suggestion, reach the horrible abyss of delinquency.

These negative clairvoyants really see forms that exist in the infraconscious of great nature.

No true scientist could accept the visions of a negative clairvoyant as infallible. Only truly positive clairvoyance is infallible. To develop positive clairvoyance, a powerful intellectual discipline is required. Those who wish to develop positive clairvoyance need to practice the esoteric exercises and to study the best authors of Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Yoga, Psychology, and so on.

The worst enemy is ignorance. We recommend to our readers the great work of the Master Helena Petrovna Blavatsky titled The Secret Doctrine. We recommend Kundalini Yoga by Sivananda, the works of Doctor Arnold Krumm Heller, the works of Doctor Adoum, the works of Doctor Rudolf Steiner, and so on.

Only with great intellectual culture and great esoteric discipline is positive clairvoyance attained. Truly positive clairvoyance is only attained by highly cultured persons, subject to the most rigorous intellectual disciplines. Illuminated intellection is the result of positive clairvoyance.

Chapter Nineteen: CONSCIOUSNESS

Conscious clairvoyance is possessed only by those who have managed to awaken in the superior worlds.

During the hours of normal sleep, all human beings, clothed in their astral body, live in the suprasensible worlds.

Humanity lives during normal sleep and after death in the suprasensible regions of great Mother Nature. Unfortunately, people walk in the ultra with their consciousness asleep.

Positive clairvoyance is possessed only by those souls who live awake in the suprasensible worlds. Truly, those who possess continuous consciousness — whether their physical body is awake or asleep, they are always in a state of vigilance — are positive clairvoyants; they possess continuous consciousness.

All authentic endoteric and esoteric investigation departs from this state of perfect vigilance.

It is necessary that the dreamer awaken in the inner worlds before becoming a competent investigator of the superior worlds.

The mediums of Spiritism or Spiritualism are useless for investigating in the superior worlds, because they have a dislocated mental body. Mediums are truly unbalanced, and any investigation they may attempt in the superior worlds turns out to be a failure. The psychopathic states of the medium, the compulsive and pathological suggestion to which they are predisposed, the epileptoid paroxysms during trance, and psychic obsession turn mediums into fantasizing, abnormal, and mentally unbalanced individuals.

To investigate in the superior worlds, logical thought and exact concept are needed.

Every truly positive vision must be totally corroborated by concrete facts of the physical world: “Truth does not depart from human nature. If what we consider truth departs from human nature, then it cannot be truth.”

The clairvoyant, if not a saint, must at least be a perfect gentleman. We knew the case of a paranoid clairvoyant who slandered a virtuous mother of a family, publicly accusing her and pointing her out as an adulteress, a sorceress, and so on. That poor, innocent, and virtuous mother was viciously attacked in public by the paranoid clairvoyant. We also knew the case of a neurasthenoid clairvoyant who slandered and threatened with death an honorable and virtuous citizen, pointing him out as a sorcerer and attributing diabolical powers to him.

We knew a schizophrenic clairvoyant who reacted instantly against an honorable citizen, accusing him of taking his wife away, supposedly because he had seen it clairvoyantly. If that clairvoyant had been a neurasthenoid he might have murdered the gentleman. If he had been a paranoid he would have studied and planned a well-executed murder. If he had been an oligophrenic he would have killed by stabbing or shooting the honorable gentleman, who had never in his life thought of taking the clairvoyant’s wife.

If the clairvoyant had brought his complaint before the courts, the judges would have declared him free of faults, free of merits. To sentence someone, the corpus delicti and the responsibility of the accused must be proven.

Most clairvoyants could be prosecuted for calumny and defamation of honor, insults, and threats.

Another aspect to keep in mind is the justification of the corpus delicti. If the corpus delicti is not justified in any of the forms established by the codes of penal procedure, the accused is innocent. “Do not do to another what you would not have done to you.” “Truth does not depart from human nature. If what we consider truth departs from human nature, then it is not truth.”

The Christ said: “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again” (Matthew 7).

The clairvoyant must be rigorously analytical, highly intellectual, and strictly scientific.

The worst enemy of the clairvoyant is ignorance.

The clairvoyant must learn to see in the absence of the I, of the myself. To see without judging.

Conscious clairvoyance is possessed only by those who have managed to awaken in the superior worlds.

Chapter Twenty: THE PSYCHO-BIO-TYPOLOGICAL I

The mind is bottled up in the I. Every situational reaction of the mind is the result of the psycho-bio-typological I.

Every perception passes from the senses to the mind.

The I translates all the information gathered by the mind into its own idiom of prejudices, desires, fears, memories, preconceptions, malice of a certain kind, fanaticism, hatred, envy, jealousy, passions, and so on.

The clairvoyant always has a bad secretary from whom he needs to free himself. That secretary is the I, the myself, the ego.

The I of the clairvoyant seizes upon all the suprasensible representations that reach the mind, and interprets them in accordance with its prejudices, hatreds, jealousies, mistrust, malice of a certain kind, passions, memories, pride, arrogance, envy, and so on. The subsequent reactions of the clairvoyant turn out to be the result of his own psycho-bio-typological I.

The paranoid clairvoyant is proud, likes to keep himself isolated from the people, deals only with a few, is very intelligent, cunning, mistrustful; he feels infallible, believes himself to be a great Master, thinks he can dominate the world, accepts no reasoning from anyone, only he is wise, great, and powerful. This class of clairvoyants, when they react with hatred, malice, mistrust, and so on, may go so far as to coldly plan an intellectual murder.

The neurasthenoid clairvoyant is of double personality: as soon as he is praying and preaching ineffable things, he is also insulting, or speaking of pistols, daggers, war, clairvoyance, and so on. This class of clairvoyants, faced with an unpleasant representation, reacts by slandering, insulting, killing, and so on. When one of his personalities feels frustrated or humiliated, he begs forgiveness and speaks with devotion in order to balance himself. Once his purpose is achieved, then the other personality reacts with pride, anger, arrogance, violence, betrayal, and so on.

A thorough analysis leads us to the conclusion that Judas Iscariot was a neurasthenoid. Judas was of double personality: now he follows the Master, now he is against the Master; he kisses the Master and then delivers him up; he repents, and finally commits suicide. That is the neurasthenoid type.

In the Christ the I, the myself, does not exist. Christ does not react to slanders, slaps, mockery, threats, whips, and so on. Christ astonishes by his terrible serenity. Christ crucified only says: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” In Christ the I does not exist, and therefore he does not react, nor does he judge anyone. Christ is a perfect clairvoyant who knows how to see with understanding, without judging, without translating, because he has no I. Christ is the clairvoyant who sees, understands, and knows. Christ is the universal spirit of life incarnated in Jesus of Nazareth.

The clairvoyant needs to learn to contemplate the inner representations in the absence of the I. To see without judging, without translating, without preconceptions, without fanaticism, without passion, and so on. The clairvoyant must be highly comprehensive.

A schizophrenic clairvoyant, with his violent, instantaneous, and terrible reactions, can fall into the worst crimes when reacting against an unpleasant representation.

A hypersensitive schizoid clairvoyant is usually sad, melancholic, self-concentrated, introspective; he possesses melancholic ideas, becomes tired with every intellectual work, and so on. The schizoid clairvoyant, if not rigorously analytical, may react before an unpleasant representation by killing another and then killing himself.

A masochistic clairvoyant takes pleasure in scourging himself in the presence of mystical representations, or in performing terrible penances even to the point of dying.

Clairvoyance demands logical thought and exact concept. To be a trained clairvoyant, perfect mental balance is required. A clairvoyant with some psychic trauma may suffer serious mental disorders and unconsciously create fatal images in the mental world. When the mentally disordered clairvoyant contemplates his own suprasensible creations, he may receive an emotional nervous shock, or a dizzying impetus, a raptus of unexpected and acute emotion that leads him precisely into the abyss of crime. The psychic trauma is the result of a great moral sorrow, or of a tremendous fright, the loss of a loved one, and so on.

The sadistic-masochistic clairvoyant has reached such a state of sexual perversion that he easily becomes a mystical-erotic murderer. The sadistic-masochistic clairvoyant loves sweet wickednesses and falls into the bloodiest phallic cults. The Black Masses of the Middle Ages, with naked women upon the altar and the murder of innocent children, are vivid examples of this kind of tenebrous and fatal clairvoyance.

The human sacrifices of every age and of every religion are the result of sadistic-masochistic clairvoyance. The barbarous custom of murdering persons on the altar for liturgical ritual is a vivid example of what sadistic-masochistic clairvoyance is.

In the fifteenth century, the Black Mass was celebrated with human sacrifices in many medieval castles. The Marshal Gilles de Rais, in Tiffanges, France, had in his castle a church whose priest celebrated the Black Mass. Rais was accused of having murdered two hundred children in his Black Masses. Catherine de Medici also had Black Masses celebrated with the sacrifice of innocent children.

The witches’ Sabbath with its Black Masses and its sorcery rivaled the priests of the Holy Office of the Catholic Inquisition in the murder of innocent children. That is sadistic-masochistic, criminal, and terribly perverse clairvoyance.

Only by beheading and dissolving such a psycho-bio-typological I as we carry within can we be perfect clairvoyants.

Chapter 21: THE HUMAN MIND

The brain has five fundamental parts: First, the encephalon. Second, the cerebellum. Third, the midbrain. Fourth, the medulla oblongata, or oblong middle brain. Fifth, the pons Varolii, or bridge.

Those who say that the encephalon governs intelligence, memory, will, and so on, are truly ignorant of the existence of the mental body. Such persons ought to study the six volumes of The Secret Doctrine written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky.

The brain is made to elaborate thought, but it is not the thought. The brain is an instrument of the mind, but it is not the mind. We must distinguish between brain and mind. We must study the intimate relations of the brain with the mind.

In previous chapters we spoke of the astral body. We then said that within the astral are the mind and the psychic and spiritual principles of man. The mind is a marvelous subtle body that has its own ultra-physiology and ultra-pathology, in intimate relation with the cerebrospinal nervous system and the brain.

Thought is a function of the mental body. Man can think without a physical brain, independently of the cerebral matter. This is already demonstrated in the scientific laboratories where it was possible to materialize disincarnate entities.

We are speaking of concrete, already demonstrated facts. If the reader has read nothing about the materializations of Katie King, with the help of the materialization mediums the Fox sisters, in the laboratory of William Crookes, that is no longer our fault. The concrete fact is that the astral of the deceased Katie King materialized for three consecutive years in a scientific laboratory. The scientists then saw, heard, palpated, and so on. That entity allowed itself to be subjected to every kind of experiment. There was no fraud there, because the scientists totally controlled even the slightest possibility of fraud.

After three years of experiments, Katie King slowly dematerialized in the presence of the photographic cameras, and left the men of science a materialized lock of hair as the last proof of the reality of her materialization. We are speaking, then, on the basis of demonstrated facts.

The encephalon is governed by the mind, but the mind is not governed by the encephalon. The encephalon is the instrument of the emotions and of the consciousness, but it does not produce emotions or consciousness. What is logical cannot be refuted by ignorance. Logic is logic. Those who affirm that the brain produces thought, emotion, and consciousness are ignorant because they have not studied the mental body. On the basis of ignorance one cannot refute. The ignorant need to study.

The twelve pairs of cranial nerves demonstrate to us the hermetic principle that says: “As above, so below.” If above there is a Zodiac with twelve constellations, here below there is the Man-Zodiac, with its twelve pairs of cranial nerves. Each pair of nerves controls some region of the body. The twelve pairs of nerves control all the twelve pairs of the Man-Zodiac.

These nerves are:

  • The olfactory.

  • The optic.

  • The oculomotor.

  • The pathetic or trochlear.

  • The trigeminal.

  • The abducens.

  • The facial.

  • The auditory or acoustic.

  • The glossopharyngeal.

  • The pneumogastric, or vagus.

  • The spinal.

  • The hypoglossal.

These twelve pairs of nerves inform the mind of everything that occurs in the human Zodiac. The office that gathers those reports is the brain, and the mind is the clerk.

The information coming from the outside world is gathered by the organs of the senses of external perception. Those reports go to the cerebral office, where the clerk analyzes and studies them. Unfortunately, the clerk always has a bad secretary who betrays him. That bad secretary is the I, the myself, the ego. Let us go, for example, to a theater where an erotic film is being shown. All those perceptions are gathered by the clerk in his cerebral office. The clerk studies the film, contemplates it, and delights in it. The secretary, on the sly and in great secret, steals the erotic images and reproduces them on his own account on the mental plane of great nature. Those images then become living effigies of the mental world.

Later, during normal sleep, the mind bottled up in the I ends up fornicating with those mental effigies, and the nocturnal pollutions come.

The dreamer fornicates with the mental images he himself has created. The dreamer sees those images clairvoyantly. That is unconscious clairvoyance.

Someone is jealous and supposes that a friend is taking his wife away from him. The I elaborates in secret the scenes created by its author, and the nocturnal dreams come — horrible dramas, the wife committing adultery with the friend, terrible things.

That is unconscious clairvoyance. If the clairvoyant is an oligophrenic, he will vilely murder his friend. If he is a neurasthenoid, he may also insult him, slander him, and finally murder him. If he is a paranoid, he will intellectually plan a technical and perfect murder. If he is a schizophrenic, he will violently break off the friendship. If he is a sadistic-masochist, he may murder his wife in the most horrifying manner. If he is a highly cultured schizoid with an epileptoid genotypic base, he may receive a most intense emotional shock that will lead him to commit the crime of homicide, falling afterward into a state of global psychic collapse.

Most clairvoyants fall into the abyss of delinquency for lack of culture and intellectual discipline. Suppose a clairvoyant is suspicious of a friend, supposing him to be a black magician. The clairvoyant’s I elaborates in the unconscious the most terrible forms, which then appear in dreams. This is unconscious clairvoyance. He may then suffer a tremendous situational reaction that leads him to crime, calumny and public injury, defamation of honor, murder, and so on.

All clairvoyant perceptions pass to the cerebellum. Then, crossing the pons Varolii, they reach the brain. The unconscious perceptions become conscious when they reach the brain.

The pons Varolii unites the midbrain with the medulla and with the two famous cerebral hemispheres.

In ancient times, the medulla oblongata constituted the entire brain, which could perfectly control all the cells of the human organism.

The medulla has seven centers that control sneezing, coughing, suction and mastication, swallowing, vomiting, the functioning of the salivary and gastric glands, and the closing of the eyelids.

The midbrain is also very interesting; part of it unites the two cerebral hemispheres with the cerebellum and with the pons Varolii, through which the clairvoyant perceptions pass. In the functional areas of the brain are all the centers that control the human organism. Many times a clairvoyant perception is engraved in some little cerebral cell in fixed form. This is similar to an image engraved on a photographic plate. The mind then perceives that image of unconscious clairvoyance at all hours. The physicians have solved that problem by removing the little cell where the image is engraved.

A concrete case of unconscious clairvoyance and homicide was the assassination of the great Colombian politician Jorge Eliécer Gaitán. The investigations of the authorities have demonstrated that the assassin was an active member of the AMORC school of San José, California. It is further said that he was supposedly expelled from that school for being considered mentally unbalanced. This subject was an unconscious clairvoyant. He lit a pair of candles before the altar according to the Rosicrucian AMORC ritual, and then in the mirror saw two images: that of Simón Bolívar and that of Francisco de Paula Santander. He believed himself to be the reincarnation of Bolívar, and thought that Jorge Eliécer Gaitán was supposedly the reincarnation of Santander, the enemy of Bolívar.

The assassin said to himself: if Santander wanted to kill me in my past reincarnation, I will now take vengeance on him and kill him. On April 9th, the day of the events, he murdered Jorge Eliécer Gaitán by treachery, when the politician was coming out of the palace of the Government of Bogotá. The ballistics experts consider that the assassin must have trained extensively in target shooting before the homicide. The three shots in the back were unerring, exact, precise.

What followed afterward was dreadful. The Bogotazo astonished the entire world. The inflamed multitudes hurled themselves into battle against the Government, and had it not been for the cunning of a particularly foxy liberal politician, the people would have stormed the Presidential Palace.

This is a concrete example of homicide and unconscious clairvoyance.

There is no doubt that the vision in the mirror was the secret mainspring of the crime. The rest was done by the political enemies of Gaitán. They possibly financed the crime, bought the assassin, and so on. But the secret mainspring was unconscious clairvoyance. The unbalanced mind of the assassin created the images that were projected onto the mirror. That is all.

Unconscious clairvoyance is the secret cause of one hundred percent of homicides.

Forensic psychiatry needs to be expanded a little further.

The perceptions of unconscious clairvoyance are often deposited in the unconscious backgrounds of the human mind, becoming a secret temptation that leads to crime. In the depths of every human being there are unconscious factors that often lead him to homicide. The secret mainsprings of every crime are unconscious. Many saints had an unconscious full of carnal passion, sadism, theft, crime, violence, jealousy, hatred, resentments, and so on.

During sleep those saints suffered horribly. During sleep those saints fell into the most dreadful crimes. In the unconscious those saints were great evildoers. When they awoke, they understood their dreadful moral misery and gave themselves over to terrible penances, wearing sackcloth and hair shirts.

Those who manage to make conscious-consciousness of a moral defect totally disintegrate it.

When a man disintegrates all his defects, the I is dissolved.

When the I is dissolved, truth comes to us. Then we are perfect clairvoyants.

Truth is born of creative understanding. Truth is timeless, eternal, divine. The I cannot know the truth, because the I is a bundle of memories. The I is of time. The I is born in time and dies in time. Death is a subtraction of fractions. After the mathematical operation is completed, only the values remain, which later are reincarnated. Those values are the I, the myself, the reincarnating ego.

The I is an illusion, and every crime, every offense, every vice, is the fatal result of the affirmation of the I, of the myself. The origin of pain is the I. When we annihilate desire, the I is dissolved; where the I is, truth cannot be, because truth and the I are incompatible.

The I is a transitory error of the wheel of Samsara. (The wheel of reincarnations and of karma.) The I is the heresy of separativeness.

The I is the origin of selfishness, hatred, fornication, adultery, envy, anger, and so on. The I is the thirst for pleasures and the source of pride and vanity. To incarnate truth, the I must be dissolved. To attain inner peace, it is necessary to dissolve the I, the myself. To attain perfect clairvoyance and supreme illumination, the I must be dissolved.

Truth is the inner Christ of every man.

The I is the Satan we carry within.

Where the I is, truth cannot be.

Those who divide themselves into two I’s, a higher one and a lower one, walk the path of error. Those who affirm the existence of a divine I are deifying Satan.

The individual Spirit does not exist. Only the Universal Spirit of life exists.

The immortal spark of every man is the Being, the eternal Universal Spirit, full of supreme happiness.

We then said that within the astral are the mind and the psychic and spiritual principles of man.

Chapter 22: THE INFRACONSCIOUS

Infraconscious clairvoyance is commonly known by the label of nightmares. There is sleep-drunkenness and the hypnic twilight state.

Sleep-drunkenness always has greater duration. The hypnic twilight state is briefer. In sleep-drunkenness the cerebral cortex intervenes notably, not as cause but as vehicle of the so-called oneiric consciousness, whose reflex acts are different variants of somnambulism.

In the hypnic twilight state there is intensive action of the mesocephalon, not as cause but as effect of certain short-circuits of the psychic-infraconscious currents. This gives rise to psychic effects and automatic acts that are often criminal.

In sleep-drunkenness there is subsequent lagunar amnesia, with various degrees and shades.

In the hypnic twilight state there is no sensation of amnesia, owing to the definitively automatic action. The common factor in both phenomena of psychic origin is the inhibition of normal consciousness by the natural process of sleep.

We now mention a case of infraconscious clairvoyance cited by Swartzer: “A woman in Pesth dreamed that she was being pursued by a dog and was trying to drive it away with stones. Awakened by that nightmare, she took her little daughter, who was sleeping beside her, and hurled her like a stone against the wall to frighten the furious dog.”

Let us look at another case of infraconscious clairvoyance cited by Kraft-Ebing: A guard hears in the middle of the night a cry coming from a house: “Save my children!” He enters and finds a mother in her nightclothes in a state of extreme excitement and disturbance. The whole room was in the greatest disorder. Two children were huddled in a corner. The woman cried out incessantly: “Where is my little son? Have you taken him? I must have thrown him out the window”…

The unfortunate woman had thrown her son into the street through the windowpanes, without opening the window. She had dreamed that her children were crying to her that the house was on fire, and in the mental confusion of awakening, she had thrown her son out the window to protect him from the fire. (Bucknill and Tuke, Lerb, 1862, p. 213.)

On page 203 of the book by Doctors Díaz Padrón and E. C. Henríquez, we have found another case of infraconscious clairvoyance: “A man who was alone in his apartment was dreaming of bandits assaulting his house. Very loud blows were heard on the door opening onto the staircase. The tenant got up with a revolver in his hand, opened the door, and fired without looking or aiming. The shot killed (or wounded) a boy who was bringing an urgent telegram. It was the small hours of the night. The homicide realized, on seeing the delivery boy fall, that he had wounded an innocent person. At that moment he awoke fully.”

Those nightmares and bad dreams are phenomena of infraconscious clairvoyance that can give rise to false appreciations whose result turns out to be crime.

When the clairvoyant is a neurasthenoid occultist or esoterist, then he can become a murderer with premeditation and treachery.

An occult student of a neurasthenic type would dream of a citizen, and saw with his infraconscious clairvoyance that the citizen was tormenting him with witchcraft and black magic. A few days later the neurasthenoid insulted and threatened with death the perplexed and astonished citizen. This type of infraconscious vision with premeditation, calumny, and treachery is very common in some occult students, spiritists, and so on.

The false mental appreciation of the infraconscious clairvoyant, esoterist, or spiritist is due to fanaticism and to ignorance.

The mental disturbances of the ignorant fanatics are due to superstitious fear, to suggestion, and also to the low aggressive instincts of the psycho-bio-typological I.

In man there is the infraconsciousness.

In nature there is the infraconsciousness. In the infraconsciousness of nature are deposited the tenebrous memories of the whole history of the earth and of its races. In the infraconsciousness of nature live the antediluvian monsters. Those are the specters of the past, the phantoms of nightmares.

Infraconscious clairvoyance perceives only the cavernous memories of the past, and the tenebrous creations of the low infraconscious depths of man and of beasts.

In the infraconsciousness of nature only fatality exists.

Every man has a double, an opposite, that lives in the infraconsciousness of nature. Facing the Buddha is his brother and enemy Devahdet, the King of hell. Facing Anael the Angel of Love, is Lilith, the counter-love.

An infraconscious clairvoyant can see the double of someone, and then deduce erroneous appreciations whose final result is calumny, homicide, and so on.

The infraconscious is a tenebrous remnant of a remote past. The masochist sage is the sexual pervert who can murder a woman out of pure sexual pleasure. Sexual perversion is infraconscious. The infraconscious values of the psychological I constitute the lowest animal depths of the human being.

Sexual perversion of the sadistic-masochistic, tyrannical, obsessive-impulsive type is the concrete manifestation of the infraconscious values.

This kind of values rises to the mind, and the human being falls into the crimes of homosexuality, stupor, force and violence, corruption of minors, and so on.

Sometimes the sexual pervert turns mystic, foolish, sanctimonious, and so on.

We knew the case of a mystic sexual pervert who gave coins to little girls of six and seven years of age, supposedly for their sweets. Thus he cultivated them while they grew a little. Later he seduced them sexually, and finally married them off to other men to avoid conflicts and problems. Yet this satyr was a mystic spiritist. He always smiled with great sweetness, and was a hierarch of a Spiritualist society.

The sexual perversion of the infraconscious sometimes places the satyrs in the realm of compulsive psychoneurosis, which leads them to the most horrible crimes recorded in the chronicles of the police.

Infraconscious sexual perversion has two clearly defined poles: brain and sex. The thieves are positive. The prostitutes are negative. These are the two poles of the human infraconscious. Notice the intimate psychic affinity that exists between prostitutes and thieves.

These two poles of the human infraconscious live in eternal struggle within each individual. In the preceding example of the spiritualist satyr cited in this chapter, we see clearly the struggle of the infraconscious.

The brain of the satyr cultivates the little girls with coins for their sweets; he waits for them to grow a little. The sex possesses and consummates the crime of seduction. The brain of the satyr projects, plans, and then marries them off to elude the conflict. There is the struggle between brain and sex.

Often the infraconscious betrays a virtuous wife and leads her to adultery. In the brothels live prostitutes who were formerly magnificent wives. When the sexual perversion of a harlot is polarized in the brain exhausted by pleasure, then they commit terrible crimes that lead them to jail.

In prison those unfortunate women feel themselves victims of human injustice; they consider themselves innocent. Truly those poor women are victims of an energy they are ignorant of. No one has cured those unfortunate women; no psychiatrist has taught them the use and management of sexual energy. They are ignorant of the great mysteries of sex. They are victims of a society that scorns them and humiliates them miserably after having perverted them.

Society corrupts the unfortunate daughters of sorrow, only to lock them up afterwards in horrible panopticons, and in jails where they only become more perverted still.

The infraconscious cannot be locked up in jail.

The delinquent is not reformed in jail. The prison system has turned out to be a complete failure. In jail the delinquents multiply their hatred and rancor against society.

The sexual problem of the prisons, homosexuality, and every kind of disgusting unnatural vice, demonstrates beyond doubt that the infraconscious cannot be locked up in jail.

The greatest sin is ignorance.

Only with a wise pedagogical psychotherapy can the reform of delinquents be attained. Pedagogical corrective treatment will turn the jails into true reformatory schools. There should not exist jails. There should exist only reformatory schools, agricultural farms, industrial workshops, and so on, where the delinquents can be cured with pedagogical psychotherapy.

The convicts must be treated with infinite love and mercy.

Chapter 23: THE SUBCONSCIOUS

In analyzing the psycho-genesis of the criminal act for which a given individual has been tried, the subconscious factors must be taken into account.

This class of factors is reduced to three: genotype, phenotype, paratype (heredity, education, and circumstances). From the perfect balance among these three factors the social conduct of the individual derives.

When there is imbalance in these three factors, the result is crime. These three factors can be positive or negative. They are positive when they are translated into right thinking, right feeling, right acting.

They are negative when they are translated into criminal thought, criminal feeling, criminal deeds.

Let us study the three factors separately:

Heredity

Heredity is the vehicle of Karma, Nemesis, or Law of Destiny. Here it is not a question of believing or not believing; what we need is to analyze and deeply explore the various backgrounds of the mind.

That “I believe” and “I do not believe” is proper to ignorant people. We are mathematicians in scientific investigation, and demanding in analysis and in expression.

Death is a subtraction. Once the arithmetic operation is finished, only the values that continue remain.

Those values constitute the psychological I, the myself, the ego that reincarnates to satisfy its frustrated desires, and to continue with another personality.

The I is a bundle of memories, passions, desires, hatreds, violences, lust, greed, and so on. The I is the values. Those energetic values are anterior to the primitive seminal cell. If we examine all the intra-atomic and inter-atomic states of the primitive seminal cell, we find only electricity and magnetism. We are not laying down dogmas. Let us make the test, let us take the seminal cell to an atomic physics laboratory. If we split the atom of the primitive seminal cell we liberate energy, because according to atomic physics every atom is an expression of energies.

If a scientific clairvoyant would then analyze those energies liberated from the atom of the primitive cell, he would find the reincarnating ego. (The values.)

Existence begins in the cell elaborated in the testicles and prostate of the man, then beheaded on entering the maternal ovum.

The factors of heredity are in the very genes. The word “gene” comes from the same Greek root from which the words “genesis,” “generate,” “gender,” etc., are born.

These genes lie within that species in the form of little rods called chromosomes. In the genes lies the paternal and maternal heredity.

Heredity is the vehicle of life’s cruel Nemesis.

Heredity is the result of Karma (Law of action and consequence, Nemesis).

“With the measure with which ye measure, ye shall be measured.” “Such action, such consequence.” That is the Law.

In heredity we carry the result of our evil actions. Speaking axiomatically, we say: evil actions are the causa causarum of heredity.

This axiom is only understood when we understand the Law of Reincarnation and of Nemesis (Karma).

The values of a man who was an artist may reincarnate in a family of artists who will provide him with the heredity he needs.

A sum of mystical values will reincarnate among pious people.

The values of a libertine may reincarnate among a libertine family, and those of a murderer among murderers and thieves. Often there have been cases of saints among bandits, and vice versa. That is the Law of destiny settling accounts.

In the subconscious we carry all that heredity. The factors of heredity often betray us.

Education

Let us now analyze education. This second factor of the subconscious is of supreme importance.

Education begins in the home. The child learns more by example than by precept.

The child witnesses in modern homes the adultery of his parents.

The child is an eyewitness of the anger, the greed, and the lust of those who gave him life.

In the home the child sees with astonishment the revolver or shotgun of his father, and the magazine or stories of murderers and thieves.

The child goes to the cinema, where shootings, detectives, bandits, highwaymen, and bank robbers are enjoyed. When Christmas Eve or the feast of the Three Kings arrives, the child receives as gifts cannons, revolvers, and toy pistols so that he may play bandits or highwayman.

All this goes on being stored in the subconscious of the child.

His own parents little by little poison him with the fatal venom of delinquency.

Time passes; the child grows, and the ideas of crime deposited in the subconscious develop, evolve, and progress, even though the conscious vital part is ignorant of all that goes on in the deep regions of the subconscious. One day the fruit is ripe, and the harvest is the crime. All that is sown in the subconscious rises to the mind through time. The situational reaction of a homicide who never wanted to kill is the fatal result of all that he learned when he was a child.

The new gangster, the highwayman, the new thief who before was an honorable citizen, are the result of a false education.

Pornographic novels and erotic films engender prostitution, seduction, abduction by force and violence, and so on.

The film actors and the pornographic writers are poisoning the subconscious of children and adults.

The hour has come to struggle against the moral corruption of the prostitutes of intelligence.

At school the child learns bloody histories that are engraved in the subconscious — cunning, malice, mistrust, and so on. All that is engraved in the subconscious. And the fatal result is crime.

Circumstances

Let us now study the circumstances: certain critical circumstances irritate the subconscious, provoking criminal reactions.

Objective circumstances combine in the subconscious with similar circumstances to provoke crime.

Objective and subjective images combine to produce crime. For example: a man without work, full of hunger and misery, recalls having seen in his childhood his father in the same crisis. He remembers when the father assaulted a person in the street to rob him. He remembers the good meal that was served in his house after the assault, and so on. Then the critical circumstance in which the jobless man finds himself, and the subjective circumstance of the memory, combine to provoke the crime.

The three factors — genotype, phenotype, and paratype — are the psycho-genesis of every criminal act.

Only with an integral culture can crime be extirpated from its deepest roots.

Only with integral culture can we live self-enhancingly.

Only with a dignifying example can we put an end to social delinquency.

The subconscious clairvoyant perceives only the history of the human race through the centuries. In the subconscious live the memories of all our past reincarnations. Often a subconscious clairvoyant, seeing a memory, has fallen into crime. For example, the case may arise of a clairvoyant who sees his virtuous and faithful wife committing adultery. The clairvoyant is sure of his vision; he knows that the word “hallucination” has been invented by the ignorant to disguise their own ignorance. He knows that the vision exists.

If the clairvoyant is an uncultured man without intellectual discipline of any kind, he will react in accordance with his psycho-bio-typological I.

A neurasthenoid will villainously murder her after slandering and vilely insulting her. A paranoid will intellectually plan a most intelligent crime. An epileptoid will react instantly with an explosive outburst of brutal rage which, after breaking the phenotypic superstructure of personal control created by social habits and education, will lead him to the murder of his virtuous and faithful wife. An oligophrenic might commit a disgusting and horrifying crime; in that way he would murder his faithful wife. A schizophrenic would immediately abandon her. A sadist-masochist would murder her during the very sexual act, or afterwards. These are the dangers of subconscious clairvoyance. The clairvoyant does not doubt his vision. He knows that it is not a hallucination.

If the subconscious clairvoyant does not study psychiatry, Theosophy, psychology, Rosicrucianism, and so on, he may fall into the most horrendous crimes. That faithful wife of our example may have been an adulteress in a past reincarnation, and then the clairvoyant without discipline or intellectual culture is ignorant of what the past and the subconscious are. The result of his ignorance and lack of culture is crime, public calumny, and so on.

In many spiritualist schools the subconscious clairvoyants flay their neighbor alive, slander the innocent, accuse them of witchcraft, sorcery, black magic, adultery, theft, fraud, and so on. No one escapes them; they slander everyone. It is curious to see those proud ignoramuses presuming themselves to be sages, prophesying infamies, tormenting their neighbor, accusing good citizens because in the old past of their ancient lives they saw them committing errors that today they would be incapable of committing. The Penal Code is also for slanderous seers.

Constantly we hear those clairvoyants saying phrases like these: “So-and-so is a black magician and is working on me.” “Such a lady is committing adultery with such a gentleman,” even though the slandered wife may be a saint. Those ignorant seers respect nothing. Yet we cannot blame clairvoyance. Truly the sixth sense is as natural and normal as the eyes, the ears, the sense of smell, the mouth, the touch.

The fault for these errors is not clairvoyance. The cause of all those errors is the lack of intellectual culture and of respect for one’s neighbor.

In the subconscious live the memories of all the errors we committed in the ancient reincarnations. The clairvoyant without culture sees all those errors of the past and then becomes confused and slanders just and honorable persons.

The cultured clairvoyant, the intellectual clairvoyant who has studied psychiatry, psychology, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, and so on, does not fall into such errors because he has intellectual discipline. The cultured, educated, respectful, and intellectually disciplined clairvoyant enjoys illuminated intellection, and knows how to read in the subconscious of nature with full consciousness.

He is then capable of studying retrospectively the whole history of the earth and of its races. He is an illuminated clairvoyant.

The cultured, educated, respectful, and intellectually disciplined clairvoyant enjoys illuminated intellection, and knows how to read in the subconscious of nature with full consciousness.

Chapter 24: THE SUPRACONSCIOUSNESS

The most elevated kind of clairvoyance that exists in the Universe is supraconsciousness. All the Avatars or Messengers of the superior worlds have been supraconscious clairvoyants. Hermes Trismegistus, Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Jesus Christ, and so on, were supraconscious beings, messengers of the superior worlds, initiators of new eras of historical evolution.

Imagination, inspiration, intuition are the three obligatory paths of initiation. Let us examine each of these three steps separately.

Let us begin with:

Imagination

For the sage, to imagine is to see. Imagination is the translucent of the soul.

The important thing is to learn to concentrate thought on one single thing.

He who learns to think one single thing works marvels and prodigies.

The disciple who wishes to attain imaginative knowledge must learn to concentrate and know how to meditate profoundly.

Exercise

The best exercise to attain imaginative knowledge is the following:

Seated before a plant, we concentrate on it until we forget everything that is not it. Then, closing our eyes, we shall fall into drowsiness, retaining in our imagination the form and figure of the plant, its structure, its perfume, and its color.

The disciple should induce sleep during these practices. The disciple, dozing, will meditate profoundly on the inner constitution of the vegetable.

The disciple will imagine the living cells of the plant. The vegetable cell possesses protoplasm, membrane, and nucleus. The protoplasm is a viscous, elastic, and transparent substance very similar to egg white (albuminoid matter). The disciple, dozing, must reflect on the four fundamental elements of the protoplasm of the vegetable cell. These four elements are: carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen.

The membrane is a marvelous colorless substance that in water is totally insoluble. That substance is the famous cellulose.

The well-concentrated disciple will imagine the nucleus of the cell as a small corpuscle in which the great universal life pulsates. Within the nucleus are the nuclear filament, the nuclear sap, and the nucleoli, all wrapped by the nuclear membrane. The nucleoli are infinitesimal corpuscles full of brilliance and beauty, residual products of the incessant reactions of the vegetable organism.

The well-concentrated disciple must imagine, with all logical precision, all those mineral substances and organic combinations that unfold harmoniously in the cellular protoplasm of the plant. Think of the grains of starch and of the prodigious chlorophyll, without which it would be impossible to reach perfect organic syntheses. Chlorophyll appears in granulated form (chloroleucites) of a very beautiful yellow color (xanthophyll). The latter, under the sun’s rays, paints itself with that lovely green of the vegetable. The whole plant is a perfect cellular community of incalculable perfections. The student should meditate on the perfection of the plant and on all its scientific processes, full of a mystical beatitude, enchanted with so much beauty.

The mystic is enraptured recalling all the phenomena of nutrition, relation, and reproduction of each vegetable cell.

Let us look at the calyx of the flower; there are its sexual organs. There is the pollen, the male reproductive element. There is the pistil or gynaecium, the most precious female organ, with its ovary, style, and stigma.

The ovary is a sac full of marvelous ovules. In relation to the pistil, the stamens may occupy various positions: insertion below the ovary, around the ovary, or above the ovary.

Fecundation is performed by the function of the female germs and the male gametes. The pollen, the male gamete, after leaving the anther reaches the ovary of the plant, where the ovule, the female gamete, anxiously awaits it.

The seed is the precious and charming ovule which, after having been fecundated, transforms and grows. Let the student recall now that epoch on which he is now meditating: it sprouted as a delicate little stem. Imagine it growing slowly, until you see it with imagination putting forth branches, leaves, and flowers. Remember that everything that is born must die. Imagine now the process of the dying of the plant. Its flowers wither, its leaves dry up, and the wind carries them away, until at last only a few dry sticks remain.

This process of being born and dying is marvelous. Meditating on this whole process of being born and dying of a plant, meditating on all that marvelous life of the vegetable — if the concentration is perfect, and if the sleep manages to become profound — the chakras of the astral body then revolve, develop, and unfold.

Meditation must be correct. The mind must be exact. Logical thought and exact concept are required so that the inner senses may develop absolutely perfectly.

All incoherence, all lack of logic and of mental balance, obstructs and damages the evolution and progress of the chakras, discs, or lotus flowers of the astral body. The student needs much patience, because any act of impatience leads him to failure. Patience, will, tenacity, and absolutely conscious faith are required. One day, amid dreams, during meditation, a distant scene appears — a landscape of nature, a face, and so on. This is the sign that progress is being made. The student rises little by little to imaginative knowledge. The student is rending the veil of Isis little by little. One day the plant on which he is meditating disappears, and he then sees a beautiful child replacing the vegetable. That child is the elemental of the plant, the vegetable soul.

Later, during sleep, his consciousness awakens, and then he can say: “I am in the astral body.” Consciousness awakens little by little. By this path, the instant comes when the disciple has acquired “continuous consciousness.”

When the student enjoys continuous consciousness, he no longer dreams, he can no longer dream, because his consciousness is awake. Then, even though his body may be asleep, he moves consciously in the superior worlds.

Exact meditation awakens the inner senses, and produces a total transformation of the inner bodies. He who awakens consciousness has reached imaginative knowledge. He moves in a world of symbolic images.

Those symbols that he previously saw when he dreamed, he now sees without dreaming; before he saw them in the sleeping consciousness; now he moves among them with waking consciousness, even though his physical body is profoundly asleep. On reaching imaginative knowledge, the student sees the symbols but does not understand them. He understands that the whole of nature is a living writing that he does not know. He needs to rise to inspired knowledge in order to interpret the sacred symbols of Great Nature.

Inspiration

Let us now study Inspiration.

Inspired knowledge confers on us the power to interpret the symbols of great Nature. The interpretation of symbols is very delicate. Many clairvoyants became homicides or fell into the crime of public calumny for not knowing how to interpret the symbols.

The symbols must be analyzed coldly, without superstition, malice, mistrust, pride, vanity, fanaticism, prejudice, preconceptions, hatreds, envy, greed, jealousy, and so on. All those defects belong to the I, the myself, the reincarnating ego.

When the I intervenes in translating, interpreting symbols, it alters the meaning of the secret writing, and the clairvoyant falls into the offense that can take him to jail.

The interpretation must be tremendously analytical, highly scientific, and essentially mystical. One must learn to see and to interpret in the absence of the I, of the myself.

To many mystics it seems strange that we, the brethren of the Universal Gnostic Movement, speak of Divine Clairvoyance with the Penal Code in hand. Those who think this way consider spirituality as something that has no relation with daily life. Those persons are mistaken; they are wrong; they are ignorant that what each soul is in the superior worlds is the exact result of the daily life that we all lead in this Vale of Tears.

If our words and thoughts and acts are not just, then the result appears in the inner worlds, and the Law falls upon us.

Law is Law. Ignorance of the law does not excuse its fulfillment. The worst sin is ignorance. To teach the one who does not know is a work of mercy. Upon the shoulders of the clairvoyant weighs all the tremendous responsibility of the Law.

One must know how to interpret the symbols of Great Nature in the absolute absence of the I. Yet self-criticism must be multiplied, because when the clairvoyant’s I believes that it knows much, then it feels itself infallible, omniscient, wise, and even supposes that it sees and interprets in the absence of the I. This class of clairvoyants so strengthens the I that they end up becoming terribly perverse demons. When a clairvoyant of this class sees his own inner God, he then translates the vision according to his tenebrous criterion, and exclaims, saying: “I am doing very well.”

One must know how to interpret, basing oneself on the Law of Analogies, of Philosophies, on the Law of Correspondences, and on Numerical Kabbalah. We recommend The Mystical Qabalah by Dion Fortune. That book is marvelous. Study it.

He who has hatreds, resentments, jealousies, envies, pride, and so on, does not manage to rise to the second step called Inspired Knowledge.

When we rise to inspired knowledge, we understand that the accidental accumulation of objects does not exist. Truly all the phenomena of nature and all objects are intimately linked organically among themselves, depending inwardly on each other, and mutually conditioning each other. Truly no phenomenon of nature can be understood integrally if we consider it in isolation.

Everything is in incessant movement; everything changes; nothing is still.

In every object there is internal struggle. The object is positive and negative at the same time. The quantitative is transformed into the qualitative. Evolution is a process of complication of energy.

Inspired knowledge allows us to know the interrelation between all that is, that has been, and that will be.

Matter is nothing but condensed energy. The infinite modifications of energy are absolutely unknown both to Historical Materialism and to Dialectical Materialism.

Energy is equal to mass times the velocity of light squared. We Gnostics depart from the antithetical struggle that exists between Metaphysics and Dialectical Materialism. Those are the two poles of ignorance, the two antitheses of error.

We go along another path. We are Gnostics. We consider life as an integral whole.

The object is a point in space that serves as a vehicle for certain sums of values.

Inspired knowledge allows us to study the intimate relation existing among all the forms and values of Great Nature.

Dialectical Materialism does not know the values; it only studies the object. Metaphysics does not know the values, nor does it know the object.

We Gnostics depart from the two antitheses of ignorance, and study man and Nature integrally.

Life is all energy, determined and determining. Life is Subject and Object at the same time.

The disciple who wishes to attain inspired knowledge must concentrate profoundly on music. Mozart’s Magic Flute reminds us of an Egyptian initiation. The nine symphonies of Beethoven, and many other great classical compositions, lift us to the superior worlds.

The disciple, profoundly concentrated on music, must absorb himself in it like the bee in honey, the product of all its work.

When the disciple has already reached inspired knowledge, he must then prepare himself for intuitive knowledge.

Intuition

The world of intuition is the world of mathematics. The student who wishes to rise to the world of intuition must be a mathematician, or at least have notions of arithmetic.

Mathematical formulas confer intuitive knowledge.

The student must concentrate on a mathematical formula, and meditate profoundly upon it. Then he must empty the mind and make it blank, then await that the inner being may teach us the content concept enclosed in the mathematical formula. For example, before Kepler publicly announced his famous principle that “the squares of the times of the revolutions of the planets around the sun are to each other as the cubes of their distances,” the formula already existed; it was contained in the solar system, even though the sages did not know it.

The student may mentally concentrate on this formula, empty the mind, fall into drowsiness with the mind blank, and await that his own inner being may reveal to him all the marvelous secrets contained in Kepler’s formula.

Newton’s formula concerning universal gravitation can also serve to exercise us in Initiation. This formula is the following: “Bodies attract each other in direct proportion to their masses and in inverse proportion to the square of their distances.”

If the student practices with tenacity and supreme patience, his own inner being will teach and instruct him in the work. He will then study at the feet of the Master; he will rise to intuitive knowledge.

Imagination, Inspiration, Intuition are the three obligatory paths of Initiation.

He who has climbed the three steps of direct knowledge has attained Supraconsciousness.

In the world of Intuition we find only omniscience. The world of Intuition is the world of the Being, the world of the Innermost.

In that world the I, the myself, the ego cannot enter.

The world of Intuition is the Universal Spirit of life.

The world of imaginative knowledge is a world of symbolic images.

Inspiration confers on us the power to interpret symbols.

In the world of Intuition we see the great cosmic theater, and we are the spectators. We are present at the great Drama of life.

In that world all the drama that is performed on the cosmic stage is reduced to terrible arithmetical operations. That is the amphitheater of cosmic science.

From that region of mathematics we see that there exist physical masses above and below the limits of external sensory perception. Those masses are invisible; they can only be perceived with clairvoyance.

Matter is condensed energy. When the vibration is very slow, the mass is below the limits of external sensory perception. When the vibratory movement is very rapid, the mass is above the limits of external sensory perception. With the telescope we can only see worlds whose degree of vibration is active within the limits of external sensory perception.

Above and below the limits of external sensory perception there exist worlds, solar systems, and constellations peopled by all kinds of living beings.

The so-called matter is energy that condenses in infinite masses.

The senses of external perception are very limited in what they manage to perceive.

Dialectical Materialism and Metaphysics now turn out to be absolutely outmoded and antiquated.

We brethren of the Gnostic Movement go along a different path.

It is urgent that the men of science study the Treatise of Occult Science by Doctor Rudolf Steiner, a great Hungarian physician born in 1861, friend and disciple of Nietzsche and of Ernst Haeckel, founder of the Anthroposophical Society.

It is indispensable that those lovers of science deeply investigate all the prodigious Eastern wisdom poured like a River of Gold into the immortal pages of The Secret Doctrine.

That work consists of six volumes and is a monument of archaic wisdom.

The great Master H. P. B. is the genial author of that most precious treasure of ancient wisdom.

Those who attain supraconsciousness become true illuminated clairvoyants. No authentic clairvoyant glories in his faculties.

No legitimate clairvoyant says that he is a clairvoyant.

When a true clairvoyant sees something important, he gives his concept with great culture and supreme respect for his neighbor. He never says: “I am seeing.” He always says: “We conceptualize” or “We have learned.” Thus it is that all those who have reached the ineffable peaks of Supraconsciousness are distinguished by their gentlemanliness, humility, and modesty.

There exists a powerful universal intellectual cultural movement known by the name of A.G.L.A.I. (Gnostic Liberating Action of Amerindia).

Study the postulates of A.G.L.A.I. Read the Kundalini Yoga of Sivananda. Meditate on the Great Universal Fraternity preached by Master Luxemil (Francisco A. Propato). Investigate the Gnostic treasures.

Those who reach the heights of supraconsciousness enter the amphitheater of cosmic science.

The triple path of science, philosophy, and revolutionary cosmic mysticism leads us to the ineffable regions of the Great Light.

Gnosis is highly scientific, highly philosophical, and transcendentally mystical.

Exact meditation awakens the inner senses, and produces a total transformation of the inner bodies.

Chapter 25: THE KRISHNAMURTI CASE

At the time when Annie Besant occupied the presidency of the Theosophical Society, there was a conflict within that marvelous organization, whose founder was the Great Initiate Helena Petrovna Blavatsky.

The problem that arose was the Krishnamurti case.

Mrs. Besant raised her finger to assure to the four winds that the Indian boy was the living reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

Leadbeater, the great clairvoyant, and many other eminent Theosophists, totally agreed with Mrs. Besant, and swore that the Hindu boy was Jesus Christ reincarnated again.

We still recall the founding of that order called “The Star of the East,” whose sole purpose was to receive the Messiah. Later Krishnamurti himself dissolved it.

At that epoch there was a division in the bosom of the Theosophical Society.

Some asserted that Krishnamurti was the Messiah; others did not accept that concept and withdrew from the Theosophical Society.

Among those who withdrew figured Doctor Rudolf Steiner, a powerful illuminated clairvoyant, an eminent intellectual, founder of the Anthroposophical Society.

Steiner’s work is grand. His works are wells of profound wisdom.

The Spanish group Marco Aurelio also separated from the Theosophical Society.

The schism that occurred in the bosom of that famous Theosophical Society was a true failure.

We need to analyze the Krishnamurti case.

While some are convinced that he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ, others say that he is an ignorant person; that the only thing he knows is to drive a car and to play tennis, and so on.

In short: how do we stand? What, in the end, is the answer?

The most curious and strange thing is that the greatest clairvoyants of the Theosophical Society divided themselves into two opposed camps. These absolutely logical questions arise: Why did the clairvoyants divide?

The clairvoyants saw the inner being of the Indian boy. Why then could they not come to an agreement? Do some clairvoyants see in one way and others in a different way? Is it possible for clairvoyants to contradict each other? If the clairvoyants saw the inner being of J. Krishnamurti, why were they not in agreement on a single concept?

With physical sight a thousand persons, on seeing an object, say: “This is a table, a chair, a stone,” and so on. Or upon seeing a person, everyone says: “It is a man, or a woman, or a child,” and so on. What happens, then, with clairvoyance? Why could the clairvoyants not come to an agreement in the concrete case of the Hindu boy? There is no doubt that Krishnamurti was a true puzzle for the Theosophical Society.

Most serious is to see the clairvoyants quarreling among themselves.

This is something that confuses the mind of those who are only beginning these studies. Krishnamurti fell into skepticism, and remained skeptical for several years, until at last he reacted and began his mission.

All of us, brethren of the Esoteric Gnostic Movement, set ourselves to investigate the Krishnamurti case in the superior worlds.

After patient labors we arrived at the following conclusions:

  • First: every man is a triad of body, soul, and spirit.

  • Second: when the spirit conquers matter, he is a Buddha.

  • Third: when the soul purifies and sanctifies itself, it is then called a Bodhisattva.

  • Fourth: the spirit of Krishnamurti is a Buddha.

  • Fifth: the soul of Krishnamurti is a Bodhisattva.

In Asia there are many Buddhas who have not yet incarnated the Christ.

Within each man there is a ray that unites us to the Absolute. That ray is our resplendent Dragon of Wisdom, the inner Christ, the Sephirothic Crown.

Buddhas who have not incarnated the inner Christ have not yet Christified themselves.

The Buddha of the Indian Krishnamurti has already incarnated his resplendent Dragon of Wisdom, his particular Ray, his own inner Christ.

When Besant, Leadbeater, and others studied the Krishnamurti case, they were dazzled by the splendid light of that Christified Buddha; and since they did not know the Christic esotericism, they believed with full conviction that Krishnamurti was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

The error was not in clairvoyance; the error was in the lack of intellectual culture. They knew only the Theosophical septenary. They knew only the body, the soul, and the spirit, but were ignorant that beyond, every man has a Ray (the inner Christ) that unites him to the Absolute.

They saw the inner God of Krishnamurti and believed that it was Jesus of Nazareth — that was their error. The most serious thing was the harm they did to the Hindu boy. When a Bodhisattva is told that he is a Master, he becomes lost, harmed, complex-ridden.

The Hindu boy saw the instructors quarrel because of him, and the result was a psychological trauma for his Human Personality. Krishnamurti has a psychological trauma.

There is no doubt that they did him great harm. The hierarchs of Theosophy should have left the Hindu boy in peace. He would have unfolded freely in India, and then his work would have been marvelous.

The great Buddha of Krishnamurti has not been able to give all his message because the Bodhisattva has a psychological trauma.

If we examine Krishnamurti’s doctrine, we see that, if anything, it is Buddhist. Unfortunately he does not know Christic esotericism.

The Hindu boy drank at the fountain of the Buddhist Gospel. It is a pity that he did not study Christian esotericism.

Later he mixed Buddhist Philosophy with the Official Philosophy of the Western world.

Krishnamurti’s doctrine is the result of that mixture. Krishnamurti’s doctrine is Buddhism. The doctrine of Aquarius will be the result of the mixture of Buddhist esotericism with Christian esotericism. Krishnamurti’s doctrine is free Buddhism. Yet the living fountain of that doctrine is the marvelous Gospel of the Lord Buddha.

We are not against Krishnamurti; we only lament that the inner Buddha of that Hindu philosopher has not been able to give the whole message. That is all.

When a clairvoyant discovers that the Innermost (the spirit) of some person is a Master, the best thing is to keep silent, so as not to harm the person.

When someone comes to know that his inner being is a Master, he fills himself with pride and arrogance. (Fortunately Krishnamurti has known how to be humble.)

There are also fallen Bodhisattvas. Those are worse than the demons.

No one should be told that he is a Master. The clairvoyant must be prudent. The clairvoyant must know how to keep silent.

The spirit of a man may have attained the degree of Master in some ancient reincarnation. The Bodhisattva (soul of the Master) may have fallen later, and may then now be living on the path of evil.

The Master does not fall. He who falls is the Bodhisattva (soul) of the Master.

The clairvoyant must be prudent and, before announcing a master, wait patiently many years to see how the man of flesh and blood, the earthly Bodhisattva, conducts himself in life. The Master may be very great up there above, but the man of flesh and blood down here below is dangerous.

In any case, by their fruits ye shall know them.

Blavatsky says that the mystery of double personality is one of the greatest mysteries of occultism.

All the quarrels and errors of the Theosophical Society are the cause of Krishnamurti’s trauma. The Krishnamurti case is most important.

Doctor Steiner knew the Christic mysteries, and so he did not allow himself to be confused. Steiner was a Gnostic.

Steiner did not accept that Krishnamurti was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

Many followed Steiner, and many followed Mrs. Besant.

The clairvoyant Steiner had a vast intellectual culture; that is why he did not fall into that error. He was a true Gnostic Rosicrucian.

They knew only the body, the soul, and the spirit, but were ignorant that beyond, every man has a Ray (the inner Christ) that unites him to the Absolute.

Chapter 26: THE SUGGESTIONED, THE CLIENT, THE SUCCUBUS

Before the courts there are frequently presented many cases of witchcraft.

The authorities laugh at those cases and judge concretely on common crimes, completely excluding the little tales about sorcerers, santeros, witches, or whatever one wishes to call them.

The witches or black magicians already know that the authorities do not believe in their tenebrous science. When the suggestioned, the client, the witch, and so on, must answer before the authorities, they prefer to speak concretely about the external part of the crime, because they know from their own experience that the authorities do not believe in witchcraft, sorcery, and so on. Inside, the sorcerers consider the authorities as people who know much, but who in these matters of sorcery or witchcraft are absolutely ignorant.

That is the concept that honorable witches have — those who sincerely believe in their religion and in the power and efficacy of their rites.

There are also false witches who live only by swindling, exploiting the credulity of others (they are con artists). We are going to study the honorable witches.

We cannot deny that the suggestioner, the godfather, the incubus, and so on, are ignorant people. It is logical that ignorance is the mother of all crimes, but this problem is not resolved by corrective pedagogical treatments based on strictly official culture, nor by the privation of liberty, nor by forced labor.

The witch continues to be a witch in jail or in exile, with or without official culture. The witch says: “These people know much, but they do not know my science; my science is superior.”

In short, the official systems of instruction, correction, and punishment do not serve to reform witches. Only with superior spiritual culture can such ignorant people be reformed. These cases could be treated with corrective pedagogical treatments based on Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Yoga, and so on. There should be professors of these subjects, and special reformatories to treat such cases.

Behind thirty percent of common crimes is witchcraft.

Yet the delinquents keep silent, because they know that the judges are skeptical and totally ignorant in the question of witchcraft.

Truly the judges have official intellectual culture, but they do not know the science of the witches.

The judges can only put an end to their skepticism and draw closer to the soul of the people by studying Gnosis, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Yoga, and so on.

Forensic psychiatry can be tremendously expanded through these studies, in order to deeply explore the causa causarum of every crime.

Criminal responsibility before the courts has roots too deep — so deep that not even the psychoanalysis of Freud suspects them.

Mental laziness and the prejudices of “what will people say” must be set aside in order to study Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, and so on.

Occult wisdom is the background of all science.

The great German physician Doctor Arnold Krumm Heller relates in his Rosicrucian novel the case of a witch who, by means of a used garment of his victim, worked sorcery. The victim was a poor woman. The unfortunate one went mad — or rather, the witch drove her mad. When Doctor Krumm Heller appeared before the authorities to report the case, the authorities mocked him. Of course! On the basis of the skepticism of the authorities, the criminals of witchcraft can commit the most horrible crimes without human justice reaching them. They shelter themselves behind the skepticism of the judges.

They are pleased by the skepticism of the judges. It suits them that the judges be skeptical, because woe to them if the judges knew about witchcraft.

A Russian scientist invented an electronic brain capable of registering the mental force of a man. If someone gives an order to the electronic apparatus, the apparatus gathers the cerebral radiations and, by means of a complicated and difficult mechanism, sets various machinery in motion. With this, the reality of the force of thought has been demonstrated. Before, the men of science used to laugh when one spoke to them of mental force; now in Russia they are beginning to use it to move machines and to save on automatic buttons.

We do not deny that the suggestioned and the suggestioner, the client and the succubus, may be of an oligophrenic type — ignorant fanatics who, in a delirious state, commit horrendous crimes; but the reality is that those people are handling the mental force already demonstrated with the Russian scientist’s apparatus. The mental waves travel through space, and within a short time the men of science will invent antennas capable of capturing those waves, and devices like the radio capable of making those waves audible. Then no one will be able to hide his thoughts any longer.

Yet today there already exist devices capable of measuring mental force. The scientists measure it on the basis of microvolts.

The hour has come, then, for the judges to stop laughing and to begin to study.

Victor Hugo said: “He who laughs at what he does not know is on the path of being an idiot.”

Let us look at the case of hypnotism. Until relatively few days ago, hypnotism gave off the air of witches and skulls, of midnight roosters and police whistles.

Now hypnotism has been officially accepted by medical science for the curing of the sick. There are clinics where scientific apparatus exists for hypnotizing.

There also exist witches who use hypnotism for their criminal acts, and this is already foreseen in the penal codes of many countries.

A subject can be suggestioned by the witch during hypnotic sleep. The witch gives the order of the crime and suggests it to the passive subject. Later the subject, without knowing how or why, goes and carries out the order the witch gave him. In this way horrendous and dreadful crimes have been committed.

Witches also tend to use various “embos,” which they deposit at the door of their victims. These famous embos, when they fall into the hands of the authorities, provoke the proverbial skeptical laughter of the judges. The people already know the skepticism of the judges, and now the accused prefer to hide the famous embos, whether they be special powders, waters, roasted corn, feathers, dolls, pieces stained with menstrual blood, and so on.

The force of thought is the background of the famous embos. The witch’s imagination is excited with the embos, and he then projects cerebral waves capable of harming and killing his hated victims.

It happens that many of those victims of witchcraft and of the embos then fall into the delirium of persecution; they feel threatened by the supernatural forces of the witch and, if they are hysterical and impulsive, they can then commit a hysterical homicide, an act of hysteria.

Many times this class of criminals (who at bottom are victims) suffer from hystero-epileptic attacks.

Huxley, the great materialist scientist, accepted that the ether (or the ultra) was populated by all kinds of living beings.

The dialectical materialists reject the ether and say that only electromagnetic energies exist. This is a new name given to the ether. In a drop of water there are millions of microbes for whom the drop is an infinity.

In the “ultra-spatial” there exist wild beasts and monsters that man cannot perceive owing to the various modifications of matter.

Metaphysics knows nothing of this, and neither does dialectical materialism.

The clairvoyant can perceive those classes and forms of life (though the materialists laugh).

The ultra-micrometer can register up to one ten-thousandth of a millimeter.

An English physician invented a lens with which one can see the aura, the radiation of the astral body.

Soon there will be lenses with which one will be able to see the fourth dimension.

Then scholastic metaphysics and dialectical materialism will become ridiculous before the solemn verdict of public consciousness.

With those lenses we will see the monsters and the larvae that obsess the minds of the delinquents.

If the judges laugh at this, they will also have to laugh at microbes and to renounce the microscope and vaccines.

Logic invites us to think that if there are physical microbes that harm the physical body, there also exist mental microbes that harm the mind (larvae, incubi, succubi, basilisks, dragons, and so on). Within some time, this class of mental microbes will be visible to everyone. Yesterday the microscope was invented to see the physical microbes; tomorrow the ultra-microscope will be invented to see the microbes of the world of the ultra.

If physical epidemics exist, so too do moral epidemics: waves of suicide, robbery, violence, and so on. This can be confirmed in the cities.

In both cases, the agent is microbes. Logic is logic.

The possessed of Jatibonico, in which an entire family suffered the most diverse and strange mental disorders, and the case of the crime of “Mama Coleta,” mentioned in chapter sixteen of the present book, are concrete cases of psychic obsession — moral epidemics.

The active agent of those epidemics are those lives of the ultra: hobgoblins, larvae, incubi, demons, and so on. This kind of name awakens resistance in the skeptical materialist. Let us not quarrel over a question of terms. Baptize them with the name of “ultra-sensible microbes” and you will be satisfied.

Most of the time we men quarrel over a question of terms.

Let us agree on the terms and then analyze.

At bottom, what the skeptical materialists have is a trauma. The cause of that trauma is Roman Catholic dogmatism. They felt defrauded by the Roman sect, and the result is the psychological trauma. They are the enemies of Hegel.

Now everything that smells of spirituality seems to them unconsciously like Romanism — and that is the psychological trauma.

So that you may listen to us in the absence of the traumatized and sick I, we inform you that we are neither Catholics nor materialists. We are Gnostics. Gnosis means knowledge, wisdom.

Let us, then, study the ultra-sensible microbes.

The unfortunate woman, seer or medium of chapter sixteen, was mentally obsessed by the sorcerer Barrueta. Does the term bother you again? Are you afraid to believe in witches? Then be frightened of microbes. What if we called the witches “microbes,” and called the latter “witches”? It is a question of terms, is it not? Then why quarrel?

Let us analyze without preconceptions. The medium and the entire family of the Mama Coleta case were obsessed by larvae, hobgoblins, witches, and so on (ultra-sensible microbes, which within a short time will be visible when optics advances toward the ultra). A leper also has his body invaded by the bacillus of Hansen, and a tubercular has his lungs invaded by the bacillus of Koch.

We must then analyze and reflect. The ultra-sensible microbes can obsess the mind and lead man to crime.

There exist two kinds of epidemics, of types of illnesses: the physical and the psychic.

At bottom, everything reduces to the atom, and the atom is a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness. We need to investigate how the intelligences of the atom behave. In the epoch of Pasteur the bacilli were also not accepted, and people laughed at the sage because he disinfected surgical instruments. What is strange, then, if now they laugh at us Gnostics because we accept the existence of ultra-sensible microbes?

Things of the times! When optical science advances, then they will be our best defenders. That has always been the course of history.

The famous embos of the witches are contagious, poisonous substances.

Those substances are true carriers of ultra-sensible microbes that can sensibly affect the organism of the victims and lead them even to madness and death. If the medical science of this century does not know that, it will know it later.

The embos of the witches are bacillus-carrying substances, extremely dangerous.

The causa causarum of the Mama Coleta case was a psychic epidemic.

The jails are full of mentally ill delinquents. Ultra-sensible microbes sicken the mind and lead man to crime.

Millions of delinquents feel themselves innocent, and yet there still exists no mental prophylaxis, no offices of mental hygiene. Much is said about physical culture, but institutes of psychic culture are lacking.

Drafts of air are admitted to be true carriers of infectious bacilli, but it is ignored that mental currents are also transmitters of ultra-sensible microbes capable of harming, sickening, and killing.

The case of Mama Coleta is one of mental infection transmitted by the mental currents of a witch. The victims fell into prison and into death, but the secret murderer remained unpunished; he did not fall, he saved himself by hiding behind the skepticism of the judges.

The cases of psychic obsession ought to be studied by forensic psychiatry.

The jails are full of mentally ill people. (There is no physician for those unfortunates.) Thousands of delinquents are innocent.

Forensic psychiatry needs to be expanded.

For every illness there is its specific antidote.

Witches are not reformed by external culture. No sick person is cured with an incompatible remedy. We could not cure typhus with remedies for measles. Each illness needs its special antidote.

Witches are reformed by their special antidote. That antidote is occult wisdom, Gnosis, yoga, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, and so on.

It is obvious that when a delinquent is condemned, the corpus delicti is required. It is also necessary to justify the corpus delicti according to all the legal forms established by the codes of penal procedure.

One cannot condemn a man for the crime of black magic if the corpus delicti is not known. Nor could one condemn him if the corpus delicti (in the case that it be known) has not been duly justified according to the forms established by the codes of penal procedure.

When a citizen is accused of the crime of black magic, when a citizen is pointed out as a black magician, the corpus delicti must exist, and that corpus delicti must have been duly justified according to penal procedure.

When a citizen is accused, when he is pointed out as a black magician, without the corpus delicti, without criminal antecedents, just like that, without judicial proofs, the accuser falls into the crime of calumny and defamation of honor.

The people who devote themselves to occult, Theosophical, Rosicrucian, Gnostic, Yogic studies, and so on, constantly fall into the crimes of calumny and public injury, defamation of honor, and so on.

Those brethren must guard their tongues a little more, because frequently they fall into the crimes of calumny and public injury, defamation of honor, and so on.

Saying that such-and-such a brother or such-and-such a sister is a black magician is a crime of calumny and injury, and besides defamation of honor. The spiritual brethren must learn to bridle the tongue.

“By their fruits ye shall know them.” Every person is known by his works. A citizen with no criminal antecedents cannot be a black magician.

A gentleman or a lady who fulfills the duties of father or mother, who pays his debts, who has neither killed, robbed, insulted anyone, and so on, cannot be a black magician.

The skeptics of materialism laugh at all these things. Setting aside the fanaticism of the materialist sect, we Gnostics say the following: he who laughs at what he does not know is on the verge of being an idiot.

When a man of science scoffs at Asian Yoga or at esoteric Buddhism, he is on the verge of being an idiot.

Thanks to the practical science of the West, technical progress has been achieved, and the field of forensic psychiatry has been revolutionized. The experimental and demonstrated practical science of the West allows us to put physical matter at our service. The experimental and demonstrated practical science of Eastern Yoga allows us the awakening of the senses of inner perception with which we can see, hear, touch, and palpate the fourth dimension. When man expands his senses of perception, he receives new scientific information that increases his store of wisdom. Esoteric science is the fundamental basis of nature.

When Western science and Eastern science unite absolutely, man will then have found a true integral culture, totally free of fanatical sectarianism.

As things stand today, the science of criminology finds itself stagnated by the superstitions of the fanatical materialist sect.

The judges can only put an end to their skepticism and draw closer to the soul of the people by studying Gnosis, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Yoga, and so on.

Chapter 27: THE ALIENATED

It is impossible to know the fundamental cause of every mental imbalance without psychiatry expanded with Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Hermeticism, Yoga, and high Gnostic esotericism.

Psychiatry expanded in this way can discover and cure the alienated.

We knew the case of a young woman who fell into the state of raving madness. That young woman was interned for six months in a sanatorium. There she was subjected to the classical medical treatments with the famous electric shocks, diet, and so on. All this turned out to be a complete and absolute failure.

This young woman writhed like a serpent, foamed at the mouth, uttered incoherent words, and so on.

We students of expanded psychiatry set ourselves to study the case deeply. We found the following symptoms: delirium. She truly had abnormal ideas. These were strange psychopathic deliriums. Delirium of persecution; she believed she was being sought by the police and condemned to death. She felt accused and sought for theft, and so on.

In the exploration of the psychism of the sick girl, we found anguish during the delirium.

A choleric physiognomy, sometimes full of terror, or melancholy.

In the antecedents of her social development it appears that her entire childhood and adolescence, as well as her youth, unfolded normally in the home and at school without anything strange having occurred.

She does not present symptoms of lesions, wounds, or anything of the kind.

The psychopathic personality is of a totally schizoid type, introverted in an abnormal way.

The great sages are introverted, but they are not schizoid — they are normal introverts.

The schizoidia of the sick girl belongs to the hypersensitive and hyperemotive form.

The schizoid personality type described by Kretschmer is difficult to explore through psychoanalysis. The inner life of such subjects is a constant mystery.

The schizoid type is hermetic, contradictory; sometimes very sensitive, charitable, and tender; at other times very cold, cruel, and indifferent.

The sick girl had a certain self-aggressiveness, with a suicidal complex.

The schizoid constitution, the depressive tendency, and the suicidal complex, with delirium of persecution and anguish, yielded a most complicated diagnosis.

Medical science capitulated, and the sages failed with all their science.

We students of expanded psychiatry did not wish to give up, and set ourselves to study the case. We investigated the hereditary antecedents and found no mad person among the ancestors, much less any mad schizoid.

The study of the brain and the general clinical analysis presented no strange anomaly.

The problem was extremely difficult. Everything was enigmas. The family had to take the sick girl out of the sanatorium. Science had failed with that case.

The strangest thing about this sick girl is that during those deliriums in which she felt herself already condemned to death, she tried to free herself from imaginary bonds. She believed herself bound with cords, took the imaginary cords in her hands, and struggled to free herself from them to escape death.

Materialist science was not capable of curing that case; this sick girl became an enigma for the physicians. The scientific investigations of the sages, the materialist studies, the rigorous verifications of the various chemical, physical, biochemical, physiological phenomena, and so on, are incomplete because the sages have not studied Gnosis, do not know the Kundalini Yoga of Sivananda, know nothing of the Jnana Yoga of Vivekananda, have not studied The Subtle Laws of Nature by the famous Hindu sage Rama Prasad, have not exercised with the Tattvic powers, do not know esoteric anthropogenesis or cosmogenesis, know nothing about occult anatomy or about the Law of Karma, and so on. In short, materialist science is incomplete, defective; it is only a building without foundations. A light push is enough to reduce it to fine sediment!

The most serious thing is not materialist science itself, but the sectarian fanaticism of the followers of dialectical materialism.

Those fanatics accept nothing that does not come from their materialist pontiffs and priests (the scoundrels of science). Those sectarian fanatics will not recognize other methods of investigation and scientific verification, but only those of their authoritarian pontiffs. They believe themselves to be the last word in knowledge, and no one knows more than they.

In short, the geographical East and the cultural East — Tibet, Great Tartary, China, Siam, Mongolia, and so on — do not exist for them, because they are the center of the universe. No one knows more than they; nothing of others serves; only what is theirs is the only thing that serves; they are powerful, omnipotent sages, and so on.

The most ridiculous thing about these sectarians of dialectical materialism is that they will not look beyond their own noses; with their little bit of intelligence they set limits to life. They are like the medieval people who believed that beyond Cape Finisterre (the end of the earth) there was no more land. When Columbus spoke to them of his projected adventure, they thought him mad; and if Queen Isabella the Catholic had not aided Columbus in his daring enterprise, the Spaniards would never have discovered America. (Someone else would have gotten there first.)

The materialist sectarian who does not see beyond his dogmatic procedures resembles the caterpillar that believes that the leaf on which it lives is the whole leaf. It is ignorant that above and below there are many leaves on the tree where it lives. Above and below the limits of external sensory perception there exist worlds that the materialist sectarian ignores. The worst of the case is that those sectarians not only ignore, but also ignore that they ignore — they are doubly ignorant.

We Gnostics do not go so far as to assert that materialist scientific investigation is worthless; what we condemn is the fanaticism of the materialist sect.

It is logical that the scientific investigation of the phenomena of matter is useful to man, but materialist science is not all of science, nor are the rigorous procedures of investigation and scientific verification of the Western world and of the materialist sages the only ones either. To each thing its proper instrument: we cannot study astronomy with a microscope, nor study microbes with a telescope.

The wise Gnostic Rosicrucians know the systems of investigation of East and West.

The worlds of the ultra and of the astral body of man exist, and are a tremendous reality.

The physical material world exists, and is also a tremendous reality.

The worlds of the ultra and of the astral body we investigate with the systems and methods of the Hindu yogis.

The physical world we study with Western methods of investigation. Both systems complement and harmonize with each other to give us in the future a new culture and a new civilization, highly mystical and formidably technical and scientific.

The man of the future will put matter at his service. The machine will exist to serve the collectivity. Man will not be the victim of the machine.

Medical science, astronomy, technology, aviation, industry, and so on, will free the spirit from the slavery of material work.

The man of the future will enjoy illuminated intellection. The man of the future will enjoy the powers of clairvoyance, and yet he will have gigantic scientific and technical advances. He will be highly spiritual and marvelously intellectual.

The fanatical sectarianism of the followers of dialectical materialism is conservative, retrograde, anti-revolutionary.

The alienated increase every day, and the physicians cannot cure them because they do not know the mental body. If the materialist sages studied Eastern Yoga, they would then know the mental body.

If the materialist sages were Gnostics, they would study the ultra-physiology, the ultra-pathology, and the symptomatology of the illnesses of the mental body.

Then they would cure thousands of insane people given up as hopeless.

Our clairvoyants of expanded psychiatry set themselves to investigate the past reincarnation of the alienated young woman whom the materialists had given up.

The result gave us the key. The “values” reincarnated in this young woman had been those of a highway robber.

That highwayman was sought by the police and shot in the epoch of Don Porfirio Díaz. The bandit was tied to a tree and then shot.

Now we had the key to the illness. We could then explain the imaginary bonds and the delirium of persecution; the anguish of death of the mad young woman was no longer an enigma to us. The whole problem was resolved.

The impressions of death had remained engraved in the subconscious of the reincarnating ego. They were the same values of the executed bandit. Those memories were deposited in the subconscious of the young woman and revived in the conscious with all the terrible anguish of that horrible tragic drama. The result was the madness that the materialist sages could not cure.

The commotion was so terrible for the young woman that the mental body was torn. Through those tears in the mental body many malignant atoms penetrated and infected the brain, obliging the patient to do absurd things.

Though our procedures may annoy the materialist sages, we cannot deny that we were obliged to use theurgy to heal the sick girl.

After six months of treatment with occult medicine, the sick girl returned to her senses; she was radically cured.

That was a great victory for theurgy and applied psychiatry.

The asylums are full of the raving or passive mad.

The illness of the alienated is in the mental body.

The mental body has its illnesses and its symptomatology. It is necessary to study the mental body and its illnesses.

The Third Logos closed the wounds of the mental body, and the sick girl was absolutely healed.

The jails are full of alienated criminals.

Many normal delinquents had a moment of passing disturbance and committed the crime in moments of terrible overexcitement.

Malarial fevers sometimes produce raving deliriums whose final result is the crime. The so-called hallucinations that occur in febrile states are legitimate perceptions of the ultra.

Delirium is commonly observed in scarlet fever, smallpox, malarial fever, typhus, and so on.

Any alteration, any passing mental disturbance, any disturbance of the psychic functions — even those resulting from infectious deliriums — can lead to crime. The subjective sensorial impressions during drowsiness or stupor, in the course of pathological processes, are not illusions. Those impressions are legitimate ultra-sensible perceptions that contain the key to the illness.

Psychiatry studies those perceptions to find the key that allows us to heal the patient. In the course of a situational reaction with passing mental disturbance, homicide, theft, and so on, can be committed.

Anthropometry cannot give us an explanation of the intimate causes of a situational reaction with passing mental disturbance and crime. The somatoscopic and somatometric characteristics cannot give us with logical exactness either the most intimate keys of a situational reaction with passing mental disturbance and crime.

In normal citizens with no judicial antecedents, somatoscopic and somatometric characteristics of murderers and robbers are often found.

Only by deeply exploring all the backgrounds of the mind can we discover the secret origins of a situational reaction with passing mental disturbance and crime.

Secret factors of the infraconscious or of the subconscious and the unconscious can be the cause of those passing mental disturbances and of that class of situational reactions that lead the man or the woman to crime.

The ultra-sensible microbes invade the mind and produce those situational reactions with passing mental disturbances and common crime.

To the materialists, our affirmation will seem absurd. When have our affirmations not seemed absurd to them? Were they not the same who mocked microbes and Pasteur? What is strange, then, that they now mock our ultra-sensible and hypersensible microbes? Those microbes are already classified. They are the incubi, succubi, basilisks, dragons, elementaries, larvae, tantric entities, and so on.

If you want to see and analyze them, begin by obtaining a special lens. That lens is clairvoyance. Do the premonitions of clairvoyance bother you? It is clear you are fanaticized! At bottom, you have a psychological trauma. Everything that smells of spirituality provokes resistance in your minds, because you have a psychological trauma. You are truly sick psychopaths.

With an integral culture, of foundation and basis — spiritual, social, and scientific at the same time — we could radically change the present situation of the world.

A.G.L.A.I. (the Gnostic Liberating Action of Amerindia), with its three powerful movements — the Universal Christian Gnostic Movement, the Southern American Liberating Action, and the Sivananda Aryavarta Ashrama — is the powerful integral cultural lever with which we can revolutionize the world and bring about the total change.

The Gnostic Movement offers us the esoteric Christic wisdom.

The Southern American Liberating Action offers us a powerful socialist and revolutionary intellectual culture.

The Sivananda Aryavarta Ashrama teaches us yoga, rigorously analytical and tremendously scientific.

Our esoteric wisdom resists the most rigorous inductive and deductive analyses. As things stand today, the problem of the alienated is most grave, and only through an expanded psychiatry shall we be able to resolve it.

Above all, it is necessary to free the mind from the conservative ideas of materialism, and to enter deeply into the studies of A.G.L.A.I. (the Gnostic Liberating Action of Amerindia).

Above all, it is necessary to free the mind from the conservative ideas of materialism, and to enter deeply into the studies of A.G.L.A.I. (the Gnostic Liberating Action of Amerindia).

Chapter 28: TOTAL REVOLUTION AND PARTIAL REVOLUTION

The order of the factors does not alter the product.

Partial revolution is not total revolution.

The order of the economic and political factors can be modified without the vital product undergoing any change (life continues with all its sorrows). The Partial Revolution changes the order of the factors, but does not alter the vital product. Human beings continue to torment one another.

We do not like Partial Revolution; we want Total Revolution. Only by dissolving the I, the myself, the ego, shall we have Total Revolution.

The I sabotages and harms the revolutionary order.

The I creates conflict among the revolutionary ranks.

The I wants to climb, rise, stand out, and make itself felt everywhere.

The I exploits, the I steals, the I deceives, the I slanders, the I intrigues, and turns the waters of the Revolution muddy.

The I creates conflicts and problems in public education, in agrarian matters, in commercial transactions, in the Public Ministry, and so on.

When we dissolve the I, truth comes to us. When we dissolve the I, we think with the consciousness of the multitudes. When we dissolve the I, we no longer say “I.” We then affirm the pronoun “We.”

When we dissolve the I, we arrive at Total Revolution.

When we attain Total Revolution, each of us is already a perfect Government.

Who, then, will wish to govern?

That is the Total, integral, absolute Revolution.

When the I is dissolved, governments will disappear as useless.

The I is the origin of crime and of pain.

The I created pain.

The Universal Spirit of life did not create pain.

The I is the author of pain.

The I is Satan. Satan created pain.

If the Divine did not create pain, if Satan created pain, then pain serves no purpose; it is absurd and stupid.

Those who affirm that through pain we attain perfection are deifying Satan (the I).

Every lover of pain is masochist and satanic.

Only with the Arcanum A.Z.F. do we behead the I.

Only with deep creative understanding do we dissolve the I.

Every man has formed some opinion about truth. Every religion and every school has its opinion about truth.

Men seek truth, adore truth.

We Gnostics say: “Know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Then there will be Total Revolution.

Yet we warn you that no one can seek what he does not know.

Truth is the unknown from instant to instant.

Truth comes to us without our seeking it.

Truth comes to us when the I has died.

Pain cannot lead us to truth, because pain is of Satan.

Only the Arcanum A.Z.F. and deep creative understanding lead us to truth.

Every desire originates ideas. Every idea becomes projects. Every project is desire. Projects lead us to crime.

Projects are true monsters that devour our neighbor, and finally swallow their progenitor. Thus we end up as victims of our own invention.

Desire is the origin of crime.

Desire is the origin of pain.

When the desire is satisfied, the delinquent rejoices.

When the desire is frustrated, the delinquent suffers.

Every human being is a delinquent, even if he is not in jail.

If we understand the process of desire, the I is dissolved. When the I is dissolved, the origin of crime ends. When the I is dissolved, there is then Total Revolution.

Transmute desire into will.

Thus you will put an end to desire.

Sexual desire transmuted into will is the flaming fire that rises victorious up the spinal medulla.

Every desire can be transmuted into light and fire.

Transmute desire into light, and the I will be extinguished like a will-o’-the-wisp, like a diabolical flame. Then there will be Total Revolution.

Desire is extinguished when we transmute it.

Only on the basis of creative understanding can we transmute every desire.

Desire is the fundamental material of every crime.

The three gravest crimes are: anger, greed, and lust. Anger is the violent result of frustrated desire. Greed is desire for accumulation. Lust is sexual desire.

Anger can be transmuted into sweetness, greed into charity, and lust into love.

When a man does not respect the life of another, it is because he overestimates his own desire — and then he kills.

When a man steals, it is because he desires to accumulate, or because he desires what he does not have.

Impurity of mind is the dog of desire.

Lying is desire to falsify the truth.

Murmuring and slander are frustrated desire, or overestimation of one’s own desire.

When someone feels frustrated in his own desires, then he murmurs against his neighbor.

When someone overestimates his own psychological I, then he murmurs against his neighbor.

He who swears falsely and blasphemes against the Divine does so because he overestimates his own desires too much.

Idle conversations are daughters of desire.

He who envies covets what he does not have. He who covets envies his neighbor.

When someone covets, it is because he desires. When someone envies, it is because he desires what he does not have, and feels regret over the good of his neighbor.

Malice is accumulated desire. Hatred and rancor are frustrated desire.

Ignorance is the mother of desire. The desire to kill is transmuted into the science of healing and giving life. The desire to steal is transmuted into altruism and charity.

Mental impurity is transmuted into chastity.

The desire to lie is transmuted into words of truth.

The desire for murmuring and slander is transmuted into words of wisdom and love.

The desire to blaspheme and to harm is transmuted into supreme veneration and adoration of the Divine. The desire and pleasure of idle conversations is transmuted into sublime silence and into words of wisdom.

The frustrated desire of envy is transmuted into intimate joy over the good of one’s neighbor.

The accumulative desire of greed is transmuted into the joy of giving all — even one’s own life — for love of suffering humanity.

The putridity of malice is transmuted into the innocence of the child.

Anger, rancor, and hatred are various forms of desire that are transmuted into supreme sweetness, infinite forgiveness, and supreme love.

One must transmute the thoughts, words, and deeds of desire into wisdom and love.

Thus we annihilate the I.

When we annihilate the I, the timeless, the eternal, truth, the inner Christ, comes to us. The only way to dissolve the I is by annihilating desire.

The only way to annihilate desire is to transmute it. “When a lower law is transcended by a higher law, the higher law washes the lower law.”

The science of transmutations is alchemy.

The basic foundation of alchemy is the Arcanum A.Z.F.

The mind, the heart, and sex are the perfect triangle of Holy Alchemy. The struggle is terrible: brain against sex, sex against brain — and what is more serious, more terrible, is that of heart against heart. You know it!

Many blaspheme against the divine life, against God, accusing That, the unknown and divine, of all their sufferings and pains.

The great divine life has nothing to do with the errors of the I.

Any man or woman desires something and then forms his plans and projects. Very beautiful in the thinking, but in carrying them out, the problems come. When they do not fail we say: “God is very good to me, he granted me what I desired.” When they fail, the desire is frustrated and the devotee feels defrauded. He blames God, blasphemes against the Eternal, and if he is an occultist, a Theosophist, and so on, he blames the Lords of Karma, or blasphemes against them.

That is humanity!

People do not wish to realize that the Divine is absolute happiness and has nothing to do with pain. The I creates its own pain. The I is Satan.

Those who convert pain into a mysticism are masochists.

When we dissolve the I, pain ends.

When we dissolve the I, there is Total Revolution.

Only on the basis of alchemical operations can we annihilate the I.

The incessant transmutations of alchemy are realized in exact arithmetical operations.

Many masochist students of occultism, Theosophy, and so on, consider misery, pain, and even illness as an inexhaustible source of light and wisdom.

Those poor people adore the I. Those people are satanists.

God, or That God, or the Divine, is happiness, peace, and abundance.

Misery and pain are of Satan.

Others wait for the day when, through evolution and time, they will arrive at perfection. Those are even worse, because they want to perpetuate Satan through the centuries.

Those are worse, because they want to perfect Satan (Satan is the I).

Satan delights in reincarnating to satisfy his desires.

Satan delights in gaining experiences. The experiences of life complicate and strengthen the I.

The innocent and beautiful child, as he passes through adolescence, youth, and maturity, gains experiences that complicate him and finally transform him into the cunning, malicious, mistrustful old man.

The innocent man of eighteen million years ago is now the man of the cabaret and of the atomic bomb. The man of sin and of crime.

That is the evolution of the I. A process of complication and strengthening of the myself, the projection of error through the centuries.

When the I is dissolved, evolution ends. That is Total Revolution.

The Absolute does not know itself. The Absolute needs to know itself.

Every super-divine atom needs to know itself in order to have consciousness of its own happiness. Unconscious happiness is not happiness.

Man, in the last analysis, is only a super-divine atom of the absolute abstract space. That atom is known to the Kabbalists by the name of Ain-Soph.

It is urgent to know that the Ain-Soph sends its spirit to the world of matter with the purpose of acquiring what is called self-consciousness of its own happiness.

When the spirit, after passing through the states of mineral, vegetable, and animal consciousness, reaches the human state, it can return to the Ain-Soph, and fuse with the Ain-Soph.

Then the Ain-Soph becomes conscious of its own happiness.

Unfortunately, man allows himself to be confused by matter and by the fatal voices of desire. Then the I is born.

The worst misfortune is the continuity of the I. Satan reincarnating becomes complicated.

Satan reincarnating suffers the consequences of his own errors. (Karma.)

Satan is born in time and dies in time. Satan is time.

To wish to perfect Satan is an absurdity.

To wish to free ourselves with time is to adore Satan.

What God is, what the Divine is, what truth is, is timeless.

With the great pain of Satan, man organizes mystical schools.

Man converts pain into a mysticism: that is masochism.

From a mistake we form the complicated theory of evolution.

Man erred when he ate the forbidden apple. Then the I was born. (Adam’s apple is sex.)

Since then, error has been reincarnating.

Thus pain continues.

Only in incessant transmutations do we dissolve the I. Then evolution ends.

That is Total Revolution.

Economic and political revolution is partial revolution.

We need Total Revolution.

After the absolute death of the I, the spirit of man returns to its inner star, which has always smiled upon him. That star is the super-divine atom of the absolute abstract space.

The spirit of man is the ray of that inner star.

That ray was captured by the horrible Dragon of Desire.

When the ray frees itself from the horrible beast of desire, it returns to its inner star. Then the star is conscious of its own happiness.

The ray returns to its star by climbing the symbolic ladder of Jacob. In its return, the ray acquires angelic, archangelic, seraphic consciousness, and so on.

The divine hierarchies are the result of tremendous inner revolutions.

Partial revolution is pain in another form.

We need Total Revolution.

Total Revolution is supreme happiness.

When we annihilate the I, the timeless, the eternal, truth, the inner Christ, comes to us.

Chapter 29: INTELLECTUAL CRIMINOLOGY

Intellectual criminology is so deep and complex that millions of volumes would be required to study that subject. We only allow ourselves to touch on a few points.

Intellectual criminology is contained in books, magazines, bullrings, films, pamphlets, and so on.

There exist in various countries pornographic magazines that prostitute the minds of young women and of men.

When a pornographic representation reaches the mind, the unconscious seizes upon that representation and with it elaborates its concepts of content.

The concepts of content elaborated by the unconscious are the exact result of the quality of the representation.

The I seizes the representation in the unconscious backgrounds of the mind and elaborates from it its concepts of content.

In the world of cosmic mind, the concepts of content are translated into semi-conscious images. Those are the effigies of the mental world.

On the plane of cosmic mind, the I fornicates and commits adultery with those images.

That is the prostitution of the mind.

Nocturnal pollutions are the morbid result of mental prostitution.

There also exist magazines of the failed.

In those magazines, women advertise themselves, soliciting a husband — tall, short, fat, thin, with money, and so on. Many young unmarried women follow that ultra-modernist example. That is mental prostitution. And the result is most serious. The exchange of letters begins; one loves the person one does not know. Plans are made, and on the day the couple meets, the inevitable failure comes.

Ladies who have never been prostitutes, dignified and honorable young women, allow themselves to be deceived by modernism and fall into the crime of mental prostitution.

If a clairvoyant studies on the mental plane the love advertisements of all those magazines, he will then be able to see houses of prostitution. Each one of those advertisements corresponds in the mental world to the horrible chamber of a mental brothel.

Every clairvoyant is astonished to see those brothels of the mental plane. Within each chamber of those horrible dens is a prostitute lying down.

Men enter and leave those chambers.

Each advertisement of the magazine corresponds to one of those chambers.

The woman who placed the ad is lying in her chamber.

That is prostitution of the mental plane.

True love has nothing to do with those brothels of the mental plane.

Thousands of young women and distinguished ladies are perverting themselves with that class of magazines.

True love always begins with a spark of sympathy, is substantialized by the force of affection, and is synthesized in supreme infinite adoration.

True love is natural, without artifices, like that of the birds, like that of the fish of the immense sea, like that of the shy savage in the impenetrable jungle.

Another very grave intellectual crime is bullfighting.

The first symptoms of seriousness we see in the foreign women who, at the climax of emotion, throw even their panties or undergarments at the bullfighter.

It is ridiculous to see falling into the bullring women’s shoes and all kinds of articles of clothing.

Those women seem mad.

Violent emotion causes passing mental disturbances. Violent emotion is a function of the instinctive I.

The result of violent emotions is antisocial and highly criminal acts. Violent emotions originate instantaneous psychic traumatism.

The violent sensation of bullfighting produces in the backgrounds of the mind internal criminal reflexes.

The criminal mental reflexes evolve in the psycho-biological terrain of the human infraconscious.

The secret cause of criminal sadism is the internal criminal reflexes that evolve in the terrain of the infraconscious.

There exist three classes of emotions: slight, optimal, and siderating.

The first does not achieve the total alteration of the mind.

The second sets sensual imagination into play, inhibiting intellectual analysis.

Then we see the hystero-emotive episodes, like those of the Black Masses in the Middle Ages. The hystero-emotive episodes of the bullrings and those of the Black Masses during the Middle Ages are similar.

In both cases there are rites without control; the women throw their articles of clothing; intellectual analysis disappears; and so on.

The third class of emotion annihilates all reasoning, and the victim falls into a state of coma, stupor, emotional sideration.

Often in the bullrings some very sensitive persons fall, unconscious. In the Black Masses many women of epileptoid evolution, extremely hyper-emotive, fell to the ground unconscious, and with epileptic convulsions.

Then everyone was satisfied, considering them possessed by the Devil.

We believe that those persons are mediums easily obsessed by hyper-sensible microbes (astral larvae, elementary incubi, and all kinds of inferior entities of the astral).

The mental disturbances of traumatic origin are the fatal result of violent emotions.

The bullrings have their origin in pagan Rome.

Later those barbarous arenas put down roots in Spain.

It is lamentable that this sad spectacle has been transplanted to Latin America.

Societies for the protection of animals should struggle against this class of bloody spectacles.

The Roman Catholic religion is responsible for this class of spectacles one hundred percent. The Roman sect is the intellectual author of this criminal spectacle, because it was that sect which denied to animals the legitimate right to have an immortal soul.

The bullfighter believes that the animal has no soul, and therefore drives the cruel banderillas into the afflicted flesh of his innocent victim without ever feeling charity or mercy.

The bullfighter is the executioner of the innocent.

The bullfighter is worse than the bloodthirsty Bengal tiger, because he does not kill to satiate his hunger, nor even out of the savage instinct of self-defense.

The bullfighter kills the innocent animals to amuse the multitudes, who are eager and thirsty for blood and pleasure. The bullfighter resembles the Roman gladiator, who, after piercing the heart of his victim, would exclaim: “Hail, Caesar!”

The word “animal” comes from the word anima (soul).

By merely removing the letter “L” from the word “animal,” the word anima, or soul, remains.

The animal is an anima. The anima of the animal is the innocent and beautiful elemental.

Every atom is a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness.

The consciousness of every atom is always an intelligent elemental.

If the materialists are not capable of seeing those elementals, it is because they still do not know the scientific procedures that allow us to see them.

We do have special methods for seeing those creatures.

The atom is truly an authentic planetary system, infinitely small.

Those planetary systems of the atom are composed of ultra-atomic ternaries that revolve around their centers of gravitation.

The atom, with its alpha, beta, and gamma rays, is a triad of matter, energy, and consciousness.

Haeckel’s materialist monism says that force and matter are one and the same thing. The materialist Haeckel asserts that consciousness is latent in everything that exists, and that supposedly we must seek it in our cerebral cells.

We go further, because we know occult anatomy and the astral body.

Cosmic consciousness is reflected in the whole panorama of the universe.

We know that cosmic consciousness works upon force, and the latter acts upon matter.

The coordinators of every biological, physiological, atomic, and other phenomenon are intelligent. Every direct intelligence is conscious.

We cannot admit bio-mechanical phenomena without conscious coordinators.

You can be sure that the conservative and retrograde materialist fanatic dogmatically rejects these affirmations.

The psychological trauma of the fanatics of dialectical materialism is reactionary.

The animal organism turns out to be a synthesis of matter, energy, and consciousness.

Animal consciousness is the intelligent elemental.

Mineral, vegetable, animal, and man have a soul.

That soul is cosmic consciousness. There is only one great soul: cosmic consciousness. That is the Anima Mundi of Plato. The great consciousness is co-essential with the absolute abstract space.

Call that great consciousness God, Allah, Parabrahman, or what you will; that matters little.

What matters is to understand the reality of the great consciousness.

Human words are smoke that clouds the starry sky of the spirit.

What matters is the great reality.

The bullfighter who murders the unfortunate beast commits a horrible crime against the great universal fraternity.

We are all One in the universal spirit of life.

The hunter who murders his younger brothers (the animals) also commits the cowardly crime of “fratricide.”

The boxer who strikes his brother to amuse the multitudes is also a fratricide.

The champions of free-style wrestling, the boxers, the bullfighters, the cunning and perverse hunters, and so on, are murderers.

The intellectual author of these crimes is the Catholic religion.

In the world of cosmic mind, the concepts of content are translated into semi-conscious images.

Chapter 30: BELLICOSE PSYCHOSIS

The press, the radio, the magazines, and so on, have created the state of bellicose psychosis.

A.G.L.A.I. (the Gnostic Liberating Action of Amerindia), with its three movements — ALAS, Gnosis, and Sivananda Aryavarta Ashrama — struggles against bellicose necro-neurosis.

Bellicose psychosis evolving in the human infraconscious finally turns into violence, hatred, and war. Bellicose psychosis gives rise to illnesses.

A soldier became blind on the battlefield during the Second World War.

The cause of his blindness was self-blame.

The man saw a hand grenade coming and, throwing himself to the ground, took cover behind a stone.

Had his companions been warned by him, they would not have died.

The man felt guilty and was left blind.

When the physicians examined him, they found no lesion in his eyes.

The psychiatrist who hypnotized him was able to cure him because he discovered the cause. The psychiatrist ordered the man to see, and he saw.

Naturally, the psychiatrist had to convince him with reasons so that the man would forget his self-blame.

The Latin world ought to promote the advent of a new civilization and culture.

A.G.L.A.I. unites all the philosophical and spiritual schools, and all the religions and sects, to study at a round table all the economic and social problems of humanity. A.G.L.A.I. works aspiring to the day when every citizen will be truly free and just.

A.G.L.A.I. is a Universal Revolutionary movement that struggles for the advent of the new Aquarian Era.

Cultural-spiritual work must replace bellicose propaganda.

A.G.L.A.I. carries out in all parts of the world a gigantic cultural-spiritual labor.

Bellicose propaganda is destructive and harmful.

Man should resolve all his problems without wars and without bellicose propaganda.

Naturally, the psychiatrist had to convince him with reasons so that the man would forget his self-blame.

Chapter 31: PARANOIA

The paranoid is apparently normal. Madness that reasons and is completely lucid is called paranoia.

The great men are always exposed to being murdered by paranoids.

Many presidents and statesmen were murdered by paranoids.

We knew the case of a paranoid Rosicrucian leader. That man attempted to monopolize the Rosicrucian science. He was a paranoid with delusions of grandeur. He considered himself to be the only priest of the truth.

The mistrust and pride of that paranoid Rosicrucian were tremendous.

Truth is the unknown from instant to instant.

Yet the paranoid Rosicrucian was convinced of being the absolute master of truth.

He believed that he knew the truth.

Many are the occultists, Theosophists, Rosicrucians who become paranoids. Every mystical paranoid considers himself to be the very truth incarnate.

Truth cannot be recognized by the I, because the I has not studied the truth.

We can only recognize what we know, but not what we do not know.

The I does not know the truth. The I is born in time and dies in time.

The I is time itself.

Truth does not belong to the I, because truth does not belong to time.

Truth is timeless, eternal.

The paranoid raves about truth, and believes that he has the truth.

Man can rack his brains seeking truth, but he will not find it.

The paranoid believes that he has truth. Truly, they only project opinions about truth. The mind is bottled up in the I.

Some fools say that God exists; others say that God or truth do not exist.

Those who say that truth exists, and those who deny it, are fools.

To affirm or to deny the existence of truth is to opine.

Every opinion is a mental projection of the I, of the myself.

Every affirmation or denial of truth neither adds nor takes away an atom from the infinite.

Those who seek truth are imbeciles, because no one can seek what he does not know.

The paranoid occultist, Theosophist, and so on, believes that he can find and recognize truth.

A person cannot recognize another person whom he has never known.

No one can recognize truth because no one has known it.

Let us not speak of truth. It is better that we speak of alchemy.

Only by transmuting desire into wisdom and love does the I die.

Only when the I dies does truth come to us.

The occultists need to guard against falling into paranoia.

The delirium of the paranoids is dangerous.

Hitler was a paranoid. The Cervantine Quixote is a living example of what the paranoid is.

The delirious ideas of the paranoids do not withstand a logical analysis.

Many paranoids fancy themselves inventors. Others fancy themselves great merchants, eminent reformers, extraordinary prophets, and so on.

When we analyze their delirious ideas, we see that they do not withstand analysis.

When their errors are pointed out to them, they fill themselves with supreme pain.

Afterwards they react against the person who showed them the error, accusing him of being unjust, envious, and so on.

The paranoid Rosicrucian mentioned by us asked forgiveness of one of his critics, and wept in confusion. When he was required to retract publicly, he then reacted by accusing his critic. Such are the paranoids.

The occultists, Theosophists, Rosicrucians must study the sacred science without losing their mental balance. Unfortunately, many esoteric students become paranoid.

Commonly they feel themselves to be reincarnations of Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mohammed, Marie Antoinette, Napoleon, and so on. Thus they become Quixotes, true paranoids.

That is the danger of esoteric studies.

Many esoteric students are assailed by delusions of grandeur; they fancy gigantic things, and so on.

They fill themselves with malice and mistrust, believe that everyone is bewitching them, slander others, accusing them of being black magicians, and so on.

That is the Theosophical, occultist paranoid, and so on.

The paranoid who has not studied those doctrines thinks that he descends from Napoleon, or from some count or very famous genius.

He supposes himself to be a superman. He feels himself to be a great merchant, and so on.

In Mexico there was known the case of a paranoid who murdered many women.

Finally he fell into prison when it was discovered that he had murdered his fiancée (the daughter of a lawyer). That paranoid buried his victims in the garden of his house.

In the penitentiary he asserted that he needed only one more victim to find the secret with which the human being could mock death and never die.

Such are the paranoids. Very intelligent and dangerous people.

According to clinical criteria, there are many paranoids who live normally and are not dangerous. Yet there are psychopaths of this kind — terribly dangerous!

Commonly the paranoid is essentially malicious and mistrustful.

The paranoids are so cunning that they even manage to deceive the psychiatrists themselves.

The paranoid constellation has various degrees.

The most socially dangerous paranoid psychosis is the one that deprives some of these subjects of their reason.

Then, already deranged, they commit the most terrible crimes.

Yet the paranoid Rosicrucian was convinced of being the absolute master of truth.

Chapter 32: PEDAGOGICAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

There exist two kinds of criminal authors. The first are those who induce others to delinquency by means of hypnotism, spiritism, intimidation, coercion, witchcraft, psychological constraint, and so on. Those are the mediate authors.

The second are the immediate authors — those who commit the concrete crime, the situations of fact, the criminal situational reactions, and so on.

We, who advocate psychiatry expanded with Theosophical and Rosicrucian subjects, believe that criminology is a very deep science.

Adler, Jung, and Freud have given to psychiatry the ABC of scientific criminology.

Criminal law is not criminology. Criminal law is only an agreement among men to defend themselves from society.

The satyrs, for example, are criminals even though they are not locked up in jail.

Endocrinopathies lead to crime, and yet criminal law has nothing to do with that.

Eroticism accompanied by one’s own pain is related to the instinct of power and the sexual instinct. That is masochism. The sadist inflicts pain on his sexual partner in order to feel pleasure.

Those forms of sexual perversion constitute what we call algolagnia.

The instinct of power and the sexual instinct are related to the diencephalon, and to the gray cerebral nuclei that control their manifestations.

Anger, the origin of so many cases of bloodshed, corresponds to the instinct of power.

Love is related to the sexual glands. How many times do both, love and anger, unite, mix, and mutually condition each other until they become a crime!

Love and anger, sexual instinct and instinct of power, have their pluses and minuses in the biorhythm of our glands of internal secretion. (We recommend the book Biorhythm by Doctor Krumm Heller.)

Love and anger have their mutual transferences and their most capricious psychic combinations.

Traumas and nervous impressions often disturb the functions of the cerebrospinal nervous system, and also the functioning of the grand sympathetic nervous system and the glands of internal secretion.

The psychopathic sexual personality, for example, has very complex origins. The deviation of the sexual instinct and of the instinct of power give rise to psychopathic, schizoid, and compulsive personalities of infinite variety.

The sadists-masochists are the best example of what the deviation of the sexual instinct and the instinct of power signifies. The sadists-masochists commit the bloodiest crimes, which astonish by their monstrosity.

Fetishism with its Black Masses and witchcraft forms part of this criminal constellation.

Yet one is astonished when one sees judges laugh at witchcraft with its embos and fetishism. On one occasion a sick subject came before the Public Ministry to file a complaint against his lover who supposedly was bewitching him. He exhibited as the corpus delicti a doll full of pins. The authorities laughed at the complainant, and as if to get rid of him for the moment, they came up with a sophism of distraction, promising him to summon the woman.

When the man left the office of the Public Ministry, an employee, laughing, removed the pins from the doll, and then threw the embo into a water tank. The next day the man appeared again before the authorities, full of joy and health.

The man thanked the authorities, firmly believing that they had cured him, for he felt absolutely well.

What is this? What does this mean? What does criminal law say of this?

Criminal law understands nothing of this. It is for the science of criminology to study the scientific part of fetishism and witchcraft.

It is impossible to laugh at demonstrated facts. To laugh at embos in this epoch of radioactivity, and at moments in which we study atomic physics, is truly foolish and absurd. The case we have just related could be included within psycho-biology.

The employee who removed the pins from the embo and then threw the embo into the water tank was truly the physician of that sick man.

The imagination of the lover, exalted with the pins of the doll, wounded the man.

Between the embo and the sick man there existed a psycho-biological, energetic relation — subtle and real, like the radio waves, or like the emanations of radium and cobalt.

The employee who removed the pins and threw the doll into the water altered the instrument of torture and cured the sick man. (That was the physician of the sick man.)

It is necessary to awaken clairvoyance in order to study psycho-biology thoroughly, profoundly, in its foundations.

We need to transcend the barbarous law of Talion, and to study criminology in the light of expanded psychiatry.

We must take into account and study the hereditary I, the unconscious I, the infraconscious I, the subconscious I, the epileptoid I, the genotypic I, and so on.

We must explore deeply the I in the deepest backgrounds of the mind, and then organize a transcendental psychotherapy to cure those unfortunate delinquents.

The Law of Talion does not reform anyone. Pain is useless.

Psychotherapy is needed.

We must study the syndromes or psychic illnesses. Criminological diagnoses must be founded on expanded psychiatry.

We must analyze mental alterations on the foundations of Theosophy.

It is urgent to know the mental body.

It is necessary to expand forensic psychiatry.

We must study, in a didactic way, psycho-biology and psycho-pathology.

The valuable task of Lombroso and Marro is incomplete without Theosophy. The studies of criminal anthropology perfected by Vervaeck, when applied to the purely penitentiary system, turn out to be incomplete when expanded psychiatry, with Theosophical wisdom, is not studied.

We must make the psycho-somatic analysis of the delinquent.

It is urgent to know the psycho-physiology of the delinquent.

It is indispensable to study the endocrine glands of the delinquent.

It is necessary to analyze the purely psychic functions of the endocrine glands of the delinquent.

Endocrinology and criminology are intimately correlated.

It is then urgent to study the systems of relational, central, and organo-vegetative nerves.

After all these studies on the delinquent, let us explore deeply the I, the most profound backgrounds of the mind.

The diagnosis and prognosis of the delinquent’s personality are exact when we know Theosophy and Rosicrucian subjects.

All science is incomplete when occult wisdom — that is, Gnosis — is unknown.

The diagnosis and prognosis of the delinquent must be exact, otherwise the Law of Talion would continue.

The penitentiaries must become psychiatric clinics, hospitals, universities, schools, workshops, agricultural farms, and so on.

Psychotherapy is polyhedral.

Every delinquent needs his specialized professors.

The corrective pedagogical treatment — pedagogical psychotherapy — should be in charge of psychiatrists who have truly studied Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, Hermeticism, Yoga, and so on — that is, who are Gnostics.

Materialist psychiatrists do not manage to reform the delinquents; they turn out to be an absolute failure.

Materialism has already failed in Soviet Russia, as is demonstrated by the evident fact of fifteen million Mohammedans living in the heart of Russia.

Practically, only a few fanatics of provincial materialism remain, still, at this hour of life, living in the eighteenth century.

Good music, lectures, educational and highly spiritual films, bathing, walks in the open air, healthy sexual life, and so on, can reform and cure the delinquents.

The Law of Talion has roundly failed.

Now pedagogical-corrective psychotherapy is needed.

Chapter 33: CONCLUSIONS

Endocrinology is a science that is still in an embryonic state.

Criminology finds itself stagnated by materialist science.

In the endocrine glands are found, in a latent state, the powers of clairvoyance, clairaudience, intuition, telepathy, omniscience, and so on.

The mistaken use of psychic powers is criminal.

Ignorance is the cause of the misuse of psychic powers.

Psychiatry expanded with Theosophical and Rosicrucian subjects will take criminology out of the state of stagnation in which it finds itself.

Criminal law must be reformed in accordance with scientific criminology.

Psycho-biology without Theosophy is like a garden without water.

Every esoteric student must have discipline and intellectual culture.

The occultist without discipline and intellectual culture becomes a delinquent.

The just use of the powers is a blessing for the whole world.

The unjust use of the powers is a curse for the whole world.

The ignorant person who wishes to educe and develop the psychic powers latent in the glands of internal secretion is like the child who plays with dynamite.

The occultist without intellectual culture becomes a delinquent.

This book is a code of scientific ethics for all Gnostics, Rosicrucians, yogis, occultists, spiritualists, and so on.

The esoterist who studies and accepts this book will become a true master of the WHITE LODGE.

The occultist who accepts this book as a code of scientific ethics will not fall into the abyss of delinquency.

With this book we open a new field of investigation for psychiatry and for criminology.

THE END

This book is a code of scientific ethics for all Gnostics, Rosicrucians, yogis, occultists, spiritualists, and so on.
